Lyrics: Inside of us there's something screaming Screaming that there's something wrong You tell yourself that you're just dreaming You simply have to carry on There's no one to turn to You're on your own You're just another Rolling Stone Your head full of rainbows, you ride the storm And it's cold but you feel warm You've been on the wild side Since the day you were born And you are not supposed to cry Just keep on keeping on Don't ask me why For everyone there is a heartache This no one can deny seems like this time it's never ending I can't remember what it's like To love and to hold you All through the night It feels so wrong but that's all right Who can I complain to, we're all alone Another Rolling Stone Heart full of moonshine, you're Rolling home And you're not supposed to cry You just have to carry on Don't ask me why To love and to hold you All through the night So hold your baby tight Love can just slip away into the night And you're not supposed to cry Just keep on keeping on Don't ask me why Another Rolling Stone Heart full of moonshine You're Rolling home
One of the most incredible song writers of all time, with his abilities almost totally submerged. Thank god a small subset knew and admired him so. If you are here, chances are, that's you. Thank you.
I'll n'er disparage any band who had to compete for listeners during the British Invasion and its aftermath. Hell, they never got air-time. But I couldn't find a spot in 'my heart' for a band that became famous for all the wrong reasons.
[09 November 2021] Perhaps the saddest song he ever wrote. Every time he sings, "And you're not supposed to cry", it makes me feel (in spite of everything) like crying. This sounds, to me, like the song of a man who's been left behind by the zeitgeist, running against the wind (like Bob Seger said). It just makes me feel sad to think of Kevin in the '80's, addicted to heroin and making albums that he didn't really believe in anymore.
Conga Se Menne, aka "Derrell Syria Project" is an amazing group of musicians. Seen them several years ago in St. Ignace and a few times since, and they always deliver an outstanding performance. I was immediately hooked. Their music is infectious! Makes you want to move. Buy their double CD--you won't be disappointed!
Genio absoluto. Su obra completa es maravillosa. Gracias Kevin por tanta musica.
Epic !!!
The best San Francisco psychedelic band ever
"Kevin Fuckin' Ayers" indeed. One of my favorites ever.
What a song!! What a guitar solo!! Kevin and Ollie true troubadors riding off in the sunset!
Excellent song written by Peter Lewis from Moby Grape's underrated 1971 album "20 Granite Creek."
I love it.

Yes. Just this. Yet he then captured his own disillusionment so poignantly.
@@progfan5239 [04 August 2022] Thank you so much for writing back to me. I'm glad you could see what I meant.
How is he so relevant? All the time
I love how the TH-cam algorithm tries to hide this song. Can't hide it from me.

As the world around me literally burns (Washington wildfires 2020) this song has provided me much solace.

They deserve to be in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame !!!
Last verse, second line: And I seen my living look like...

Another sublime song from a band that could really tug at the heart strings.
Great song! KInda' wish The Byrds had done a cover of this; Roger McGuinn's 12-string would've been amazing.
Correction to lyrics for last line:"Was the fear that I did not feel love, as I met my death today."
Thanks, I'll update.
1508 views. I guess I'm accountable for 100 a 150... Buy this bloody album, it's a classic.
Glad to know this band/album hits a sweet spot in others as well.
Great track....
Phat Matt, you are a very dear friend. Just thought I'd type it here.
