OK so how do I transfer domain ownership. I have a domain that I own but I also started my own business and want to transfer that domain name underneath that business but for some odd reason I don't find anywhere this is transfer ownership
Not sure I completely understand what you're asking here, since even as the business owner you're still "you" and a person (not just a business entity) has to own the domain. However are some guides that might help: If the domain is purchased through Squarespace but in a different website, you can move it to a new/different Squarespace website using their guide here: support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205812098-Moving-a-Squarespace-domain-between-Squarespace-sites If you want to literally give ownership of the domain to someone else, follow this guide: support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/31344259220877-Changing-domain-ownership If you want to update the Registration Information for that domain, go to account.squarespace.com/domains/managed/YOURDOMAIN.COM to jump straight to your domain's settings, then look in the bottom left corner where it says "Registration Information" and click EDIT. Once you save the change, Squarespace will ask you to verify the change by clicking on a link in an email they send. This info is your WhoIs Privacy info, which you can read more about here: support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205812438-Whois-privacy
Does anyone know how to move photos around without them snapping to grid?
The grid is in the internal backend structure, so if you're editing inside a Fluid Engine section there's no way around the blocks snapping into place because that's what makes it fluid, responsive & adaptive to all screen sizes. That said, you can control the placement a little bit more by setting the Image Block's Design tab settings to Fit vs Fill, and/or using SquareKicker to nudge it horizontally or vertically if you can't get it into the right spot. Just keep in mind that using a third-party tool like SquareKicker introduces more variables so you should do a lot of testing if you use it, to make sure the nudge outside of the grid cells it's still technically snapped to, doesn't cause any unwanted results on other screen sizes. 😊
THANK YOU!! 🎉🎊💫
Super helpful!l Also, I love your wall art 😆
Yay! Glad to hear it --and thank you! 😁
This is very helpful but I am still lost as to what to do now that I have set up self-segmentation (preferences) and the customers have self tagged what they want, how do I create a rule in an email to tell it not to send them the things they chose not to get? So if I have 5 tags they can choose and they choose 2 of them, how do I tell ConvertKit to not send those other emails to them. The rest of my email list gets all my emails. I only have a few people who have self-segmented but for now I haven't been able to fugure out what to do with it.
Good question! You wouldn't create a rule, you'd just exclude those tagged subscribers from Broadcasts or Sequences as needed. Here's a tutorial from Kit that walks through that for Broadcasts: help.kit.com/en/articles/2502648-how-to-exclude-certain-subscribers-from-a-broadcast This article from Kit walks through how to exclude subscribers from Sequences sent in Automations: help.kit.com/en/articles/2502629-creating-and-sending-a-sequence-in-kit#h_2b1e2adb68
@@launchthedamnthing I thought about that the only problem is when someone creates a preference. I am not notified of that and all I can see is that they have been tagged as wanting to receive certain things. So I can periodically check for those tags if I wanted to add someone to a sequence, but there’s not a tag that is excluded. Does that make sense? I’ve been trying to figure this out for weeks. So if I have said, I would like to receive topic three and four out of 4 choices I don’t see how I know who I am excluding from the other topics 1and 2.
I've just discovered your channel (and website) whilst searching for some Squarespace troubleshooting info and now I've gone down a rabbit hole of your content, haha! I've only just started my own business (Aug 2024) and it's been great watching bits of your journey. Thanks for all your sharing!

@@launchthedamnthing thanks and Happy New Year! Someone shared this video url from sqsp circle day and I only finally had time to check it out. Appreciate you!
For subscribers who then become members. The member site/pages, how can members create and or edit their own content?
Good question! That will vary between platforms, but for Squarespace their "Member Areas" are more of a gated content area so there are no forum/discussion/posting capabilities there unless you put your content into a blog collection which lives in the gated Members-Only access points, and turn on the comments for posts. In that case, you'd be able to allow members to have comment-based conversations that way, but they will never be able to post their own content & see it live without workarounds --at least not until Squarespace gives us that functionality down the road. If you're looking for that, you might check out Community Box for member submitted content. it's a third-party plugin that works well for member-submitted directory type stuff and embeds nicely into Squarespace. If that's not a fit, then you'll need a more group/community based option like Circle, MightyNetworks, or Heartbeat - all of those are private groups which can also host content, but allow members to engage with you & each other inside. You'd have to set it up outside of Squarespace, and then send them access to the private group after purchase or free sign-up depending on how you want to run it. Circle is my favorite, with Heartbeat coming in next. 😊
If, however, you're talking about 'members' being website contributors with edit permissions (ie: your assistant needs to add blog posts to the site for you) then you'd just add that person as a contributor in permissions within your website's settings area. Depending on what permissions access level you give them, they'd be able to log into Squarespace with their own account (not needing your login info) and only edit/update or add to whatever you gave them access to. 😊
@@launchthedamnthing Wow, thanks for the info. I am so disappointed that this is the case as I created the website for the sole purpose of allowing members (100+) to be able to create their own content etc. I am surprised that this feature does not exist.
@@geoffreydarwentartconnexu You're welcome! I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news; the name "Member Areas" definitely implies that it can, but at least at this time it's more of a paywall to access gated content you create & share with them. You can still use it to house members-only exclusive content like resources, an embedded meeting scheduler or event calendar, or a course with lessons, access to other digital assets, etc. but they will not be able to create their own content unless you use another tool. MemberSpace technically works with Squarespace, but it's clunky to set up & use & I'm still not sure even that allows them to create their own content. I personally use Circle.so for my membership and it works really well; I've also researched Heartbeat before deciding on Circle and it seems like a good (& slightly more affordable) option too. Both feel close enough to Facebook that members shouldn't have trouble learning how to use it, and you can link to either community or embed it into your Squarespace site in a few different ways. Circle specifically has several ways to embed including adding a widget that can live on your website in the bottom right corner & opens in an overlay on top of your site, but it smartly knows who's looking at it & won't display content you don't want it to, to non-members. So you still have some options! I dare say most website platforms (aside from WordPress, but it also comes with lots of other issues) do not include this feature either, so Squarespace is not unique in that way. To my knowledge, Webflow, Showit, and Shopify don't do this either. Not sure about Wix. The last thing I'll add is that arguably, you really don't want your website platform to take on this kind of functionality, because it adds so many new features/functionality for them to troubleshoot, build, manage, support, etc --which ultimately takes away from their attention on the things/features it does best as its main feature set. Inevitably, any "all in one" platform does a certain set of things really well, and a subset of things pretty shitty 😂 because you really can't "specialize" in so many things & do them all well. The old saying, "A jack of all trades is a master of none" really applies to things like this! IMHO, memberships would not be something I'd want to pay for the capability of inside an all-in-one tool like Squarespace, if it wasn't 'up to snuff' so-to-speak with the rest of their specialty features. Just food for thought! 😃
@@launchthedamnthing Thank you so much for your reply. What a downer as I was so upbeat about setting up this website for that very reason. Ugh
I love how youre' always smiling and laughing lol I'm often laughing at myself when I realized I couldve done something a whole lot simpler lol. Love your content and your personality. this video was great. def going to do this for showit
Aw, thank you. I really appreciate hearing that, so thanks so much for sharing!! 🤩I'm thrilled it was helpful for you too!
Hi there! For a subscription based business module would you just keep ownership for hosting/maintaining or what would be the best way to go about it? Thanks!
Good question. On Squarespace, specifically, I'd probably just keep myself an Admin & still give ownership to the clients. I just don't have any desire to manage their billing stuff & get reimbursed for it. Since subscription services are generally lower-cost than a custom website build, it's more statistically probable that you'll end up paying without being reimbursed at some point. If you're okay with that, then go for it! But if that makes ya a little queasy or seems hard to manage, then I'd stay an Admin. More food for thought: ethically speaking, I always prefer for the business owner to actually own their website. I've seen too many people get burned on situations where the designer disappears or goes AWOL bc they're sick or their house got washed away in a freak hurricane flood (or they're just a dick & took the money & ran) --leaving the business owner without any way to retrieve their content because the logins & permissions are all controlled by someone else. As a business owner myself, I'd be willing to subscribe to a service, but not if I also didn't own the thing they worked on every month. 😁😉 Just something to consider! And if you get paid up front, the client uses your time or loses it (not your problem if they don't make time to tell you want to work on each month, you've still reserved time for them anyway), then you don't have to worry if they remove you from their website & won't let you work on it anymore. 🤷🏻♀😃
@ Perect. If they own the site and pay the their own fees, typically how much would/should you charge since this is a one time transaction. Not sure if you’ve addressed that before. I’ve barely found your channel and I’ve been looking through lol. Really appreciate the information!
@@dooker6744 SO glad you're enjoying the content & digging in! That's really a loaded question with tons of variables. Hello I have a question! So I created a Sqaurespace account for the first time, and bought a domain for my brother with my card info. I started a website but did not finish. He asked me to transfer the domain to him, and I did, making him a contributor and then transferring ownership to him. My question is, is my card info visible to him as the new owner of the domain? I am not worried about it because I know he'll adjust it if it is, but I want to understand how to do this for future non-family clients. Do I ask them for their card when I am purchasing their domain, I don't know if they would feel comfortable sharing that info with me? or how do people usually go about this? Thank you!
Great question! Yes, some of your payment info will be visible to any admins, owners, or other contributors that have billing permissions access (ex: last four digits of card, subscription plan info, maybe the billing address, etc). In your brother's case, he can replace that info with his own & then if you're still a contributor, you'd see his info (with some details redacted, like most of the CC #, etc). For clients, I never put in any payment details for them (mine or theirs) so that: 1) I don't have their CC or payment info on file anywhere bc I don't want the responsibility of keeping that safe, and 2) it avoids this issue of payment info privacy by Sqsp naturally redacting important pieces of the info on file in the billing area, and 3) I don't want to be 'on the hook' for their subscriptions, especially because they "own" it so I don't want to ever accidentally be charged for what they own/manage in their business. Because once the payment info is entered, it can't be removed, only replaced. So for your real clients, you'd transfer ownership of the site &/or domain where applicable FIRST, then guide THEM through accessing their billing area to walk them through choosing a plan (if you feel so inclined to show them how to do it). 😁
Such a great video! You gained a fan 🎉
Yay! 😁 Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. 😁
Are you able to show the set up of your clickup portal as well?
I've since deprecated my ClickUp portal bc I find that between that & Notion, most clients feel more overwhelmed & confused using ClickUp so I've stopped using it in ClickUp. That said, you can see it in this video th-cam.com/video/_4Fe7NoyJoI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=N-KRXrF35GZT2W3Y & that deprecated (no longer updated) version is still available in my Client Portal template in my shop if you wanted to use it, you're welcome to! www.launchthedamnthing.com/shop 😃

So glad you enjoyed it! I have been using this method for months now & haven't seen any negative impact on the actual referral links yet! So as long as your redirect, redirects to the full referral link you're given it should still function correctly after redirecting! 😁

So happy you enjoyed it! Thank YOU for telling me! YES - you can see those survey results in Paige's blog post here: www.paigebrunton.com/web-designer-salary-and-pricing-survey-results
Love that Paige does not do the Social media thing. Have to be honest the least fav part of running a business. Also like the "half drunk" method of seo. Just write content for your audience.
Hahaha! YES --me too. Her quitting social was part of what gave me 'permission' to do it too! Pretty sure I quit shortly after her announcement about it. lol --And YES! Just write good content to start with, and then you can work on getting better SEO bits & pieces along the way!
Is it ok if I have paragraph 1 text above a heading 1 text?
Good question! Technically I believe that messes with the hierarchy of importance in the HTML structure, making it appear that YOU think the P1 is more important than the H1 and so could confuse Google when it scans the site, but as long as it's not done often I've not seen any adverse side affects from doing this when I need to. 😊
Thank you!!

As an introverted artist, this is really good to know! Thanks, ms. Katelyn!
You're quite welcome! 😁 Happy to hear it helped you!
I use ClickUp as my project manager for clients. But I've just migrated my website over to Squarespace so it made sense to try out this invoicing too. Proposals, invoices, and contracts! They look super professional now. I wish you could add multiple contacts to a project. Or at least update the main contact. I'm working with a client but my invoices need to go to someone else in the company. I can't really ask them to forward it to them.
Can you build funnels and landing pages in thrivecart? I’m confused with all these systems
Great question! Yes, funnels are very easy to build in ThriveCart, especially if you use one of the systems that integrate well with it. So building a funnel to deliver a free or paid item, then introducing an upsell during checkout, even a downsell if they don't do the upsell, and then connecting that person's checkout decision to the right delivery, and dumping them into your email marketing software so you can update them about new product updates for what they got + new items, sales, etc. All of that can be done with ThriveCart and one of the email marketing integrations they connect with, such as ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign, MailerLite, etc. You can also build landing pages in ThriveCart with custom domains, though I prefer to do that in my website builder and just embed the checkout or link to the checkout, because while ThriveCart's page builder is pretty good, it's still not on par with most dedicated website builders, so you can get a lot more custom with platforms like Squarespace, Webflow, Showit, Wix, etc in the design of the sales/landing page, and still connect it to your checkout. ThriveCart does offer full page checkout pages, popup checkouts from an embedded button, embeddable checkouts (no popup), and full sales page designs + checkout pages. So there's a TON of flexibility! Basically, ThriveCart is just a checkout system + learning management system (courses), which can be used along side your email marketing and website platforms for the full stack of capabilities related to the process of collecting sales & subscribers. It's the same as you'd get with something like Kajabi, but with much more customization, while lacking a few of their 'core' features (like communities), and without paying exorbitant monthly/annual pricing. The problem most people have with services like Kajabi is that they offer too much all in one, so none of their individual features are "that great" because they're not specializing in any one of them. Whereas with ThriveCart, they specialize very clearly in checkouts, funnels, and connecting your customers to other systems via native (Zapier-free) integrations. ThriveCart works very easily with any website platform too, which is basically like having Kajabi, except YOU get to pick which software you use for email marketing, which software you use for your website, and for your checkout systems + course management, and for your communities, etc. based on which options YOU LOVE to use & find the most relatable features in. Versus an all-in-one where you pay slightly less per month total ($100-300/mo) bc they do it all for you in-house, but to make that Kajabi/Kartra/FG Funnels price cost effective you HAVE to use everything in-house even if you don't like how it works or wish it offered features it doesn't have yet, etc. Hopefully that makes sense! 😁 You can see ThriveCart's list of native integrations here: support.thrivecart.com/help-categories/integrations/
@@launchthedamnthing thanks so much for such a great explanation !! That really helps🫶🫶🫶
@@launchthedamnthing I thought Kajabi was more expensive which is why I didn't choose to use it...but you are saying it is cheaper...?
@@erinjrock You're welcome! 😃 Ah, that's a good clarifying question. I've never paid for it myself & used it as a business owner (only as a student) but from what I've heard from people who have either researched switching to it from Teachable, etc or have switched to it & love it, or switched to it and then back to something else --the consensus is that it ONLY makes financial sense to pay that much per month if you plan to use all or most of the built-in features: their email marketing service, their checkouts, their community, their course platform, etc. The ONLY reason it would be cheaper, is for the folks that already have softwares & systems they love, and if considering a switch to Kajabi, don't like or want to use their email marketing, checkout systems, or communities, -just their course management platform, for example. At that cost of $150/200+ per month for just Kajabi, plus $50+/mo for ConvertKit/Kit, + $900 for ThriveCart (one-time) or regular monthly payments for SamCart, + $99/mo for Circle, etc --that gets VERY expensive, VERY quickly & makes Kajabi as a whole look cheaper vs paying for these features separately from different companies. But from what I hear, most people that use other external softwares don't want to switch to the version that's included in an all-in-one, because it's not as robust. All-in-one softwares are tricky, if they're older & have been around for a long time like Kajabi, they can offer fairly robust solutions to all of their feature sets. But typically, still, each individual feature they offer still lacks stuff that other specialty softwares offer, because Kajabi has too much going on to update & tweak, to make its Communities feature up to par with something like Circle, or their email marketing features comparable to ConvertKit/Kit --it's just not possible because they are trying to be masters of all, versus specializing in one thing. Hopefully that clarifies! It's not that it's "cheap" by any stretch. It's only cheaper if you want to stop paying monthly subscriptions to multiple third-parties & start paying 1 subscription for access to whatever you want to use in the all-in-one one platform. 😁
So relatable!
Yay! I'm so glad to hear that. Hope it was helpful for you! 😁
Thank you 😊

Thank you for the informative video! I'm currently facing a frustrating issue with my privacy policy's accordion functionality. When I click to close an accordion, the entire content shifts downward, leaving an unsightly empty space at the top. Have you encountered this problem before?
Without seeing the issue, it sounds like the content just isn't aligned to the top of the block, which is a Squarespace setting. I have a picture of that setting in this desktop vs mobile section in this blog post: www.launchthedamnthing.com/blog/5-tips-for-responsive-design-on-fluid-engine#Tip_%E2%9D%BA:_Desktop_vs._Mobile_Changes 😃
@@launchthedamnthing I tried to reply to your comment two time and the comment got delete because I as trying to add my website privacy policy link so that you can have a look at the issue I am talking about. I will try again: uphold-.-agency then add a slash add the end and put privacy-policy.
@@launchthedamnthing Hi again, I have found a solution to the issue. The content doesn't shift down anymore and everything seems to work fine. Thank you!
CONGRATULATIONS! I'm excited to start my process. 🤞it happens as easy as it happened for you.
Thank you! Good luck with your process too. 😊
Thank you Katlyn, you make my life more easier now.

How do we add those check marks for the terms and conditions and also the checkbox to add them to convertkit list?
Good question! ThriveCart has a few how-to/support articles on those parts of set up, so I'd start with that. It's not hard, but has a too many steps to guide ya here in a comment; hopefully these will help ya work it out though! 😃 ✔ How to add the T&C checkbox in checkout: support.thrivecart.com/help/adding-terms-conditions-to-your-checkout-page/ ✔ How to add a custom checkbox in checkout for opt-ins: support.thrivecart.com/help/custom-fields/ ✔ How to integrate ConvertKit with ThriveCart: support.thrivecart.com/help/convertkit/ ✔ How to add customers to your autoresponder (in this case, ConvertKit): support.thrivecart.com/help/adding-customers-to-your-autoresponder/
I’ve been searching for this as I knew there must be some sort of order, thank you!!😊
You're welcome! So glad it was helpful! There's not a whole lot of information on it, so if you want to dive in a little further, check out the whole video & other notes here: www.launchthedamnthing.com/blog/choose-color-palette-and-edit-color-themes 😁
