I was gonna play magic wirh my geandma hey can my grandma be one of the cards
I was gonna show my mom world of warcraft but dhe said no because she thinks she would get fired from work frol playing it too much and not going to work
Yo ayo do charmed charmed edition charmed and buffy the vampire yo do do diablo 2 edition of cards
Bringing in new players cannot come at the expense of enfranchised players or you will lose both.
"ae"="e= " Aether"=" ether" " Daemin"=" demon"
Makes assassins creed cheap so I can’t be mad I love ac
I find balancing in mtg is often done through powercreep and as no new LOTR cards are being added a mechanic like tempted by the ring gets power crept rather quickly. Hell its barely playable now, wraiths, the card that wants tempts most, cant even have a mono colour deck without being more proliferation than tempting.
Holy shit, finally someone talking sense! UB isnt magics problem it's WOTCs shitty writting and publishing more cards in general. I generally find majority of the magic community likes to fear monger.
Hot Take: The most fun commanders ive made in recent history have ALL been UB commanders. Edward Kenway, Ultra Magnus, Mothman....
If the criticisms are unproductive and petty then why dwell on them?
My opinion on the matter is that they should not be making Standard legal UB sets. I understand that they want to get new players into Standard but I think this is the wrong way to do it. Standard cards can get decently expensive, and I don’t think that most new players are going to want to spend a ton of money to get into standard. Imagine the next Sheoldred comes from the Final Fantasy set. Not only is that going to make a card featuring a potentially beloved character wildly expensive, meaning people attracted to the game for that card less likely to be able to engage with it, this is going to basically force Standard and potentially Pioneer (there are dozens of us!) players to need to purchase or at least play against these cards that they don’t want to engage with. I honestly don’t think Standard legal UB sets are good for anyone other than the overlap between established players and the fans of the particular franchise that’s crossing over. I personally think that the best way for UB to exist is through the Commander products. The most popular way to play magic is casually with friends. Honestly the fact that the best cards won’t be standard legal, and the fact that the MSRP will keep the prices of the decks as a whole relatively stable will make the cards more accessible. I don’t think it’s a problem that new players won’t be able to go down to their LGS’s Standard events with the cards. Many have Commander nights, and if you’re a new player with friends who already play, it doesn’t hurt to ask if they will play 1 on 1 60 card games without any real format restrictions. I think a much smoother way to ease new players into Standard would be to print some Standard legal cards into UB Commander decks nothing crazy like the super pushed mythics that would drive prices, but like some uncommon pieces of interaction. Maybe 1 or 2 rares. Then maybe you could have the Godzilla treatment for some of the more powerful Standard cards. That way if new players do want to get into competitive formats, they have a better path from Commander, and the UB cards don’t push out in universe cards. That being said, it absolutely isn’t the fault of fans of these franchises. I hope you don’t feel bad for being excited for Final Fantasy just because I don’t like it. Your existence as a Magic player should be valid through the fact that you enjoy the game, not how you engage with it or why you started.
Social media is the loudest minority. Most people don’t care enough to either really like or dislike magic and just play it for fun on occasion.
Commander is dogshit.
My thought is that play boosters should have a high rarity that's different that collector boosters. For example put the mana foils in play boosters and not in collectors since they have fractures. Also I don't think many see UB as negative it's just some make no sense like SpongeBob, Miku, My Little Pony just doesn't fit the lore but what do I know we are getting aetherdrift sooooo....
Sorry mate, saying arena needs commander immediately makes your opinions irrelevant.
3/4 out of 4 i agree with. Even tho i really only play commander it staying out of arena is better for magics long term health. And ub is fine i just think they are doing to much and i don't think they should be core sets.
Appreciate you voicing a lot of good points regarding UB in practice. As someone who came to the game for the first time because of UB (Fallout is my jam), it's disheartening to read so many accounts from people complaining that it's "ruining" the game. I agree with and can empathize that the constant stream of content is a lot, but I also think that it's okay and even healthy to pick and choose what interests you (though I can see the problem for 60 card competitive formats). I especially agree with your points about the existing Magic IP and it's general appeal. There are some characters and stories I've become interested in exploring, but overall the story and writing... It's fine? It just doesn't hook me like other nerd IP I'm into and that's okay if other people love it for what it is. Just think it's funny people policing what does and doesn't break their narrative immersion/feels like Magic when a trading card game isn't necessarily the greatest medium for collaborative and emergent story telling. I wonder if Wizards has an IP more focused on that kind of experience... 🤔 Regardless, I hope people are able to find love and passion for this game in the face of some of the frustrating choices that Wizards might make as a company regarding it.
That's a very fair opinion. I belive it's a positive for magic, however with 50% of 2025 realises being UB sets, it could quickly lose its own lore rich sets in the shuffle. If that happens then why not be playing lorcana or a similar game. Magic has made it to where it is today by being a string ip and I hope players remember that.
same but warhammer 40k
At least you know your universes beyond opinion is trash, self awareness is important.
I bought a booster box, not only did I get 2 Revs, but also Aphelia, 2 Shroofuses, Taeko, and Kodama. I do believe I got my money back from those.
The fate of basically every player is that eventually wizbro will discard most of what you like about the game in the name of better quarterlies(and relatedly never spending an appropriate amount of money on the story and worldbuilding for more than a single set once in a blue moon) Nothing any of us think about the direction of the game actually matters
I have never liked collector booster, I have always felt that the contents of them should of always been in normal draft/play boosters.
The first set that didn´t happen in the Magic multiverse was released in 1994 with the release of Arabian Nights, which was also the first non core set released, this is something many have forgot.
The secondary market is killing magic with the crazy upcharge, and I don't believe most of 2025 is going to be great for it. Two sets might be big next year and my guess is the dragon set I forget the name of and Edge of eternities
I think the way WotC plays into that secondary market is awful. The artificial scarcity seen with Secret Lairs only benefits scalpers and it suuuucks.
Universes beyond is a fine concept, if done like once a year, using art that respects the source material (Looking at you Lord of the Rings) and as long as it doesnt take away from the internal MTG lore/storytelling. ATM its none of these. Likenmost things moderation and quality are key.
I mean it'll never take away from magics lore and storytelling. MTG isn't reliant on crossovers like fortnite for its story. And WOTC has a lore team which UB likely doesn't pass through. Magics already had a bad habit of riding on other stories, neon dynasty for example. So it seems to be that WOTCs story is killing itself through draw out than UB.
MTG & FF are a match made in heaven, keep up the good work
Cloud fighting Spongebob using Captain Americas Shield with trample from the Hulk being protected from The One ring, and My little Pony auras, being blocked by Pip Boy.. yeah hard pass. 10000 new mechanics and 15-30 min turns became the end for me. Are you the Monarch? Is it night or day? Does this trigger work? Who has draw effects? What has flying, deathtouch or reach? Are the manifest or morph crestures? Oh you have Ward... plays card. 1 second later.. counterspell. Ok lets go through all of this thought process again... declare combat... ok now what happens? Ok, 2nd main... end step... well on your end step im going to play an instant... wait that causes a broken combo, i thought we werent playing cEDH... its impossible to know every single permutation and not accidentally have some weird combo/broken turn that you never purpsoely included anymore. Well lets discuss how this works. Ok 3 people cant agree because of 3 different cards on the battlefield. Anger. Salt. I conceded. 3 hour game just isnt fun most times
This sounds like the normal magic issue and just slapping some named characters on there. And could easily be corrected. Gishath fighting gale, using sword of hearth and home with trample from tiamat being protected from swords to plowshares and Eldraine auras, being blocked by Avacyn? Yeah. I'll pass.
I have two sides to my feelings on it. On one hand, some of the UB cards are soooooo good and fun. My favorite commander deck in 10 years was Evior, Battle Ready from Assassin's Creed. The Fallout and Dr. Who decks are super flavorfully fun. Yet I can't help but feel this will tank the game in a few years from now after they run out of BIG things to put into the game, slowly getting more and more niche. Idk, we'll see. Magic as whole is getting worse imo in general. Standard is going to be massive. The way they handle Commander is problematic. Their digital fronts are both a joke and awful to use for different reasons. Power creep and complexity creep plus the weight of 30 years of this game is noticeable in the design. I feel sad knowing I'll probably stop playing this game much sooner than I thought.
it's not just universes beyond, the community has just been burned out the last 10 years. the amount of sets that have been blasted through just made for a general "i don't care anymore" vibe for everyone that loved magic for years. the community is tired and has been for years. imo magic will actually be dead soon bc wizards only focusses on getting a lot of sets out and trying to attract new players, while removing the founations the game was built on. nodody cares anymore it's just too much too little good stuff. not even talking about the secret lair money Hussle
Thank you for all the feedback on this video so far. I understand this is a very sensitive topic. Remember, you have every right to be angry and concerned about the future of something you love. I definitely didn't mean this video to come across as dismissive. It's just extremely difficult to navigate this conversation without upsetting a large portion of people. I hope that you watch the whole video before commenting, and know that my current opinions aren't gospel. I'm open to change, but please try and be civil in the comments. For those of you that skipped directly here. TLDR: Universes Beyond isn't the problem, it's Hasbro and WotC's focus on monetization. Edit: After a brief read through of the comments, I do agree WotC should be focusing less on chasing $$$ and more on creating a product that enfranchises every type of player. Do you think less sets per year would be helpful? I really want to hear your ideas.

Great video. Feels nice to have a positive opinion on this topic.
_ In an glass orb depicting an alternate universe in which i am the CEO of magic the gathering_ See me walk in to the office with a giant ball of gum in a see through bag So i started chewing gum in the 1990s i then started picking up different colored used gum from all over the place and sticking them together. Its 2025 people can you tell me what direction this thing is. _slaps it down on the center of the table_ Person A in room : That's disgusting i wouldn't want to even think about that. Me: So if i paint it different would you buy it Person A: No why would I even. Me: Right so why do you and everyone else in this room assume that strangers will be okay with this if instead of gum we put in rules and setting tropes. Person B in room : You think magic is a ball of ideas that has no direction. Me: Yup , so were gonna pick a direction and build an actual plotline which is gonna last us the next 5 years. Were gonna release settings and cards based on that plotline. It will see random at first but after the whole thing is released the people who followed will see a clear cut story and the people who didn't will easily be able to trace things back. We will release not just general commercials but small vignettes based on the characters and world while also showing gameplay. Getting both audiences invested. Once we have an actual IP that's focused and not confusing we will then make Magic VS which is basically going to be Universes Beyond 2. 0 Were gonna be making those crossovers once a year instead of the rapid fire of the past because we are going to build the crossover into the story. Why is Capcom kicking our ass when it comes to how to do a crossover. Person A: Magic isn't a fighting game Me: Magic has an hp bar you win by making the other person hp go down to 0 there are convoluted mechanics and lore pushed through pretty art work .As for our fanbase it argues over metas.. I don't know kind of sounds like a fighting game to me. Stop being dishonest about our identity. Person A: But people like magic they care about the story. Me: No they don't, they remember little small parts and feel mostly removed from it also we have so many screw jobs and backstabs in the current story that some of our older fans literally hate certain characters for reasons which new players don't understand . Why do you feel a new player will come in thinking like this. I wanna play the card game where the more i'm invested the more miserable i feel yeah right no we are pivoting to a focused story that will involve the player and the decks they play directly. We need to build a brand and then after that we bring back and build into the story the crossovers. I want to reward people paying attention not punish them. Person B: But lore is important Me: Yeah tell that to the people who bought into FNAF also im sure people who play Slivers or Rapidly growing plants that regenerate 1000 health a turn care so much about our Lore. Now lets sit down were gonna build a set of story arcs list out all the characters and balance out the colors. Once we get things set here in these next couple days we can focus on making mechanics and re introducing some but not all over a slow trickle But we need to create a focused IP people. Without a focus we are not a setting we are a system we are GURPS With cards. Person A: What's a GURPS Me: A Dead IP that hasn't been legit since 2004 so lets get _ before the word cracking happens the screen cracks and shatters and returns you to normal reality where i am just someone typing to you _ So yeah i'm gonna subscribe i agree with allot of your concerns also thanks for the fun writing exercise. I hope you enjoyed it Commander. thanks for being the first new channel i discovered in 2025.
That was incredibly creative. 😊
As a magic player from 2013, who took a 5 year break and came back over a year ago, the game is undeniably gonna change and be different as time passes. I love that change for the same reason I love the game and the lore and all things Magic. Its a chance for creativity, its a chance to creatively and enjoyably add to the game of Magic. We can speculate on why changes are happening but cant ignore the changes themselves. Changes like blatant monetization strategies at WotC: 6+ sets a year, 1/2 sets being UB (which now will be unique cards with no in universe equivalents- i.e. never reprinted), firing 1000 employees. Theres a clear message that WotC wants new players to the game , esp with so many UB sets and the format legality changes, AND an equally clear message that WotC wants to make money. The premise of these are not necessarily negative, in fact I would venture to say those are amicable positive goals for the company. The problem comes with the how. In my experience with the community and reading up, the true issue is the attempts at these goals at the expense of Magic IP or at the expense of creativity/player enjoyment. Personally I like UB (maybe not for all formats tho) and I want WotC to be a successful business. I like new themes in Magic, whether thats UB or "gimmick" or other sets, and I think a lot of ppl would too if done right. BUT I feel the frustration when I see where the attention is and where the attention isnt, where they are making changes and developments and where they arent. I agree with a lot of points from the video, if not all of them, but I do think UB should be a casual (commander only) ADD-ON to the game of Magic not a staple of it. The great narratives and sense of community that WotC hopes to attract with outisde IP in UB sets, they NEED to develop and create within Magic the Gathering. My indestructible, hexproof (foolproof), vigilant, miraculous, infectious, undying plan: pay daddy Hasbro to shut up, save a little money, hire more/better CREATIVES (designers, artists, writers), only 4 sets a year: 1 high fantasy for the OGs, 2 "gimmick" sets (both in same plane tho, develop it write it give it time to simmer), 1 UB for newbies, and finally make GOOD merch/movies/tv/video games. Boom done, dont thank me, thank yourselves for making this game great. I retire and we all live happily playing Magic well into our 80s and 90s. Thank you for the video, it was great! Well thought out and well articulated!
Honestly I really like your take. Add moving Secret Lairs back to Print to Demand and I am in full agreement. 😂
@@CommanderDmg next step world domination!
4:27 Universes Beyond isn't real Magic and long time Magic players should be angry about it. How would you feel about Final Fantasy if every new game going forward had a random assortment of live action movie/tv actors from different shows and also cartoon characters like Spongebob as the main characters and the story was dumbed down to accommodate them all? The reason Final Fantasy is worth anyone's time, like any good property, is because it takes it's universe seriously and maintains a purity of canon to reward that time spend invested. How ridiculous would I sound if I said "I tried Final Fantasy but it was too boring until they made Spiderman a playable character". How obnoxious would I be if I said "why are you angry bro? I never played Final Fantasy before but it's definitely better now. This is what Final Fantasy needed" If Square Enix did what WotC are doing, you would be making videos about how Final Fantasy has lost it's way but you're happy for us to dilute our game equivalent of Final Fantasy for people who were never interested in it in the first place. If someone needs a property to be utterly transformed into something else before they can even be interested in it, perhaps they shouldn't be involved at all. Maybe it's just not for them.
I'm a long time MTG fan, and thank God there's a dude in comments telling me how I SHOULD feel. Don't tell me what opinion I can and can't have. Don't even try and make me agree with YOUR opinion when you say since we in the same boat I MUST agree with you. I don't. UB means nothing to me cause they are still "Magic" cards. You know trading cards, pokemon, yugioh... you know they are same "Market" right? Different audiences, same market. So you wanna not like it, fine, go do you. But you say to me, I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOUR OPINION, ohhhh imma BUY MORE now. I don't like what Hasbro has done but, YOU, YOU make the hobby unfun, you take the joy away by demanding the world bends to YOUR WILL. You can eat my shorts if you can't fathom a world where UB actually FUNDS future sets. You don't buy enough product, you didn't "consume" enough so now more have to come in and save Hasbro. How does not giving a company money solve the problems with money? It's THEIR greed? But it's YOUR money, you volunteered your time and money, TO A COMPANY. Every long time Magic fan, is a fan of a Toy Company... you own NOTHING in MTG, you just have playing cards. They can do whatever they want with their company, you accusing other fans for THIER decisions is unbelievable and a catch 20/20 because your own negative opinion just makes me want to support the company I like more, you pushed me MORE towards capital decisions by forcing me to think exactly as you rather than giving any "fan", ie consumer, no agency over THEIR OWN MONEY. I have found "don't like it don't buy it" never stopped loot boxes, or literally every other market that's ever existed... you don't get to apply a philosophy that exists within business as a critism against one business in particular and not the rest. Thinking you have any power over a business is how capitalism tricks consumers into having opinions... it doesn't matter... it literally doesn't matter... whatever you don't buy someone else will until the market is dried up and evolves into something new, MTG did that literally with Arena... how much money from Arena is going into the paper product? Don't ever tell me how to spend my own god damn money. Use your own or don't. Nut up or shut up, or better yet nut up and shut up and walk out, spend your resources elsewhere. I work for my money and I spend it as I please, you got a problem with that you got a problem with me.
@@c_hoffrun7020 So you "don't like what Hasbro has done" to quote a key line there, but you're more angry at me for expressing that all players should be united against these cash grabs designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator than the actual company doing it. Interesting priorities. But don't worry, I'm not telling you what to do. If you want to waste your money on Universes Beyond slop with the rest of the hogs just to spite the discerning players who care about the level of internal consistency and immersion which the game has historically supported, then rest assured, I entirely support your right to continue being stupid.
@ilyafoskin you took one sentence from all that... dude you are so absolutely not worth engaging with.
@@c_hoffrun7020 No, I read it all. But it was a little too incoherent when your conclusion was basically just contrarianism. You allegedly feel pushed to support a company you claim to not agree with simply to spite me because you don't like being told what to do. And I find that strange because if I agreed with someone's fundamental argument, I wouldn't care how they phrased it and I wouldn't concern troll about their manner of delivery. Only people who actually oppose the fundamental point would concern troll as you have.
Disliked. Just so world knows it was me. You missed the point and while being a troll called someone a troll, that's two fer on a Bingo card. "EVERYONE BETTER AGREE WITH ME AND IF THEY DON'T THEIR WRONG!" cry baby. Again you're what's wrong with Magic not Hasbro. There's the point you missed plain as day.
Ironically anyone who is interested in the Final Fantasy lore could play their already existing card game which borrows quite a few of Magics rules and mechanics and which is easily a 10/10 imo. (Final Fantasy TCG)
I wish SE had enough belief in the FF TCG to actually fund & market it properly. 😑
@ a fair response. It’s such a step-child treatment from SE. That being said, it’s easily worth playing even so
“Relies on clickbait” - you weren’t wrong.
Awful practice. We should cancel her.
I hope we are both kidding
I don't agree with almost any of your points. But I appreciate your putting it out there. A couple points that stick out at the end here. Magic is never going to be Pokemon. You are right, but also the amount of people who collect pokemon for monetary value outnumbers people who actually play the game by a huge margin, especially since the value boom during the pandemic with the Paul brothers and all that. Magic is, at its core, a game to be played. As for Lorcana being a formidable rival to magic, this is built on a limited IP, couched many of it's design and play elements from Magic and sells on nostalgia. I predict it will not outlast Magic in popularity. Many, many, many card games have come and go (especially in the 90s) and Magic remains. Magic has a history of expanding it's own IP in many creative ways, sometimes for good and sometimes not. If it could keep doing that, instead of bringing outside IPs into it's standardized formats I think it could be fine. But Papa Hasbro, as with all corporations, is not okay with fine. It needs to increase shareholder value. So it will do whatever it can to make more money.
Very true. I believe the player base of Magic will see a sharp decline in a few years because the people who start playing for an outside IP may not be truly interested in playing a TCG which doesn't feature that IP for longer than one set or one set per year in the case of Marvel. I predict most legacy players will quit the game as I have and that these new IP invested players will form a bubble which will eventually burst as Universes Beyond loses it's novelty factor. Maybe it will actually be the death of magic as Hasbro is so propped up by WotC at this point that one catastrophic year could cause their stock value to crash and force them into bankruptcy.
Fandoms should be gatekept. WotC chased off many of their most avid fans through bad monetisation and misunderstanding their playerbase. Adding universes beyond cards to the Legacy system pits players against collectors in a real FOMO situation beyond what was previously occurring - that friction has always been there, but their bad print run strategy, Collectors boosters, and adding further complicating rulesets with even more universes and terms just continues to unravel what used to be a great game. Personally, I care little, except it makes me sad to see my MtG-playing friends watch their hobby being eroded. You don't need Universes Beyond for an 'easy' entry. I'm sure it is good money, but it also sucks the energy out of the fun alternative systems.
Yes, I agree with the main points. I can add just the context that Universes Beyond was completely unnecessary as Magic was already the biggest TCG on the market at the time. It just wasn't being utilised as a cash cow commodity for Hasbro. They really started looking at it for the first time when the profits from their other divisions dropped enough for WotC to become a major player and they thought, "why aren't we doing what we do with all of out other games? We have Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Marvel and countless other versions of Cluedo, Monopoly and Risk. Let's do that for this silly card game that we've been ignoring this whole time".
Ah yes the erosion that comes from having one Trex fight a dragon instead of another Trex fighting a dragon.
the horror of staring at the boxes of horrible 1970s - 80s mvies in the videclub back in the day. I hae vivid memories of 1988-1990, chceking in on critters, house, Friday the 13th and others. It really gave me nightmares, literally hiding behind the sofa to not see "STREET TRASH" , this was qu9ite a disturbing movie and now on bluray : so i might pick that up..... like the super kit of Duskmourn if it is still there late january 2025 when i get some funds for it !
Can't believe the current price of the Screaming Nemesis... opened one at the Pre-release or in one of my 2 subsequent prerelease kit openings... 58$ US average on ebay wow... hurts. So i will stay at 1 for now. BNUT I got 2 unstoppable slashers. And in an uncommon + commons bulk box i bought at 10$Canadian : i opened 4 x Sheltered by ghost, which keeps rising, making this box cost me -30$ for 800-1000 cards
@19:48 = WO !!! Dungeons & Dragons is NOT a baby of Wizward !!! Woooo woooo... With all due respect: fact checking here!"!!! TSR made D&D, Wizards bought it... you do not say HASBRO has fathered Magic the gathering right? Please addendum this : DUNGEONS & DRAGONS is the baby of TSR, sold to the slavers WOTC! as George Lucas said of him selling star wars to disney
final Fantasy is a Square IP, Dragon Quest is an Enix IP, i do not care what and when they fused, eahc series and iP is the trqademark of the OG company. Period. I am na old school RPG player and mostly retro gamer, i like old stuff and modern stuff depending on the quality, 2024 : 0% new game played on steam. But i played modern retro of the pas t 5 years. bought new games yeah, but mostly retro styled ones. Still : Enix vs Square, vs Squaresoft, vs SquareEnix is super important. Like an RPG, bonafide, aversus adventure rpg (action rpg) which are two separate styles, true old school japanese RPG is turn based party combat RPG mopstly, which differsfrom the active semi-turn based Baldur's Gate OG (on pc) or the action rpg of Diablo (darn i played so much betwen 1998 and 2000) Diablo 1 still the best of all Diablo games, cuz 2 is too diluted , no drama, no gravitas. It's the abzorbalof vs the Heaven Sent dilemma :D
FALSE tyhere is a stqack in Lorcana , it is called "the Bag", the carads go in the bag and LIFO : last in first out... if you control all effect YOU choose the orer of them that are concomittent while they are in the bag....@18:00 I jhoined Doctor Who fandom in 2012, right in time for the festivities of the 50th and the sad decline to the 60-th anniv has some upsoides. Love the Ncuti Gatwa card. but hate the secret lair commercial insult to customers. having to buy it 50$ a card second hand to scalpers is insulting
Sorry about that. I've never played Lorcana. I was going off of info I had heard in another video. I'll have to look into the mechanics of Lorcana a little more clearly. Yeah, my secret lair experiences have been awful so far. I managed to grab the Captain America SL, but that's never an experience I want to have again. They really need to move back to print to order. The current system is a scalpers paradise.
Limit Break = counters like pl;anewalkers, super easy to make into MTG. I am curious is we could get a KINGDOM HEARTS kind of universe beyond in Lorcana now that Disney has ties with Doctor Whop Marvel, Buena Vista managed the SquareEnix x Disney for Kingdom HEarts, ... who lknows! I started Loircana 3 months after MTG , to learn the time turns take in MTG... i don't like TCG where you split turns, i don'T like TCGs with a single card draw per turn, but i adapted to this inferior style of TCG and now i cope ewith its lack luster content. BUT i dream of a MTG with the perfect format : the Marvel DC Versus system, 2004 format. 2 players take turns the same turn, with initiative changing each turn, then you play any card as ressrource, no loand or energy to clog the deck. And you drw 2 cards per turn. Haaaa no game lost to ba draw on turn 1 or 2.
looking at your beanie, I would LOVEEE a zelda-magic collab
Honestly saaaaaame. It definitely fits into the Magic vibe easily.
Magic has destroyed the lore and worth of the classic stuff of the MTG series. Final fantasy has lost its soul when squareenix became a gatcha based company. Square is my life. Squaresoft is my love. Squareenix is not my square. To MTG fans = only Bloomburrow and Foundations feel like True magic.Duskmourn is not cool for MTG oldschoolers. Ask The Magic Historian. Ask The Professor. Honest men.
i have played 60 card formats since 2005 with Marvel DC Versus system, by UDE. I was gifted 2 packs of Doctor Whop universe beyond. But i am sad that Wizards is killing MTG. They are crushing the true worth of magic and cashing in with tons of bad set mashup ideas. There are good CARDS in each set. Karlov? Talk about Archdruid hcharm!! But the fact Standard is 1 set in 4... yeah this is a problem. 60 cards is so much more fun. 1 v 1, 5 minutres to 9 minutes game, 6 gaqmes minimum in the time of a single long boring do nothing cuz 3 people can counter what you doi "commander slobfests" I enjoy some commander : competitive , duel commande. (Cuz in duel commander Sol ring has been banned for long) 1 year of MTG, more than 1200 games of MAgic Arena, I went to 1 billion counters witgh my mossborn hydra (bvideo proof) and now I got to 1billionb and proof the trigger of the hydra stops working arena has a limit of 1 billion my discovery of 2024 ASA ROOKIE mtg PLAYER IN 2024, BUT 20 YEARS tcg EXPERIENCE. i STARTED PLAYING fINAL FANTASY WITH ff1 IN 1990. lIFELONG FAN WHO STOPS AT #9.
The fact that Wizards of the coast are impacting the community so much negatively is a sad fact. To see you target yourself :D why? Nooooooo Thought you'd say some people criticizing the 60 card formats? I've played 900 games of 60 card formats in decembner before the season ended, and i played about 40 games yesterday trying to get BACK to mythic. (i was mythic #1171 at my best in december)
I haven't played Magic for quite a while now, but the algorithm has been bringing the game to me lately. What I see makes me not want to pick up the game again now, though. I don't like how much more aggressively WotC is trying to monetize the game these days, I don't like how the eb and tide of new additions to the game has been replaced by an everlasting spoiler season. But I also don't like what they're doing with the flavor of the game. This goes for some of what I've gathered about recent sets, but much more so with licensed ip. The idea of being in a game of magic and suddenly playing against SpongeBob or the TARDIS does not appeal to me. I prefer a consistent continuity over everything being thrown into the blender. And the recent announcements that UB will be legal and so much of it will be made that they're pushing back normal sets is things getting worse, not better. And the designers saying "you can just not play them" is tone deaf in my opinion. However, I have nothing against the players who like this. My gripe is with the game and its creators. Just like your defense of these changes isn't gatekeeping against me, criticizing and disliking the changes isn't gatekeeping against you.
