A killer track from Queen. John Deacon was my first bass idol so playing this reminded me of when I was first learning bass and thinking that the killer blues scale run during the bass solo was the greatest thing I had ever heard in my life (I think I was correct!). Great song for beginners and intermediate players to develope their groove.

TRANSCRIPTIONS: www.patreon.com/iv4nbass/ Instagram: bigboschybass This is one for those jazz fusion lovers out there such as myself. John Scofield is an incredible guitar player and was often found with a just as incredible bass player in his band, at one point being Jaco Pastorius. On this track, however, it was Darryl Jones filling in the low-end with this incredible repeated ...

TRANSCRIPTIONS: www.patreon.com/iv4nbass/ Instagram: bigboschybass Wow this one is deceptively tricky. The jumping around the fret boad caused a lot of havoc when transcribing and playing this. It was played on a synth by Mr Wonder himself after all so it's not really an optimal line on the bass guitar the exact way he played it. Still a killer line. Here is my rough attempt at i...

Ivan Bosch - Bassology - Full Album This is my album of just pure bass. I had the idea about a year and a half ago right after recording Boredom Strikes Again (not yet named that) that I could release a whole album of that kind of stuff. As far as I'm aware no one has done this before.. Sure enough the week after (or something like that), I uploaded my GCSE music composition reworked to be pure...

My fave Hot Chocolate song, you nailed it! 👍👍👍
Woww the tone is to die for. Wanna heard donna lee too 🌟🌟
Haha thanks! Donna Lee may take a while…
@iv4nbass yes lol...
Superb cover ! Congratulations !
Wow! That was great! I remember trying to learn this when I started playing bass with very different results! You have inspired me to re visit this great song! If you put the time in you get the results.
Thank you very much! It’s tricky to get your fingers round at first, but once you’ve got it in your hands it’s one of the most fun and satisfying parts to play, especially the chorus!
The ease with which you nail this is great. Nice camera work too.👍
Thank you very much!
Waaahhhhh that tone!!! Great job!
Superbly fluid funky bass very well done for your first Jaco piece on here
Much appreciated! Looking forward to doing more Jaco covers in the future!
🇧🇷 Olá meu irmão,por gentileza toca Grace Jones slave tô te rhithym

Wow!!! Locked in!!! Nice!!!!
Thanks!!
Excellent
Nailed it, well done
Thank you for playing this song! Not many viewing options! Heard this on my walk and looked it up when I got home, FUNKY!
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching!
just wanted to say, Ivan; you are a wonderful and talented young man and i truly believe that one day you are gonna be one of the finest bass players in great britain. please keep playing for 3 hours per day when you can find the time. i love the fact that you play 80's funk and the genre you have chosen ro learn from is so unique. i think your videos are fantastic but i wish you would talk more and explain your thought processes about why you choose to play what you do. i think thats it. my name is nicky and i live in edinburgh. please try to learn the song Sensitive by Field Mice. it was written in 1988 and it is my favourite bassline of all time. your bass playing at 4 minutes 33 seconds is just great. really just great. when i qualify my degree i am gonna support you on patreon. many best wishes and good luck for the future. you could think maybe about being a session musician. your dad could support you. i think he is very involved in your work, he seems really loving. please upload your version of sensitive. it would make me so happy. but if you dont wanna then thats cool too.
Thanks so much for the support. It really means a lot! If I'm honest I don't really know wwhy I play a lot of what I play or listen to what I listen to. I think it's mainly just because it's what I grew up listening to and is a mixture of my parents interests (my dad being heavily into jazz and my mum more of the 70s and 80s pop and rock side of things). Nowadays, I try not to stick to one genre so much but I get a lot of requests to cover 80s funk so there is a lot of it here. But my playlists I listen to have a vast range from bebop and classic jazz all the way to some music releases from really recently (although the bulk would be from the 80s if we're excluding Vulfpeck which takes up quite a lot of it at the moment). But besides that, half the time the covers I do here are requests or the song comes up after I haven't heard it for a while and I'm liike hey, this has a cool bassline, I'm gonna cover it, even if I think it won't get as many views. I have got a lot of requests I'm working through at the moment, but I will make sure to get round to Sensitive at some point. With regards to sessioning, I have done a little bit, playing for local bands in the area, but my main focus is on the internet side of things as I believe in these modern times that's the way it's got to be done to get anywhere (look at Vulfpeck, Snarky Puppy and Vincen Garcia for example). I have had a great deal of support from both of my parents, although now I'm needing less and less as I have a job and make enough money to pay for my car and music investments. I have an agreement with my Dad where I pay for all my music and car stuff and he will organise everything else, which is working really well for us. I'm really lucky that he also happens to be a musician and a music teacher so I have been surrounded by the opportunity to focus on music and playing instruments that many kids don't get.
just the best
I've seen Queen 3 times, thanks for adding one their songs your list 👍
his was my favourite queen song as kid! nice choice, criminally underrated song
Brill song, and solid cover! 🎶🎵
I did reply back to your other message on the Level 42 video-Heaven in My Hands-just letting you know 🙂
Great song choice mate. Love your chanel
I love Queen, this bass line is awesome and well done Ivan!! 😁👍
Amazing playing, tasty sound👍👏💯
Thanks a lot!
Superb playing love queen John Deacon very underrated member of queen
Com esse baixo aí vai ficar muito bom, pelo som da para perceber
Vou mandar o link do show ao vivo aqui no comentário ok
🇧🇷Boa tarde meu amigo sou inscrito no seu canal e gostaria de pedir para vc tocar o baixo de slave tô the rhythm da Grace Jones ,o baixo é muito lindo
Very good . Great tone too 👏🏻
Thank you very much!
@@iv4nbass you’re welcome . One of my favourite Nik songs along with ‘Roses’ . Great work
Do you mind me asking what you’re playing through please . Such a great sound , is there a slight phasing type effect on your bass or similar? 😊
Not at all! I believe I recorded through my markbass little mark 3 by taking an xlr out the direct out into my focusrite scarlett 2i2. I think the direct out signal was also pre amp EQ. I think I then added compression and a touch of chorus in ableton to simulate the tone on the record. It was a while ago, so I may have done some things slightly differently but this is what I can remember. Hope this helps!
@@iv4nbass ah, it was the slight chorus effect I’m hearing - Sounds really good and a great recreation of the recorded bass sound. Thanks for info , much appreciated 😊
thanks for banging this one out. It's a lot o' notes and thumb 'n pops :-)
Thanks for watching!
That tone is absolutely spot on, how are you getting that?
Thanks! Was using the bridge pickup with the tone around 80% on the bass, and I think I boosted the high mids slightly in ableton.
Mark King would give this a massive thumbs up I'm sure of it!!!! I'm very surprised there is no Duran Duran videos up here-esp as John Taylor is such an iconic bass player 😲 Could you please do some like Rio, Save a Prayer, Wild Boys, A View to a Kill etc Where in England you from mate. I'm in Kent 😀
Thanks very much! Funny story, I actually used to have a cover of Rio up on my channel, which I posted a little over a year ago. However, TH-cam decided to block it due to copyright issues, which is a shame , especially as it had almost 10,000 views and was a key part in growing my channel. I would definitely cover more and probably will, but I am a bit worried they might block it again. Also I’m from Essex!
@@iv4nbass You're very welcome Ivan! Oh I see, what a pain in the ass after having that amount of views 😡 I have seen some other covers of the bass for Rio and they are still up so that contradicts itself..... That is brill you will cover more Duran Duran 😀🤘🏻 Ah good old Essex, my gf is from Essex I'm here right now near Purfleet-whereabouts in Essex are you?? My part of Kent I'm literally between Dartford/Bexley!
@@mikekaraoke yeah was a bit of a bummer. My thinking is someone must have reported it for copyright or something and drawn attention to it. I don’t imagine the other covers asked for permission to use the song. I’m from the Colchester area btw 👍
@@iv4nbass Some people are right Idiots! Ah good old Colchester, that was only on Homes Under the Hammer a few weeks ago did you watch it?? When was you last in Kent buddy?? 👍🏻
I didn't see that. I don't watch TV, apart from Top Gear on Iplayer so I haven't seen it. I haven't been to Kent for a while. Probably a couple years ago now.
That tone is immaculate, and the intonation is on point man wow 🔥
Why thank you!
Great playing as always Ivan, I’m glad I’m watching this today because it is Mark King’s birthday today!! 🥳👍
Very nice playing mate, well done.
Thanks very much!
Seriously well played ! 10/10
Thanks a lot!
Bro you're literally so cool wow
Haha! Thanks so much! I think Mark King may be cooler having written this!
@@iv4nbasshe is definitely a cool guy ⚡
And at 2:44 that's some neat split screening!
🇧🇷 parabéns tocou certinho,as linhas de baixo desse álbum Graceland são espetaculares
Love this song, was one of the songs that taught me how to play slap bass, great cover bro!
Hey, I was going to mention that you should cover the song, "Halloween Night" from the show Wow Wow Wubbzy (it's a kids cartoon with fantastic music - you can find a video on TH-cam). This song has a killer, absolutely manic, non-stop bassline and I'd love to hear you cover it.
Slap that bass!!! awesome as always!
Appreciate it!!
Wow singing a bit and playing just like mark king superb playing as always, love a bit of level 42
Amazing cover, as always and tasty sound👍👏💯
Cheers for covering this Ivan, top man!!
No worries, Stuart. It’s a great song!
I salute you brilliant cover and beautiful bass , bet you are a mark king fan as well
