Here's what I have to say about this list: 2007: True. Many people attended this celebration and I rank it as the most recorded celebration in the square. Also, if you listen closely, the crowd countdown is early, likely because the countdown display by Target has the numbers land slightly early from the ticks. 2022: Not what I would expect. It's the second emptiest celebration. You should put this behind 007. 2009: True. Maddox ranked this as the third loudest behind 2000. The crowd countdown was also early. I would put this above 011. 2011: True, unless you exclude the world's loudest horn. 1987: True. Ear-piercing. The crowd was louder the Clark on the a87 broadcast. 2020: True. Sounds like the loudest and longest crowd countdown. If you listen closely, you can easily hear the crowd say "thirteen, twelve, eleven...". I remember when I said "they should've booed" because the countdown display on the upper screen was way too early. I would put this behind 009 and above 022. 2015: True. If you look at that apartment view with the full tower and the 9:16 ratio, it really shows how loud it is. This crowd was also early. 2016: True. Another early crowd countdown for no reason at all. I still think this it more silent than 015. 2000: True. No need to reason. 1946: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
1999 should be on that list

Some thoughts on this rendition. I'm able to sence some nerves in her voice, and I don't blame her. Performing for a crowd of a million people (official estimate that year according to WABC-TV), and millions more on television, at the age of 25 no less, is a big ask. Overall though this was a solid rendition. But man that instrumental. Absolute chills.

I disagree with 2011 and 2015. I would’ve added 2024 1981 and 1989 on there.
i think 1989 had a loud crowd to
That had to be with color.
The news archive I got this from was apparently recording everything in black and white until 1979. I'm positive the original broadcast aired in color though.

Yes, this is the Allied Chemical we all know because of the Allied Chemical Tower! The company continued to exist for many years after the sign on the tower came down in 1973. The company merged with Signal Companies to become AlliedSignal later in 1985. The company then acquired Honeywell in 1999. So yeah, Allied Chemical is basically Honeywell now

Ok.
Possible new discovery about this footage! First off, credit to Louis Ojeda Jr who had this footage in a TH-cam upload, and in the video of his with this footage there's also footage from ABC, and there's a KVUE on-screen bug for part of the ABC footage. Looking at TV listings from Austin, TX (KVUE is the ABC affiliate in Austin, TX), KVUE aired NYRE live in the central time zone, which means the ball drop aired at 11:00 central time. Fox's special that night, Billboard's Rock n' Roll New Year's Eve, aired on tape delay on KTBC, the Fox affiliate in the Austin market, which is most likely the affiliate this Fox News footage was taped off of. Since this Fox News footage most likely aired live on KTBC, it probably interrupted programming on the Fox affiliates that weren't in the eastern time zone, since I saw nothing for Fox News on the TV listings for the local Austin, TX stations. And for those of you who still think this is from the Fox News cable network, at 1:59 in the video the reporter says "Continuing coverage on Fox News Channel on cable and satellite, goodnight" meaning that they were ending the Times Square coverage on the main Fox network and moving the coverage over to the Fox News cable channel.

I'm afraid we only have home movie footage of that ball drop. This Fox 2000 ball drop I found in late 2022 and I said in the description who uploaded it
I am very much aware that RT is a Russian-owned pro-Putin propaganda network, so lemme make something clear. I DO NOT support anything that Vladimr Putin and the Russian government are doing, especially in regards to the war in Ukraine. Let's all pray for the people in Ukraine and hope everyone there is alright!
In case y'all are confused, this is an off-air recording I found in a comparison of networks made by Trey2413. The previous one I had uploaded was from cbs.com and didn't have the CBS logo and the WCBS legal ID on the bottom left, so this is what actually aired on television and not some recording from a website
