Just some videos of how I pass my time when not at work and also when I am at work…
Landing Cessna 172 Runway 31 Bodmin EGLA
A relatively smooth landing in Bodmin Flying Club’s trusty 172M after a nice flight dodging rain clouds. Runway 31 is sloped at each end so it comes up to meet you but it is very well kept.
Bodmin is a lovely airfield, well kept runways, excellent cafe and very friendly staff. I thoroughly recommend it.
I can’t wait to fly in during the summer when the wild flowers are in bloom.

Solent Radar kindly allow us to transit overhead Southampton on our way back to Lee on Solent. We also flew over Portsdown Hill with Mick's Monster Burgers burger van and Portsmouth & Southsea before re-entering the circuit at Lee. A very slight bounce on landing at Solent but everyone survived. I forget how nice the South Coast looks from the air.

Sheep and Turkeys at Ben's Farm (Not Clarkson's Farm)

This year's lambs are ready to go it alone in their own field; their mothers are sick of them... Then we check on the turkeys that will be plumped up for Christmas. My mate Ben Kolosowski has been running this farm all his adult life and it has been in his family for generations. His farm has very high standards of animal welfare and environmental stewardship.

My Paramotor friend Simon and I take the trusty PA28 Warrior G-BOJW on a trip from Lee on Solent airfield (Solent Airport) to overhead Membury and back. We pass over Basingstoke, Watership Down and Highclere Castle (aka Downton Abbey) on the way. Sadly the Insta360 dies past Thruxton on the way back. 360 Popham EGHP Landing Runway 26

Popham under threat from housing! Please check out this website: www.pophamairfieldmatters.org/ After a 12 year hiatus, I have started flying again. This is Popham and the first time that I have landed here. I was always a bit daunted by the offset approach for runway 26 but really, it's no problem at all even with the slight crosswind. The aircraft was the faithful PA28 161. Popham is a lovely...
A Day in the Life of Old Betsy, the Land Rover Defender
มุมมอง 1.4K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
Old Betsy doesn't drive many miles so she doesn't get to see much in the way of classic Dash Cam material: Badly secured load nearly smashes OId Betsy's windscreen northbound on the A34 (no damage), a ditsy woman doesn't know what Give Way means in Alresford and a Discovery decides that stopping at red lights is optional on Brighton Hill Roundabout in Basingstoke. Old Betsy's favourite radio sh...
Arrival into Devonport with the Pugwash Theme
มุมมอง 668 หลายเดือนก่อน
Arrival into Devonport on RFA Proteus. This ship is a DP2 type ship but we piloted her in and berthed her in manual mode. The tune is the Trumpet Hornpipe, a traditional English folk tune better known as the theme to Captain Pugwash, a kids' TV show. Enjoy!

Good stuff! They were good at Phoenix. 😊
are you flying elsewhere now?
I’ve agreed to buy a share in a c182 at Denham. Same sort of journey time from me as Lee. I think I’ll be flying to Lee on a regular basis though. I also revalidated after a time away.
Great video Gary! I have just renewed my PPL (it expired in 2008!) at Phoenix and nice new shiny license arrived yesterday! Looking forward to getting back in the air again as P1!
I love tits
Who doesn’t?😂
Bro u just drove through a lake
Nice.
Thanks😊
Nice video Gary - hows the revalidation going you all done? How do you find the Archer?
@@julianpratt9616 thanks and yes, all done😊
@@julianpratt9616 and yes, the Archer is lovely👍
Very well done and helpful. Could you please share what app you used for flight telemetry and how you included it in your video? Thanks much!
@@jcwilcox6210 it’s encoded on the GoPro video. The old GoPro Quik app allows you to put it on but I think other editing programmes do it too.
@@garysmith2450 Thanks Gary. Further research shows I need to upgrade to a Hero 5 or newer Black versions for this feature.
3 very clumsy/ignorant people indeed. Some great clips. Would you mind if i used them in one of my bad driving compilations fully credited and linked to you of course. If not no worries and have a great weekend :)
Hey, this is revit up, can I use your video in my new episode? Watermarked and linked to your channel of course. thank you!
Love the background music, reminds me of my youth 🙃
When a VW driver meets a Land Rover driver
She'd already gone well past the give way sign before you turned up. How do you think these things work?!
Hello Gary Smith,,,can I use this clip in my compilation? Any comment what happened? Thanks
I hate it when someone pulls out in front of me then crawls along. There's a special place in hell for those asshats.
Omg u nearly died
Better than speeding n killing someone. Wish people would stop being so damn entitled. You could've overtaken sooner and not stress ie be focused on the road.
Slows down? speedo says same speed even 1mph faster
Limited to 60 so yes, you notice when someone overtakes and then slows.
@@garysmith2450 i missed the bit where he slows down
@@ninety1464 he overtakes and then comes in and slows down to my speed leaving a very small gap. Are you blind?
Was that the bit before you tried to overtake while doing 60mph.. even though youre limited to 60?
Cretin. Do you overtake and then slow down to the exact same speed as the vehicle you’ve just overtaken, leaving a very small gap?
And walk to face oncoming traffic!
Driver needs to calm TF down, you literally lost one second.
Think he was driving a wagon, that's why he was pissed because that is annoying!
Hate this. Have it happen to me all the time as I'm limited to 60mph on dual carriageways!
I use cruise control (so i know my speed is fixed) on the motorway and this happens alot. Really annoying 😡
Me too! I had it on at the time😂😂
So many clowns on the road... really feel bad for professional drivers that have to deal with morons like this day in day out.
Your not supposed to stay in the same lane on the motorway. read the Highway Code… you should be using at least the middle and fast lane
@@tomoneill2645you’ve missed the point. The point is overtaking then slowing down to force you to either brake or overtake
@@SwearingMuffinno, you have. You’re in the slow lane you’re supposed to be anticipating these thing and overtaking when needed
Nothing happened. You don't own the road.
You dont overtake someone and then cut in such that they need to fall back to maintain safe distance. Maybe it was you😂
Shhhh child you know nothing, not about owning anything it’s about driving down and empty road and causing the one other vehicle in it’s sights to slow for no reason. If you think nothing happens I really hope you don’t own a license 😂 ass
Ya did well ... its hard to see all the bad drivers on the roads..... but yes keep calm and fall back...I like to think that they will meet whats up ahead before you...cops dears/animals/other nut jobs lol.
What exactly are you bitching about??? He passed you and then you got mad? Then you went to pass him and couldn’t😂😂😂😂 so you went back to the lane you were in originally? The only dummy here is camera car driver wanting to be a victim so bad
Honestly camera cars a cry baby bitch
Called aerodynamics. Probably going unintentionally faster than you when they sat behind you because of physics. Its as simple as that
That doesn't really matter when you're beside someone
@@payn3y95 he was behind the majority of the video what are you blabbering on about
Happens all the time
Calm down ,you will arrive at uour destination 1.0000 second late
One second I’m never going to get back😂
This isn't too bad. He probably just over take you using some extra gas and then went back to normal.
He over took and then let off the gas and started slowing down. If you do this and it “ isn’t to bad” the your an ass and you should get a bus pass
@@KtL1772 If you tell people that their an ass for having an opinion, then your the ass.
What old tv program is that music from, I remember hearing that probably 45-50 years ago
This Week. It's Karelia Suite by Sibelius.
We are both old then, great music.
It was THAT narrow?!!!
safesky app would have told you he was there, free app as well
LOL I fly paraglider. You could hardly see m. Why complain??? 🤣
Do you do much do make yourself more visible? I know we were far from each other, it’s just always a little disconcerting especially considering how difficult we are to spot…. Maybe some strobes will help.
I go with statistics: How often do you hear of a midair collission between paraglider and aeroplane? Close flying, blind paragliders are far more dangerous. 🤣
damn that really is a not so close call
Yeah you’re right, I was in no way concerned about how close or otherwise he was. It’s always just a little disconcerting though as there’s not that much I can do should the other pilot not see me. Paramotors can’t dive as such. We can alter course and that’s about it but if you’re only doing 30kts, it might not always be that effective. It doesn’t detract from my enjoyment of paramotoring though and keeping a good lookout, the chances of a collision in the air are remote.
Hampshire right? Well then you should have a good idea of the airspace boundaries. He looked to be at least a thousand ft above you, therefore perhaps he was flying under the London TMA? Also, there are many private farm strips in that part of the country.. perhaps he was flying to one of those. Should fixed wing pilots start to complain about the non-radio traffic in the airspace?
Controlled airspace begins at 5500ft in that area; I’m well aware of the airspace boundaries in the area thanks. He was deffo not 1000 ft higher. As I say, there was no risk of collision, he passed well clear. When I flew with my PPL, I rarely flew lower than 2500ft. Why fly lower in a single? You just dramatically reduce your scope for a good landing spot should you need. As I say, there’s no charted airfields in that area in the direction he was flying in.
Hell 700' isn't low! I fly my small fixed wing on the deck sometime, below you guys, low enough to have to raise up for fences. Seriously, point being, it's see and avoid for all of us fliers in uncontrolled airspace.
Nice! I do like flying low sometimes but there’s always some folk who complain haha! I like your vids😊
The UK is such a crowded little country. Where you are looks awesome for flying.
Thanks keeping it real! A "not so close call". But it's still worth mention. I had one of those "not so close calls" a couple of years ago. It was just before sunset and I saw a C-130 out of Harrisburg coming toward me. It was not so close, but I could see all of the individual lights on the front of the aircraft. It turned and I landed. Don't know for sure that they saw me, buy I had my Hunter Strobe on!
I guess a C130 is hard to miss visually😂😂
Nice field Gary
One more addition to.... The Bucket List AKA- The Fuckit List
😂😂😂😂 that's so funny and cute!
Absolutely brilliant 💓💙❤
WOW 😮
One thing the film captured was the sense of claustrophobia, it can be a real terror to a lot of people.
Unbelievable distance that's impressive..
Unbelievable and inspiring. I think this is about some prisoners escaping or something. I give this tunnel 5/5, would recommend to a friend.
When you have the chance, watch the movie The Great Escape.
The documentaries of modern crews attempting to dig tunnels there drove home the scale of the effort during the war
Wow that's a long way to dig.
The film is great. The book by Paul Brickhill is also very good. I had no idea that this memorial was there. I would love to visit it. Thank you for this video.
Damn, that's a hell of a lot of digging.
The great escape was from Papago Park, a German POW camp in Phoenix Arizona. They dug a tunnel out of the camp and went down to the Salt River to float in premade rafts to Mexico. When they got to the Salt River they found nothing but sand, as the desert river is dammed up, and the water is sent via concrete cannels to the City of Phoenix. So, the Germans went back to the POW camp and turned themselves in.
That was A great escape, not THE Great Escape😊
That is so cool. God willing I will visit that some day.
