Unity Spotlight Installation on a Square body Chevy truck
มุมมอง 7765 หลายเดือนก่อน
Walking through the steps to install Unity post mount spotlights on moms 1978 Chevy truck. The correct bracket for the squarebody Chevy is #27 & 27R for left and right lights. The correct shaft length is an exposed 9” or model “GM”. The lights I installed for this truck are the 5” metal housings, or model 250GM. The 6” metal housing would be model 225GM. The later model 6” plastic housing is mo...

I built this 15 years ago and it has become one of my shop favorites
You look a lot like the old man
I bought a brand new corolla i hope i never need tools but i keep most of my pluming tools as well as a full set of 1/4” and 3/8” drive metric sockets with all that if i happen to break down for some funky reason i hope i can atleast get it going. I have a few select size standard sockets in my plumbing box i use for specific plumbing needs but thats it.
Ur dad definitely had high hopes for that truck. I'm doing a whipple on my 53 international also. I definitely learned some things from ur dad working on his 53 Chevrolet...i support ur thoughts on how you wanna be better skilled to finish it like he wanted...that's pretty awesome man. I'm also trying to teach myself how to tig currently. I can't wait to see when you get back to the 53 though!
Sorry, I can’t remember which son you are . But Sally’s truck looks good. Leave the F250 as is. Put the Diesel in a go-cart before putting it in the F250…. Your Dad was great at fabrication because he wasn’t afraid of making a mistake and admitting it. You will make them, thats part of life and learning. The GMC and Mustang look good. Plan and document what you want the 53 to look like and have a brother reunion to work on it. We are still praying for you guys.
"This is Joe, our middle son..." (reply by Sally, Steves widow)
I use my wife's account. My name is keith, and ur dad was my big inspiration to work on my 1952 Chevy Truck.I miss him great talent. Just get it done it may not be perfect, but we are not perfect. And life is too short. I've been working on my for 15 years and decided to go with a patina style and about a month away from getting it done. Bless u and your family 🙏🏼
How's your dads truck coming along... Do a video on the progress of his truck...
Gary, it’s funny you say that. I’ve been sick with covid the last week and I was thinking about doing exactly that once I’m feeling better.
That is an excellent job! Dad would be proud and I'm sure your mom is. I miss you guys!
Looking good guys!!!!
I know you miss your dad. I only chatted with him occasionally, but I miss him as well.
I could not be more thrilled with my truck! Joe, you went above and beyond making it perfect for me. Thank you, my boy🥰
That's a Detroit, you can't mistake that lovely sound.
Detroit
I wanna say Cummins but sounds like Detroit but either one I can be the driver for that beauty
Job well done, your father would be proud. Mission complete.
Hey. Having fuel tank and filler placement similar to yours. What filler hose did you use and where to get it?
What was the issue with the truck?
Excellent video. Procured a #27 Installation kit but the GM template 1899 is missing. Would you have the dimensions from bottom of pillar to top or bottom hole?
Only thing I would add is a tire plug kit !! Nice setup I like that little bag !!
Really hard to believe
Thank you Steve. I'm still watching your videos. I miss you. God Bless you.
I don't follow ,where does the sub rail fit into all of this ? by the way great work
I keep watching you. There will never be anyone like you. I hope your sons keep the project going. DONT SELL IT !!! God Bless You Steve. I miss you
@@juanbarturen2726 thank you. The 53 is still in the family and will stay in the family. Eventually we will have the opportunity to finish it and share that process with everyone.
Hi i love watching all your videos. I have the same pedal setup as you do,but my firewall dose not have the ribs like yours, mine is completely flat. So would you say to just measure it out like it says in those directions? Thank you very much.
So you all are in Tennessee now?. I would someday love to see his 53 truck. I'm in Loretto. TN. THANK YOU FOR SHARING.
@@juanbarturen2726 some of us are in TN, a couple of us are in WA.
God Bless and keep you Steve.thats my favorite Alan Jackson song. God Bless you
This video has helped me so much, thank you
I’m jealous
Oh my gosh...you are a blessing to your mom❤
My truck is absolutely beautiful! I can't wait!!!!! You're doing an amazing job on it, Joe. 🙂

What a great loss to your family and his You tube family as well. He will be missed. RIP.
Steve. I miss you something terrible my friend. I hope you son's finish your truck. And keep it.
RIP Steve. I am still using these videos for my build
I still find myself coming back and finding guidance. RIP you have helped so many people in the car community.
Good ideas from a skilled craftsman, thanks.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Great video , good habits to pass on to your kids.
I'm sorry about steve
Good clean job, I wish I had a garage, my work on my 50 Chevy truck is all in the stupid back yard, but anyways good job nice.
I've got a DOD K5 Blazer that I really want to put one of these on but the idea of drilling holes in it is nightmare fuel. I love the look but I couldn't bring myself to put holes in a solid, rust-free body.
You should see the ones on our new patrol cars. they are mounted to the fender, no holes in the A pillar. it's controlled by a Joystick on the console. When you turn it off. it parks protecting the LED light.
The Whelen Arges… the flashing sweep function is neat
I want to do this to my 73 gmc Sierra
awesome. Lites
Beautiful truck, man!
Thank you! It’s coming together nicely
Very nice spot lights.. My mother had a 57 Mercury that had twin spot lights installed from the factory.. loved playing with them as a kid...
I’ve always liked the look and functionality of them on older vehicles, it’s a cool chrome accessory that you used to see on cars and trucks from when I grew up and before… many years ago dad helped me put the same set of spotlights on an 85 F150 I had. Naturally I wanted to fancy up mom’s truck with a set.
Hey Joe. The truck is looking good. It's nice that you are helping your mom with that. Thanks for sharing.👍👍🍁
Thank you for your support
Wow!!!! Joe, I'm blown away with everything you're doing for me to make my truck not only safe, but also beautiful! I'm at a loss for words and that doesn't happen very often.🥰
Looking good, mom should be proud of that... Sure miss your dad.. Take care and as always, God Bless...
Thank you Gary, we appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.
I liked your installation... I did the same except my aim was to eliminate through-bolts going through the wood to hold the box to the frame. I used the same square tubing you used instead of the wood blocks but I welded the steel blocks to the cross-sills instead of the frame. Drilled a square hole in the bottom of the square tubing pieces and a bigger round hole in the cross-sill to accept carriage bolts. I too use truck mud flaps for all my rubber cushion needs... One trick I've gleaned from you video is to drill the bottom of the frame to clear a socket and attach the front cross-sill to the upper flange of my boxed frame. That will eliminate the protruding nut and bolt that gets in the way of my hoist's rear pads.
