The song describes fear in all its diverse images and forms. One can easily imagine how the leaves fear the autumn wind and the water dreads the sub-zero temperatures. Symbolic of all these fears, "Scared Like A Mother And Her Gun" represents the mother who wants to protect her child. Social anxiety about judgment and others' opinions also plays a significant role in the title track of Lost in Lona's debut album. When self-reflection becomes a torment and fear takes over, this profound yet hopeful track embodies exactly these feelings.
