Thanks so much! Glad I watched this before trying it myself. I knew it was going to be a lot of work when I saw that it was a 40mins video, and that's an experienced person doing it. I usually lose a screw, break a ribbon when I do this. Going to carry around a USB keyboard instead. Next time, I'll treat the keyboard like it's gold, clean it often. I've had two Lenovo laptops and the keyboard has stopped working after a few years on both.

Do all laptop cmos batteries with a cable and connector compatible with each other? I bought a used samsung r522 but doesn't has a batt. Motherboard has a cmos batt connector. Thanks in advance.

Why is there like 15 minutes of faffing about with prying and such? Don't these have pull strips that just unzip up the back when you pull the tabs

You have to tear out the mainboard just to change the keyboard. I was a tech for 10 years. Things have gone to crap. RUN from anything this brand makes. Back up your HDD and sell it for parts on eBay. Pull out your HDD if you cant access it. Then put it in a $10 external HDD enclosure and access your files from a new computer. Lenovo used to be IBM. I worked on a lot of them. They practically invented the PC and were trusted by businesses around the world. This is garbage and my wife paid $1K for this at Costco U.S. How sad the techs have to riffle through this trash to try and save them. The tech industry should be ashamed. That heat shield was never meant to be removed. He is pushing the plastic welds/rivets bach through the holes and hoping he can smash the parts back in enought to close the back cover. Poor guy. I feel for you.

I can't connect the two small wires at 23:29, how did you attach them?

I am not sure what is going on here but all you had to do once you took it from the bottom is lift the plastic bracket and the tape adhesive pull taps are on the right and left top to remove the screen.

I got the same one. Pretty impressed for its price and ease of use for its use in phone/tablet repair. Not something id want to use in a more sensitive work where I absolutely require pinpoint uniform temperature control.

This was by far the most difficult keyboard replacement I have ever done. I am going to be really careful to not get water on this keyboard because I DO NOT want to do it again. Thanks so much for this video. I would never have thought of melting the plastic to hold it together. Thanks!

What kind of sadist designed a plate held on with melted plastic that has to be removed to replace a keyboard? I can replace most laptop keyboards in 5-10 minutes. This one took me an hour.
