    Nice work, though I guess I would say it's more about the overall history and theory of cinematic language rather than it is a visual history. Also, note that you might want to put names through Google to hear how they are pronounced: Andre Bazin and George Meliès - I mean, it doesn't take 2 minutes, and at least you'd be saying the names right (seriously, it was painful to hear those being butchered). Other than that, great stuff - thank you.

    Rappers acting all gangsta because they got shot and lived. Man try telling that to an actor that worked with Kubrick.

    Well if someone is presenting a show on Cinematic Language then a short briefing on German Expressionist cinema and also on Andrae Tarkovski is well expected. Nevertheless.

    I suspected as much. This was technically before my time but its essentially what happened to 'Megaupload'! Here's a question though - why did VHS win over Betamax? Betamax was better. I would know. I was around at the time that VHS won out for some reason!!

    • @CoolCatMedia
      @CoolCatMedia ปีที่แล้ว

      It basically came down to money. VHS decks were much cheaper to produce and were also less bulky and weighty on average. So JVC was able to undercut Sony in the market. From my research some people say another contributory reason was that VHS had more p*rnographic tapes on their platform. Talk about sign of the times!

      Politics aside, it was a major landmark in film history in regards to storytelling and the capabilities of film as a medium. Just as Battleship Potemkin was a landmark film being one the of the first movies utilizing Kuleshov school of film techniques (kuleshov effect), despite many of its obvious propagandistic flaws. That’s why those movies were shown.

    Students of cinema: find this if you can! "The Story of Film: An Odyssey" is a 2011 British documentary film about the history of film, presented on television in 15 one-hour chapters with a total length of over 900 minutes. It was directed and narrated by Mark Cousins, a film critic from Northern Ireland, based on his 2004 book The Story of Film.
