Feels like a yoga teacher training to me😅 The combination is pure magic. My creativity is soaring, and I feel so grateful for this quick escape and being surrounded by wonderful Bali flora and fauna🧘♀️ In between, I’m indulging in massages, daily swims in the pool in our Shinta villa, spa treatments, and vegan meals from amazing Amrita restaurant. Thank you so much Olga for all your precious advices. You said that if you work for clients you use Procreate. So, For what do you use watercolor and markers? You don’t use them for clients commissions?
Hi, Lina 👋 Nice to hear from you. I did use markers and watercolour a lot for my commissioned drawings, I do use them now from time to time when it's the client's intention. With Procreate it's just easier to make changes to your drawings, that's why it's faster for me to do custom sketches in Procreate. I use watercolour and markers for teaching as well, since a lot of interior design schools want to see hand-rendered sketches pen on paper.

You might like to reconsider this video because for one thing, this certainly isn't how french design works and I really don't think this is how italian design works either. Chair legs are very characteristic of each period and one of the easiest ways to identify the origin of a chair: Louis the 14th style of chair is characteristic for its very STRAIGHT legs. In terms of the choosing of loud fabrics for the upholstery, this is a very recent fashion. It has nothing to do with french design, as it is actually more common in the UK. (Nowadays, the French simply reupholster in textured white or cream) The reason for this choice is that there are a lot (and I mean A LOT) of antique furniture in France. They get mixed in our homes with modern pieces and people always try and come up with new ways to integrate them in the current style: reupholstering them with fashionable fabric is the solution. Furthermore, the whole part on New-Zealand design is missing: the video is cut off halfway through a sentence!...
Thank you for your detailed feedback, it was really interesting to learn about French design from someone who does live in it☺️This video was intended as a fun video, for sure Italian and French design are not framed in this💕 I’m talking here about Louis the 14th and 15th, and have in mind that classic Berge chair, which takes origin in the Louis the 14th and developed further into S-shaped legs. I love this topic and talk about history of furniture in my online course “FURNITURE”✍️✏️📏 To learn about design in NZ, please refer to my blog article, the link is attached in the first comment here, hope you enjoy it☺️
@@schoolofsketching Ok, I think you are talking about the "Bergere" chair? ("Bergère" in french) It is an interesting topic, but eventhough Louis the 14th and Louis the 15th styles seem to be very famous outside France because of their flamboyance, that was over 250 years ago and great many different styles have developed since and have had a greater influence in my opinion. I think you will very much enjoy researching them if you are interested in the subject, as there are absolute treasures of design and invention amongst them. Best wishes 🙂
@@717379 Thank you for the idea, I'll check out contemporary French designs and designers. Maybe you have some favorites to share?:-) P.S. Exactly, I had in mind "Bergère" and always called it "Berge" as I didn't hear the last "-re" in the pronunciation ))
@@schoolofsketching I think you don't hear the "-re" sound because you might be hearing it in an english sentence as in "a Bergère chair": there is a repeat of the "-re" sound because of the word "chair". The accent ends up on the word "chair" whilst the word "Bergère" becomes softer and less audible. In French, we would say "une chaise Bergère" (pronounced "chezz"): "Bergère" is the second word and fully emphasised.
@@schoolofsketching If you are looking for inspiration, the 150 years after the French Revolution saw a great variety of styles, the most notable being "Empire", "Louis-Philippe", "Art Nouveau" and "Art Deco". After that, the Second World War happened and we entered the modern part of the XXth century where furniture is not yet considered antique. If you are interested in modern design, it is a completely different topic.
Perspective drawing is one of my favourite topics, I love it so much and happy to share my knowledge with you. This month of May is all about drawing stairs. Staircase Drawing Series: streaming now on my Instagram Subscriptions ✏️📏✍️😍 Come, join us! Let’s draw together 🙌 Instagram @schoolofsketching
