A friend already tweeted that one way to help children and even SAVE their lives is get Forgiveness Education into schools it can help with ending bullying, cyberbullying, suicides, domestic violence , family breakups, addictions, racism, ptsd, etc. Dr Enright talks about how forgiveness WILL save lives and also explains what IFI"s Forgiveness Education Curriculum for grades prek- 12th grade is and is not th-cam.com/video/OWjUkACNrM8/w-d-xo.html Dr Enright internationalforgiveness.com/team.htm ~~There is a need to start dealing with excessive anger now to change course ~ ~ Forgiveness as Order I was reflecting on all of the disorder within schools during 2015 and 2016. It has been reported that there were 35 shootings at schools in the United States in this two-year period. Think about that for a moment. The context of the shootings centers on innocent children, adolescents, and young adults (at universities) who are unarmed and innocent. Such disorder. How many family break-ups were there in 2015-16 or acts of bullying that cut deeply into the very being of those bullied? Such disorder. Forgiveness is a profound response to disorder. What do you think? Do you think any of those school shootings would have happened if the ones responsible for the mayhem had practiced forgiveness and rightly ordered their emotions from rage to calm?........ internationalforgiveness.wordpress.com/2017/06/25/forgiveness-as-order/ ~~~~Reason Why We Need Forgiveness Education: People Misunderstand What Forgiveness Is ~~~~~ internationalforgiveness.wordpress.com/2014/08/16/one-reason-need-forgiveness-education-misunderstanding-forgiveness ~ I am not associated with the International Forgiveness Institute but I have seen the power of transformation that can come from true forgiveness that is used by the institute. It helped a 11 year old forgive and overcome suicidal thoughts. The angry outbursts dropped dramatically, years later still alive a happy teenager. This child was bullied both physically and verbally a lot at the time . ~ Solution to Rampant Bullying-Forgiveness Education internationalforgiveness.wordpress.com/2014/07/21/solution-rampant-bullying-forgiveness-education/ ~Why Our Anti-Bullying Forgiveness Program Matters internationalforgiveness.wordpress.com/2015/08/18/why-our-anti-bullying-forgiveness-program-matters/ ~The Dilemma of Cyberbullying: What Is the Solution? internationalforgiveness.wordpress.com/2013/05/09/the-dilemma-of-cyber-bullying-what-is-the-solution/ ~Each year 44,965 Americans die by suicide. On average, there are 123 suicides per day. Suicide costs the US $ 69 Billion annually. afsp.org/about-suicide/suicide-statistics/ ~Reflections on Three Young Men and Their Recent Suicides ..... It is important that we not stand in judgement of the three men who took their lives. And so the point of this essay is not to judge the act of suicide or to judge the young men. Instead, the point is to ask a central question: What was in each of their hearts as they decided that this life is not worth living? What misfortunes or even injustices came to visit them so that their hearts were broken? Could the pain in their hearts have been healed?....... My urgency centers on this: There is a cure for hopelessness borne out of alienation and unjust treatment and that cure is forgiveness. Forgiveness can cure a shattered heart. Forgiveness can cure a sense of hopelessness and a sense that life holds no meaning or purpose. Forgiveness can reduce resentment and give a person the meaning that life can be about loving….even when others are not loving you. Forgiveness can give a person purpose as he or she strives to put more love into the world today than there was yesterday. A person who is alienated and broken, if introduced to forgiveness, can begin to reduce pain and to love more……and to see that life, indeed, is worth living…… >>>>>>>>>>>>>We need forgiveness education…………..now.>>>>>>>>>>>>>> internationalforgiveness.wordpress.com/category/blog/suicide/ ~ Domestic violence and guns: the hidden American crisis ending women's lives The shooting death of a teacher in San Bernardino, California, by her estranged husband was hardly an outlier - an estimated 50 women a month are shot to death in the US by former or current partners www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/apr/11/domestic-violence-shooting-deaths-women-husbands-boyfriends ~Domestic Violence and Forgiveness~ Forgiveness therapy for abusers is being implemented now in both medium and maximum security prisons...... If the younger generation were fortified with forgiveness education from the early elementary grades through high school, I hypothesize that domestic violence would statistically-significantly decrease from its current levels.... bit.ly/2z1VhrC ~Healing Hearts, Building Peace After a quarter-century of studying the moral virtue of forgiveness, Dr. Enright has become convinced that forgiveness is the missing piece to the peace puzzle. Over a dozen social scientific studies conducted in his lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison demonstrate that as people forgive, they become less angry, depressed, and anxious, and more hopeful of their future. In other words, people become more peaceful within themselves, making the possibility of peace with others more likely. Read Dr. Enright's latest tract: Forgiveness As The Path To Peace. If a person is to become proficient in the exercise of this virtue, then he or she needs a good deal of practice expressing it. Starting in childhood may be the best approach since this allows for the most practice. It is our contention that if we can educate a majority of students in a community in the fine art of forgiving, then that community is likely to become more peaceful in the decades to come as the children enter adulthood and apply forgiveness to family, work, and other community contexts. This concept and our approach to carrying it out are outlined in our White Paper titled Renewing Communities through Forgiveness Education: A Prospect for Peace. internationalforgiveness.com/healing-hearts-building-peace.htm ~~~~Reflections from Prison: “Forgiveness Saved my Life” ~~~~~~ Forgiveness therapy is beginning to gain traction in prisons because counselors are beginning to see that it is one of the few approaches to corrections that actually works. To forgive is to take the floodlight of analysis off of the self and place it, paradoxically, on the one who did the harm. It is to tell a wider story of whom that other is. Forgiveness therapy allows the person to see the abusing person’s vulnerability, woundedness, and anger that “put me on the hook” as one of my friends in prison describes it. As the heart softens toward those who are cruel, one’s own inner poisons find an antidote in growing compassion. And it works…… internationalforgiveness.wordpress.com/category/blog/forgiveness-in-prisons/
