That's the most desperate, discouraging and despondent feeling ever walking around in the freezing cold of a big, empty, unfamiliar, shit hole city hopelessly trying to just get right, but if you do (once you do) everything feels fine for a little while, you don't feel so down and out and alone anymore, living is a struggle (except when it isn't!!!) I think a junkie lives for (the old junkie addage) that they'll ONLY be sick half of the day and being sick half of the day is worth it because the other half you don't have to feel anything at all, and thats the best felling there is, when the world just melts away and you dont miss it at all, I've been on and off that shit for years and years, this was written in the 1950's but I guess at least some things never change, quitting is easy, its staying quit thats so damn hard, but I guess (or hope) as long as your still breathing its never to late to pray, or to late to try again, Merry Christmas everyone, stay safe 🙏

I have watched this 5 times this past week, because of my own addictions, I won’t be the only addict alone on Xmas in Portland

Been listening to this for 30 years now.

About maybe 30 years ago, on a Christmas Day, I heard this story read on a radio program by Stephen Jerry Bernstein, and that's all I knew about it. I loved it. Funny how memorable moments get lost in the mist, then pop up again in the oddest ways. Your animation is perfect for this story. All that's out there, now is Fentanyl. Any self respecting heroin addict will not use Fentanyl! Go to the Dr for that - for thirty years I was an heroin addict. Fentanyl stopped that.

Fortunately I am coming up on 7yrs clean. The only thing I miss about that lifestyle is all the money and property I lost. I thank God I came thru it with my life.

I'm lucky, during my college years, I watched a fellow student who got hooked on heroin in Germany while in the army, try and trade his girl friend for some heroin. As he tried to talk her into the deal, she began to cry. I learned at that moment, heroin was a drug to avoid.

It was holiday season, the first time I went to rehab. I was 22, a heroin addict and missed Christmas. Getting out, I stayed at my parents house- and their Christmas tree was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.

All junkies and their stories are the same and it's boring.

I got through about maybe 3 minutes of this, the music is too loud and I can barely hear what is being said. Maybe it's just me.

Absolutely Fucking Fabulous. Love how this film finds its way back to my consciousness every Christmas. 20+ years on junk- then I scored for the Immaculate Fix. ✨

So, he walks around looking for something to steal instead of working and serving others for a legal income? Depraved values and immoral. Failed parents. You have a CHOICE in life to live honestly and work serving others with legal goods or services or not. Stay off the dope, kids. I don't find any redeeming value in this nasty story at all.

From the dark, dirty corners of tragic beauty. Whether or not you relate fully to the protagonist, it can be a source of inspiration. Great to see how meaningful it is to those who have ventured down that path.

I wonder if the dope sick kid Danny helped found or remembered a hit he forgot about while ill. I like to think he repaid Danny for his kindness.

"Junky" is a good book 📖 to read when your kicking a habit.

This is absolutely amazing..very realistic except giving his shot away..I don't know any junkies that would do that..if a MFer is dope sick get your ass out there and hustle up a shot like I just did...I actually miss my junkie days...you have never had a passionate relationship until you have had a relationship with heroin..I used to explain it like imagine you meet the absolute most beautiful sexy attractive woman you've ever met..you fall head over heels in love with her..but she is insanely jealous..she wants you all to herself..she gets you in trouble..you will do things for her you never thought of doing before just to be with her once again..to feel her embrace of ultimate warmth..to feel her touch that makes you feel complete..her kiss is worth anything..without her you feel empty inside..without her there is a huge void in your soul that only she can fill...without her life just is not worth living living ..I really feel bad for street addicts nowadays that haven't ever did heroin since it's very hard to get anymore..Fentanyl is very

I spent Christmas with a junkie once. A tiny frightened mixed up girl with a polish accent. Her eyes were as wide and blue as a lake and spoke as softly as an angel. I will never forget her. I hope she made it allright.
