A failed search for a Bunyaville car wreck
มุมมอง 4621 วันที่ผ่านมา
A failed search for a Bunyaville Conservation Park car wreck. I only knew the approximate location but no luck. Having done some more research, I'm sure to locate this car and others in an upcoming video. Anyhow it was great to get out and about on track and off track in Bunyaville.
Sometimes Things Are Not What They Seem

Sometimes Things Are Not What They Seem. Small holes located on LiDAR at Samford CP. Are they mine workings? Probably not. More likely an old fence line. Found a survey marker and old infrastructure during the walk.
Camp Strathpine Explore & Samford Mine Search
มุมมอง 79หลายเดือนก่อน
I headed to Camp Strathpine again to search for a couple more fox holes. I also went to Samford CP after spotting an interesting open cut mine on LiDAR but unfortunately unable to locate. A new MTB single track has been established. I feel the excess soil may have been used to fill it in. #campstrathpine #samford

FOUND a HIDDEN BUSHCRAFT SHELTER & WW2 US training fox holes - Camp Strathpine, Brisbane

Searching Lake Samsonvale for 4 mines workings located on LiDAR images but they are more likely to be fox holes from 1049s WW2 US army at Camp Strathpine. Stumbled across a hidden bushcraft shelter. Found some old contraptions. Let me know what they are? A sign written "top soil here" which may be a digging from the government during the building of the North Pine Dam. To answer the question... Probably at least one or more snakes 👀
@@jelbuilderfilms 20km and over 5hrs and not one snake spotted. Wednesday night in the first 400mtrs i nearly stepped on an Eastern Brown snake 🐍 I can't work that out 🥴
@adventureswithgrunt Yep... For me also, when I least expect them.
8.50 is a mk2 Ford Cortina . 14.59.is a Mini .
Thanks for the info 🙂 Always great to know what car they are. The mini is on the appropriate "Minivan Track". Cheers 👍
cool mate, first one is a mini, great stuff..
@@t-rocks1960 the one with me in the photo is on the Minivan Track.
@adventureswithgrunt dah, those vans are worth a mint nowdays.
how do some of those cars get there? there are so many trees in the way lol.. but then the better question is why aren't the council getting them removed? link this video to an Asian mechanic and he will come in and haul them all out for spare parts hahaha
@@tofuhiker yes, please take them all lol. The #4 '39 Chevy has been removed since finding it weeks ago. I'm not sure why the others are left to rot?
I remember finding wrecks in the bush as a kid - amazing how people used to do that
@@SteveMack plenty of time outdoors as a kid
YEP!...Something probably quite rare with today's generation. @@adventureswithgrunt
why are you searching for car wrecks all the time? there a bunch in Springbrook & Tamborine Mountains lol.. I never take any notice of them.
oooh I've seen bricks like that before
@@breathedeepandseekadventur7302 T-Rocks covered this.
This is great! Perhaps you could do this whilst plogging?
We were up there last weekend looking for the old rifle range. There used to be a farm house in the middle of where the 4 excavations are. There are several old dump sites there from the 1950s. Also that metal contraption is an old Cultivator, that would have been towed behind a tractor.
That little drone was keeping up with you quite well! Do you find it tracks you accurately or do you have to stop often to fix it?
@@jelbuilderfilms it tracks well. The single track I slowed (it didn't crash). On the fire trails it's fine. For faster bike riding it won't be able to keep up as other DJI videos have shown.
www.dcrainmaker.com/2024/11/dji-neo-drone-nov-firmware-sports-tracking-update.html a firmware update yesterday and on "follow" mode now can reach speeds of 35kph. Well above the previous 20kph.
Bingo...
Macarthur. What can you say about him? No much if you're an Aussie.
😂
Steering box (and wheel) off a old truck or tractor?
@@OMY005 could be Andy. It location is at Camp Strathpine. 1940's WW2 American training camp so could be off one of the old jeeps.
I've never thought of looking around there for mines
The US 1st Division trained in that area in 1942. I suspect the mines may be fox holes.
@@camcarteradventures yes, could be as not the usual type of ground one would search for gold. That is very cool though 😎 Thanks Cam 👍
Iv not a clue
Cool!
"bigfoot, bigfoot shelter" 😬
😬 i reckon if you retitled the video "yowie" you would get 60k views. 🔥 just saying.. it's good to be outdoors almongst it.. mother nature 👍

i had no idea this area had old mines.. i had a look around the old bunya school site.
@@benpaulsen3358 a nice little walk around that Old Bunya School. The old school building was relocated just down from the tip entry I believe.
Looks a great place mate 👍
Plenty to explore there, if one knows where to look. Also mountain bike trail, scouts, tennis, the old rail trail, Parkrun and not too far from Samford Village. A great spot.
@@adventureswithgrunt I'll bet! Love the drone footage too.😉👍
I did this
Cool, you took out the drone out to play =).. also what's with the music, sounds Chinese lol... that the same music from Asian dramas.
@@tofuhiker hahaha yes, it's just some random free music from the DJI store. The DJI NEO is a fun little toy. I wouldn't use it over cliffs or water.
put it up in the air for a park run.. I think it will be pretty cool.. especially at the start and those coming into the finish line..
Crickey - is there nowhere that people DIDN'T look for gold??
@@SteveMack back again on the southside of Samford Rd next weekend. I couldn't find a couple of mines a few years ago. LiDAR will make it easier to locate this time 😊
@@adventureswithgruntOh cool! I love T-Rock's use of LIDAR in his videos; awesome tech isn't it?!
@@SteveMack certainly is.
Damn mate when @T Rocks recommended your channel says it was unbelievable he was right. Mate Tassie is incredibly beautiful place. I can see why my brother loved it so much. Thank you for showing me mate. Appreciate it.😎😎😎🤙🤙🤙

That little drone is a real handy tiny camera tool! Haven't seen that before... Nicely done 👍👍
Fits in my pocket too. I'll fine tune the editing of the footage as I get more accustomed to it. It's a nice little toy.
bloody hell cobber, you at least could have had a solid inner with your ex mid ! must have been cool
@@haydenwalton2766 Toasty warm. My sleep gear worked well 👍
Sounds like you accessed the situation rather than assed the situation never be afraid rethink a plan! Snow is hard but a white out (fog) is deadly have navigated with compass and 30 foot of vision located a welcome hut 15 mins before dark. Ol boy once told me never aim for destination as if you miss it do you go left or right, rather pick the side with notable land mark so as to know direction for correction. anyhow enjoy your ventures n stay safe!
Thanks. How I would have like to stayed longer except that wind was roaring. Thanks for watching 👍

wow a mark 1 cortina. my first car. 😢
Looks like a Cortina as you mentioned.
Is it controlled with a phone app?
@@OMY005 hey Andy 😀 It can be controlled by the phone app, controller or controller with headset. One can just press a button to scroll through presets on the drone itself. Height and distance can be set through the app. The drone will remember those settings.
Cool! its follows you.. nice new toy..
My first drone 😎 A few hiccups but it does ok for some B roll film. Easy just press a button and a few different flight modes. Like the Hover Air X1. It's not going anywhere near waterfalls 😂
@@adventureswithgrunt ahhahahaha... good for running contents =)... I love the look of it..
super drone. Adventures, 👌
nice one
Do you think someone had a wreck and pulled the motor and trans out and walked home with it???
Who knows what really happened here. We will never find out.
Back in the 20s, our government realised they had a booming industry opportunity - to build the latest & greatest cars locally in Australia. Nothing new there, other countries were already doing it, so too Australia, but they saw the risk to local manufacturing (in an era when many cars had bodies made by external companies who had pivoted from carriage building into car bodies). So they imposed hefty import tariffs on complete cars that were imported. The tariffs were much lower (to non existent) on chassis & driveline components, as we didn’t have that capacity locally (yet). The idea was, to protect what could be manufactured locally (like bodies and interiors), This forced the big car companies to either set up shop locally (like Ford did) or partner with local companies. As Holden were already building bodies locally for lots of car brands, GM saw the opportunity to partner with them - to the point they did a deal that saw Holden exclusively making GM bodies locally and assembling them from around 1927, and in 1931 bought Holden outright. Apart from imported specialty vehicles from Fisher body (like cabriolets) the vast majority of Chevs sold in Australia from the mid/late 20s until the later 60s were assembled by Holden, although they didn’t locally press US bodies after 1948 when the local Holden was introduced - the 50s & 60s Chevs (and Pontiacs) assembled locally came as CKD, but still had lots of other local content in them.
Thanks for that info. You know your car history. Cheers 👍
😂
Grant! you may have uncovered something here. The 1939 Chevrolet Sedan was used as Staff Cars by both the Australian Army and the RAAF during WW2. (Google "RAAF Chevy Staff Car") The army cars were notable in that they didn't have chrome fender grilles like the US domestic models had, rather the grill was bare steel and pressed into the fender like the one you have found. (So they could be painted military green not chrome). So maybe you've found an ex-military vehicle? There were hundreds of them and they were sold off pretty cheap after the war.
Great Video Grant. I'm going out this week to take a look! There is another really old wreck near "The Darkside" trail on Bunya Rd, opposite Dugandan. It's upside down in a ravine and pretty rusted out.
Hi Cam, there is another car a need to find near this one. This is in much better condition. The Minivan track obviously has a mini van but not much left of that one. Also one Rolo found from Old Northern Rd entry. I'm still trying to locate that one too. Next time I bump into Rolo, I'll get the location. Enjoy the explore. 🤙
Cam this car has been removed. I tried to find it again with no luck. Anyhow I found another 15 wrecks in my latest video.
@ awesome. I enjoyed the video.
Some guy out there wants that door handle . lol
Yeah, that door handle won't last long.
