Lancashire Gravel Epic 2023 #gloriousgravel

A gravel epic in the heart of the greatest county in the UK. Set in the heart of the glorious Forest of Bowland, this ride took me through woodlands, over climbs and into some of the most remote gravel roads in England.

Just found your WOTR series. Great work! I'd like to do that route one day. Looks fantastic.
Thanks, it was a brilliant route. I might have the bike packing bug now!
Chunky stream
How much of a relief were the down hill sections in that heat!?
It was great to have a blast on the downhills and take a break from pedalling (and sitting)!
I like how even though you are knackered climbing the hill you still give your viewers a glimpse of the scenery!
The scenery is the best part of a hill! That Greenhow climb was a killer with the heat and a heavy bike.
Amazing route… ❤
Brilliant video, looks like a very picturesque route so far.
Thanks, it was a beautiful route and fairly traffic free.
Great video!! Out of interest how come you started at Bridlington? Most folks seem to start at Morcambe. Hopefully going to do WOTR this year, just need to get a bit more training in.
Mainly due to the trains. I couldn't find one on Sunday night back from Bridlington that I could book a bike on. It worked out well not having to rush to be anywhere by a certain time as I could get a lift home from Morecambe. Good luck with your ride, it's an excellent route.
@@chunkygravel makes perfect sense. Bet Greenhow was a challenge though
Yes, that was a killer, especially with all the weight. I planned the second day to end with that climb (video coming once I've edited it).
That looked like quite an exciting and challenging walk, but on the bike...? And potential being fired at...? That's an adventure! Great stuff!
Looks like a good route... on a mountain bike!
Haha, yes but where's the challenge in that!
I admire you’re enthusiasm for A, riding up on Holcombe Moor at this time of year, and B, for doing it on a gravel bike 😅
Thanks, a mountain bike would be way more suitable but I do everything on the Gravel bike.
Booked on to this for 2024. Bowland is amazing cycling territory. Salter Fell is probably better the other way round though as the descent is a lot less chossy.
Lovely production as always mate - and track selection. Nice to see the tandem club in action!
Has your bike got an engine!?
yeah, my legs!
There’s nothing epic about gravel it’s crap
Like a cat tied to a cruise missile
Looks like a great event. Thanks for showing us.
It was, thanks for watching!
'see if I can brake the hire bike' ..not funny.
Well done. Wife and I did the medium route loved it. Ruthin tomorrow
Brilliant, well done!
Ruthin ride was great - really enjoyed that one.
Sweet vid. I sneaked around the route. Was fun. New subscriber here
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it too - did you get to sneak into the food stops too!?
No man, that would have been cheeky. I took my own food and a water filter, so was fully self-sufficient
Great route and at last someone who talks in miles. 🙂
Yes, I can't get my head around kilometres.
That looked amazing, good editing too!
Thanks, the editing took me the best part of Sunday!
That's normal weather up here. I have only been here four years and I have webbed feet.
Was a hell of a day, them puddles lol
Ha. Was signed up for this. Glad I sacked it. Fair weather cyclist now I've hung up the race wheels. I'll do it when the weather decides to behave itself. Kudos for the madness.
Thanks for posting
My pleasure, I really enjoyed it!
Flying down Chorley old road!
I recognise quite a bit of this. Lovely area for riding. Your mudguard looked like the Play Doh Mop Shop! Looked like hardly anyone else was doing it?
Brilliant! The Moovies ;D
Excellent commentary, should've slapped a cow though!
I recognise quite a bit of this, I have ridden on the Monsal and High Peak trails quite a bit. A great area for cycling. Looks like a real mix of surfaces.
Looks like a great ride
Looks like a lovely place to refresh yourself
It was! Beautiful part of the world.
Great video, hopefully doing this ride at the weekend 👍🏼
Couldn't watch with that awful music, so annoying, would just sooner hear the sound of your tyres on the trail and perhaps an interesting comment from you.
@@chunkygravel everyone is using this shite free music, so once you've watched a few videos it just get so repetitive and uninteresting. just watched a guy riding the monsal trail waffling and peddling along and although he was talking rubbish it was way better than the obvious music everyone uses. Obvs just my opinion, the footage was good, just the music.
Коротко и ясно!!!👍🚵
