A Day in the Life of Vintage Classic Specialist, Episode 185, 69 Cal Look front steering & brakes!
Today I finished the front suspension, brakes, and steering on the 69 Cal Look bug. And of course, I had to test fit one of the beautiful Fuchs! I also got the rear drums back from machining for the '68 Double Cab. They clear the wheels now!

A bunch more progress was made on the '64 beetle today, including installing the windshield, speaker, some more wiring, rear view mirror, and sun visors. Today Rafa finished restoring the '64 beetle speedometer, wiper assembly, headlight switch, and wiper switch and installed them all. Today our customer with the Yellow '71 Ghia took that baby home and brought in his '68 Manx buggy, which, like the Ghia, has been sitting for decades! it will be getting a full restoration and is going to be a killer little car! Today I focused on the 69 Cal Look beetle. I was going to have new ball joints pressed into the front arms, but the arms were pretty beat up and worn on their bearing surfaces. Also, the beam itself seemed to have very worn out inner bushings. The rear axle bearings were also toast! Today I continued on undercoating on the 69 Cal Look bug, and it came out nice! I also tapped all the fender, bumper, and running board holed. I got the axle housings back from powder coating so I started assembly on the rear axles. I got the underside of all 4 fenders cleaned up and undercoated, painted the rear suspension, frame horns, and shock towers and got the back masked for undercoating.
