I was the 26th like for what I think was a 1926 record! Thanks for posting! David
@@davidlogansr8007 You better buy a lotto ticket! Anything Reser is sure to entertain. Thanks for watching!
If I had to choose a single twenties band to listen to for a long period, it would be the OM5. Well done Charles!
@luismantaras6460 They were on every labels and popular for a reason. Still my first favorite! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
I almost passed this one by! But, here I see IRVING!!! My favorite vocalist of ALL time. Quite interesting to hear, but as I say, IRVING can sing opera if he wants to. If he sang the telephone directory, it would sound like the voice of an angel.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@FriedrichIDrunagel I posted both sides of this record, check out the "Dem Golden Slippers" . Irving is in full Kaufman glory! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful collection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@billfish7359 Thanks so much! Its a fun room.
OMG!!!!! I would give you a vital organ for this record! My main artist of my collection is IRVING!
@FriedrichIDrunagel No need for that! Its a somewhat common recording, either on Velvet Tone, Harmony or Diva. I have lots of great Irving Kaufman vocals. One of my top favorites. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
Just a great collection! Is there something you focus on? I love uprights too. Thank you for sharing. !
@StevenKasarda Well thank you so much! I'm mostly into acoustic era recordings, which includes Diamond Disc and cylinders as well as early electric recordings. So pretty much anything from 1900 to 1929, with a few exceptions of course. I have another large room that holds most of the 35,000+ record collection. Yet another room has the vinyl record collection and modern players. I love upright models, better sound from a standing position and you can cram more into a room. Lol Thanks for watching!
that's a beautiful victrola!
@charlesradel7587 Thanks so much. Thats my little 4-7 Orthophonic, super machine. Thanks for watching!
Danke dafür dieser Foxtrot wurde bei uns richtig bekannt durch den Film ,, Der Kleine Lord" der immer wieder zur Weihnachtszeit auf dem Fernseher läuft !!!!! DANKE FÜR'S TEILEN. L.G .
How wonderful! I absolutely thrilled you enjoyed and for sharing the memory. Thanks for watching!
Philadelphia Mummers know this song well! They perform it every year on New Year’s Day
Yes they do! I was in a military marching unit, we always got stuck in front of the mummers. Keep cadence with that! Also, if you watch Gunsmoke, it's almost always heard on the piano at the Longbranch.
This is nice and funny Country and Western - Jazz style kind of music ! Am I right ? I know another version of it, can't remember the band. Thanks !
Its definitely a well blended medley of styles. Its likely this version, by different pseudonyms, is on several other dime store labels. Still Adrian Schubert. Its possible I have them too. Somewhere!
@charlescalvert8647 Adrian Schubert, for sure.
Thanks, I’ve always heard this song in old movies and never knew the name of it until now.
@@craigdixon4113 Both songs I uploaded have a long history in folk music. They're familiar to most of us, just not in this dance song manner. Thanks for watching!
so beautiful. really nice collection
@daviddisandro821 Thank you so much. I glad you enjoyed the music and tour. Thanks for watching!
To me is amazing you have those sleeves in such a good condition ! Is this lateral cut the same as for Edisons?
I'm amazed myself at all the original sleeves. I keep finding them, cabinets full of them. These Puritan records are lateral, while Edison Diamond Discs are vertical. Hope you enjoyed this one. Arthur Hall is hysterical. Thanks for watching!
Ah, it wasn’t System of a Down
@JonBailey Nope, they ain't old enough to have written and performed this one. Thanks for watching!
Almost sounds new. Great recording.
@StrangeScaryNewEngland Thanks, its a fantastic band of the period. Even a lesser copy can sound amazing with a rebuilt Orthophonic reproducer. Thanks for watching.
Lovely record, cheers from UK!
@enderjed2523 So glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for watching from the UK.
Fabulous!
@paulDL007 Its a fun late 20s song! So glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for watching.
Such a nice song and sound !! Greetings from Argentina !
@@LeandroSchiel93 Wow, how wonderful to hear from Argentina. I'm so glad you enjoyed the music and thanks for watching.
hi 😊 good time🎶🍷

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
very beautiful 🎶🎶🎶👏👏
Thanks so much.
Oh...what Paul Whiteman, the big man himself, the King Of Jazz, could do to a tune...😚 His is my favourite instrumental version...my ultimate favourite take of Deep Purple is done by Bebe Daniels.😌 Well, mister Calvert you sure know how to pick 'em...and quite modern for you isn't it?🤔😅 The thirties is my fondest decade.💖
@OLD_SOUL1900 Paul Whiteman always had a modern edge, so the sound wasn't too modern for me, its a fantastic arrangement. I also needed the extra time from a 12' record to do my tour. I have quite a bit of 30s jazz, but rarely post anything from that period. Well I'm thrilled you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
@charlescalvert8647 I see.😌 A fine choice to show your fine collection...your musical lounge room is ever so charming.😊 Well in any case, Paul Whiteman's one of the greatest. My thanks!💖 Oh! Do play some '30s Jazz! For me? {Flapper twang}Will ya, huh?🤗
Absolutely glorious! Perfect.
@HarryCrane-vf8sg Many thanks, I appreciate that, and thanks for watching.
The rare vintage music site where the visual is as elegant and transportive as the music. Thank you.
@StevenSmith-nq5xe My goodness, thank you. I try to create a feeling, in conjunction with the music to make the videos more interesting. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this charming travelling !
Thank you! I wanted something a bit different, and a 12" record gave it a more relaxing feel to the video. Thanks for watching!
The band Deep Purple took his name from this song. Because the grandmother of one of the members liked this song.
@@LeandroSchiel93 I only recently heard that, I'm not familiar with the band Deep Purple but I've loved this Whiteman's recording for decades, buying every copy I found. Thanks for watching!
@@charlescalvert8647 Thank you Mr Calvert. The Paul Whiteman's Orchestra and Duke Ellington, in muy opinion are the best of jazz music.
Love this song! I got Al Jolson on a Little Wonder record, that's pretty cute. 1:35 I spy an embossed, one-side-only Victor. I do the same on all my open machines as dust covers. A nice touch and easy to clean with a mini California duster.
Pretty record duster. Such bright nickel on the tone arm. Lovingly cared for.
@@brockshields9336 Oh a little cleaning and polishing the nickel can glow. I really enjoy this little machine. Thanks for watching!
In this sometimes world of doom & gloom, a lively tune to lighten the heart ❤️ ! Thanks for sharing.
@@brockshields9336 Music makes the world a better place. Always the right music out there somewhere. Thanks so much.
I'm back! Love this lively tune! Love your Orfathonic!
@@brockshields9336 Yes, its been a while, welcome back. Glad you enjoyed the music. Its something different, but still amazing. Thanks for watching!
What a delightful piece.
Paul Whiteman's arrangements are always great, so glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
Cheers, Charles! You certainly have a beautiful, small museum dedicated to antique phonographs. I saw a few that I own in there. The accessories and wall art are very special as well. Then you have the libations to go along with your beautifully maintained talking machines as a kind of olive in your martini to top it off. I really enjoyed hearing Deep Purple as you filmed the room. This is my favorite video of yours to date. Well done, sir! 😻
@@audiophileman7047 Wow, thank you so much. I try to keep the lounge in a constant state of readiness, you never know who'll stop by or what drink they may order. This record is a bit later than I usually post but it's quite special, and the 12" let's me take a longer look around. A few more pieces sheet music to be framed yet. I'm so glad you enjoyed it and I really appreciate the kind words. Cheers!
@@charlescalvert8647 Sure, you bet. It was my pleasure. 👍👍👍
Your cinematographer is excellent Just recently understanding how magical this somewhat lost artform is
Well thanks! I time it and do a single walk through, then do the video in one take. I just use my cellphone now, my sony cam went up a couple years ago. I've done a few of these "tour" videos, mostly with jazzy 20s music, there is something different in the room in each video. Thanks again!
Am sure you know the rock music group is named after this song Their grandmothers favorite song I prefer it to any of their songs with full respect
I only just recently heard of the group, actually. I've never heard anything they recorded. I have fox trot versions of this song as well but I'm only familiar with this version and the 20s dance version. Whiteman's arrangements are always quite special. Thanks for watching!
@@charlescalvert8647 I adore Bing Crosby's version and had no idea there are so many versions The trombones are so fruity on this one And there is something to be said for getting the vocals out of the way
@Luckyhotsummer Oh I agree. Something like this, especially Whiteman's iconic arrangement vocals would be an unpleasant distraction.
AWESOME 🎵🎶
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the tour and music.
Excellent, mister Calvert!🤗 This tune is the epitome of "pep"! Loving it tremendously! I hope all is well, dear friend.💖
@OLD_SOUL1900 How wonderful to hear from you! I'm well and trust you are as well. This does have the charming and exuberant feeling from the 20s. I haven't played it in years but it felt so appropriate to share. I'm happy you enjoyed the music and thanks for watching.
@charlescalvert8647 My thanks to you!🤗 Oh yes! I'm fine, just fine. Wonderful to hear from you too and oh so glad you are well, keeping the best music playing loud and proud.😁 Very appropriate and well recieved by me!💖
Beautiful melody celebrating Maryland , how I like those early twenties regarding music ! Your 78's are so clean and free from Scratches, how could it be? That's your State if I i'm not confused
Yes! I'm in Maryland. This charming fox trot with Irving Kaufman's enthusiastic vocals has elements of the song Maryland, my Maryland. I enjoy these early tunes so much. I'm so glad you enjoyed it as well. Once a reproducer is properly rebuilt and sealed, airtight and stable it can make the music come alive, even if worn. Thanks for watching!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@0mega.mechan1c. Wow! Five stars! Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the music.
Incredible sounding accoustic gramophone.
@bill1952 The record is an early electric recording and the Orthophonic reproducer is specifically engineered for those early electric but the sound reproduction is acoustic. The reproducer has been fully restored, which accounts for the sound quality. Thanks for watching!
What a beautiful phonograph. The cabinet is exquisite. A true work of art. My mother owned an antique shop. Us kids would sit around and listen to the 78s. It's a great memory.
@jefferyshaw1931 What a wonderful memory. These machines and records are pure magic, every time I play one. I'm so glad you enjoyed the music and thanks for watching.
Delightful!
I agree, delightful and charming too, always a good song from this band. Thanks for watching!
Toujours un excellent son, très bon enregistrement, j'espère que vous allez bien
Definitely a quality band and singer. A sweet song too. Thanks for watching!
I like when you use the vv 4-3 it's like being in the parlor listening to mine. But I don't have to get out of my chair.
@joeking1722 Ah yes, well getting up is a big part of listening to music on these machines, good exercise. I enjoy this little machine with the big sound. I have more music coming up on the 4-3 eventually. Thanks for watching!
@@charlescalvert8647 Also I' m using your needles not mine.
Fun record! Just think how awesome it would sound if it had been recorded 2 years later. Thanks for posting it.
@ShadowsOnTheScreen These late acoustic Whitemans are always a treat. The early electrics I don't care for that much, not the best quality really, but still enjoyable. I actually prefer acoustic recordings, in person, they sound stunning. Thanks for watching!
Disque très sympa et en super état, brillant, très bonne vidéo 👍
Shiny and jazzy is definitely a good thing. I love these late acoustic discs. I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
Adorei! ❤
Wonderful, so glad you enjoyed it. Definitely a fun record! Thanks for watching.
It's Billy Murray, "That Red Rose Rag" man! I love this! ❤🎉❤
Oh yes! Billy Murray did some great vocals for Paul Whiteman, Jean Goldkette, Shilkret, George Olsen and more during this period. I'm so glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
@charlescalvert8647 Murray had such a wonderful array of musical genres. He was so popular and beloved in the Phonograph Era! Mr. Calvert, please play more of him! ❤️
@nancybilly7614 I will endeavor to play more Billy Murray. I have a bewildering amount of his recordings on 78, Diamond disc and cylinders. I especially love Indianola, I have the Victor record framed with the sheet music. And I posted Alexander's bagpipe bag recently, another favorite.
"The Jazzologist Supreme". This number makes me think of a beautiful stray cat gracefully slinking its way through downtown Memphis, lol! Love it! ❤🎉❤
It was probably the clarinet. Thanks for watching!
