If you have never had the chance to drive Gravina you’re missing out! There’s about 25 miles of drivable road there. Tons of places to hike and explore, lakes, creeks, and muskegs! No 4 wheel drive required, unless it’s snowy…. Be careful as there are lots of log trucks working over there and often some of the roads are closed because of that. But many are always open! Go enjoy Gravina!!

We stayed at the Blarney Castle Motel then did a walk to, around and UP the Blarney castle stairs to the Blarney Stone, where we did kiss the Blarney Stone. The stone is in a weird place and you have to lay back and bend backwards to reach it. Beautiful grounds surrounding the castle!

I certainly will! I am fascinated with ancient Egypt, I’m currently doing a thesis on the building techniques of the old kingdom in comparison to the middle and new kingdoms with a mention of the predynastic Egyptians as well. My research is mostly investigating why the old kingdom building techniques and scale begin to get worse as time progressed into the middle and the new kingdoms of the later dynasty’s. The Predynastic Egyptians, which can date back 7-9 thousand years ago (pretty much Stone Age humans) were able to manufacture granite vases with impeccable precision that is almost certainly manufactured by some advanced methods lost to time. There is also clear as day drill marks all over Egyptian stones near the sites, core # 7 specially. That was almost undoubtedly done by a tube drill and you can see the striations and with a cotton string test you can calculate the downward decent into the stone for every horizontal rotation and it 500X more efficient then what we could do today. Now the debate comes from whether the drill was fast or slow moving which can’t exactly be determined by the cuts themselves but it does show that for every horizontal turn the tube drill descended into the granite at a l calculable rate. (granite can be an 8 on the mohs hardness scale ) at a rate that is 500 times better then what we can do with it with todays modern tools and machines. Either they had a lost technique or technology to cut these incredibly hard stones or
We used Memphis Tours to set it all up for us, all a private tour with English speaking guide and personal driver. Let me tell you, GET A DIVER! Cairo is right up there with Mumbai and Thailand as far as crazy drivers! Our guide had two masters in Egyptian history! Extremely Knowledgable! I cant recommend them highly enough! You can set the tour up how ever you want, its just time and money. Without a great guide I dont know how you would get access to much of the sites and study them.
This is exactly the kind of hard bags I’d like to add to a Shadow I intend to by in January 2023. Are they stock? You should really like the mini mate. I had a Leesurlite trailer I pulled behind an St1300 for almost five years. So much better than sleeping on the ground. Watch your tongue weight or it will sway. Is this a 1100 Shadow or a 750? Do you have a vid for the rear rack install? You have a real talent for this work. I like those turn dow exhaust too. Very cool.
