@@PaulaSantosSantos-s1k Cheers! Thanks for watching.
Nice Charles, your cup is still filled, cheers!
@luismantaras6460 Always something to celebrate! When I did this one I had the previous cellphone, wasn't as good as the one now. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
Just wow
@@duckzmcstone7969 Hope that's a good wow! Thanks for watching!
@charlescalvert8647 it's a wow in amazement lol that's such a beautiful rig
Yes, its a big Victor Orthophonic Credenza, from 1926. With restored sound capabilities. Check out my deep purple or rainbow round my shoulders videos, you can see the entire collection. Thanks so much!
This melodic tune inspired the Name if a heavy metal rock back 40 years later.
@David-yw2lv Yes, this is where the inspiration came from for their name. I'm not at all familiar with the rock group, and wasn't aware of their existence until I posted this great Whiteman side. Hope you enjoyed the music and tour, thanks for watching.
@charlescalvert8647 They're best known for the songs Hush and Smoke on the Water.
Great fun, and a favorite Irving Berlin tune. I always played a stride piano version when I was performing at Coke Corner On Main Street USA at Disneyland . I also knew Ann Miller who did this a number for 1947 MGM Easter Parade. She told me her husband threw her down a flight a stairs and was in a back brace when she danced the iconic number.
@SpencerMusicSchool I love these late acoustic dance tunes. Berlin is prolific on these recordings. My goodness, Ann Miller was something, unfortunate to hear but amazing bit of history as well. Hope you enjoyed the music and thanks for watching.
😮 Nice trumpet in between the crying violin! Harry Goldfield wasn't a trumpeter ?
@luismantaras6460 Harry Goldfield was indeed a trumpeter and vocalist, he was with Whiteman's orch for a while too. Jan Garber is a group I always enjoy. Thanks for watching!
@charlescalvert8647 Regarding Garber, many years ago, a special favorite of mine was "If you don't want me... " 78 belonging to a late friend. IT creates a kind of suspense that caught me. It's hard to find in TH-cam.
Search "Charles Calvert Jan Garber" you'll find I uploaded that song some time ago. Its a favorite of mine, I actually have several copies.
amazing 💜
Great underrated Ben Bernie side from his Vocalion days. As others have said, fun solos on this one, especially the trumpet and trombone. Pettis' sax solo is a treat as always. Thanks for this gem!
@FredHallfan Red records are the best, according the sleeve and duster. Certainly a great side, thankfully in good condition. So glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
What model is this Orthophonic? Fun tune. Thanks for sharing.
@@brockshields9336 This is a 1926 VV 4-3. Great little machine. Thanks for watching!
Interesting little lift arm on your reproducer. Handy. Fun little tune that seemed more Ragtime than Blues.
These early dance tunes have a different feel than later genres. Ragtime would be right, encompassing all that jazzy, bluesy goodness too. Yes, the lift bar was an aftermarket device, custom fitted to Exhibition reproducers.
You have a lovely music room and your selection of liquor is outstanding! And where did you find those perfect 10" round frames that you display your records on the walls ? ? ? And of course you cannot go wrong with a Victor Credenza being your favorite machine.
@brockshields9336 Thanks so much! Unfortunately I can't find those frames anywhere now, nobody sells them anymore.
Aw shucks! LOL!
@@brockshields9336 I know, can't find them anywhere. Guess the liquor budget can be increased now.
Just heard this one for the first time... It has a very fun barnyard feel as others have mentioned, super jolly side! I found a copy in a crate I had stashed and thought I'd take a listen, and what do you know, you had it on your channel!
These Domino records, although cheap, low quality recordings rank among my favorite dime store labels. "Keep your skirts down" and "So That's the kind of a girl you are" on Domino have the same feeling, I think I uploaded them years ago. Super fun stuff! So glad you enjoyed the music and have found one yourself. Domino is quite scarce these days. You can search "Charles Calvert Domino" and see the others, all wild stuff. Thanks for watching!
@@charlescalvert8647 I agree -- it seems that of the dimestore labels I come across, especially as far as these Plaza ones go, Domino shows up the least, and sadly so, because there is great material as you said on Domino!
Thank you for your preservation efforts!
@@TheJorgSacul Thanks for watching! I wish I had more room for preservation.
I've got this one somewhere, too... A very silly and enjoyable side of Reser's, and the Tom Stacks vocals are always such a delight! I'm putting a Harry Reser on my channel this evening as well to celebrate his birthday, too.
Oh! I didn't know you had a channel, I need to check it out asap! I actually have this on Harmony and Velvet Tone, "Jerome Conrad" which is also Reser. So glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching! I'm off to visit your channel!
@charlescalvert8647 thanks! I don't like promoting my channel, but I thought I'd mention it because I actually have a seemingly rare take of a Harry Reser record I am posting tonight... I try to post interesting and (sometimes) rare dance records as well as undigitized content that I like. And of course, Fred Hall music whenever I can find it!
I subscribed. Have you any Fields and Hall recordings, like their country or others? I have a crate full to post sometime, I did upload their Temperance is Coming and 11 more months and 10 more days.
@charlescalvert8647 I do have 3 of their country records. 11 more months, I also have "Old Barn Dance" and one of their OKeh country recordings.
Excellent! I probably have 80 to 100, so many labels and odd songs. I really need to upload them. The Honey Swamp Stompers (Fields and Hall) is another great one I did upload. Their Temperance is Coming on Brunswick and Amos and Andy on Diva are among my favorites.
Wild! They definitely ain't drinkin' ginger ale.
Something special was in the ginger ale I'm sure. Thanks for watching!
Love it 👏👏
Thank you!!
Another great tune that was good for a laugh. I had to be persistent in wooing my Bride of 47 years but would never have gotten out of line. We were both in the U.S. Marines when we met. It could definitely be dangerous dating back then. 😉
@MadDog8932 Certainly a different time, and humor. Some versions say eye, some say jaw, either way it's a good laugh. 47 years? That's just awesome, and thanks to both of you for your service to the country.
Another great listen Charles!
@joejohnston3591 Well thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I love these early 20s acoustic discs best I think. Thanks for watching!
Hello Charles, I'm having fun listening to your early Victor with it's double entendre lyrics !
@luismantaras6460 Its an outdated cultural depiction. Its also a fun and fantastic record with Billy Murray. Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
Hello Charles I'm having fun listening this victor with the double entendre? lyrics !
I love your videos, the bee's knees!
@joejohnston3591 Thanks so much, glad you're enjoying them. Edison versions are always a but special, and slightly longer. Thanks for watching!
Incredible collection, how did you manage to acquire so many of them
@pryebloo63 Well thanks so much! I restore and collect, this is a downsized collection, as I used to sell them. Many years of work, sill want a couple more though. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for letting me enjoy another of your records. I haven't found your videos around for awhile unless I just keep missing them.
@fredvaladez3542 Stop by any time for some good music. I've uploaded quite a few since this one, but TH-cam is doing something odd with subscribers notifications. Thanks for watching!
Our family has an old upright Victrola like that. The main spring has probably been broken since the 1940s. For a while we had a stereo record changer in it. It has a date on the back of 1914 - just on the verge of obsolescence as radio was coming on the scene.
@B-and-O-Operator-Fairmont Those main springs can be replaced. When one breaks, it can quite a noise. These winds are great when the power goes out. Thanks for watching!
Due to the audio clarity, this is obviously an electric recording. Coming from 1927, it's always a question, as that was the year electric recordings made their debut. Not all were electric.
@LyleFrancisDelp Yes, this is an electric recording. Victor went electric in 1925. This is also a rebuilt Orthophonic reproducer, from 1926. Most brands went electric by 1925-26. Some dime store labels were acoustic till 1929. Thanks for watching!
@ Oh! I’d always thought electric recording technology wasn’t introduced until 1927…same year it made talking movies possible.
One of his best... Thank you very much!
@@FredHallfan I agree! Thank you so much for watching!
I always enjoy listening to your records, I guess in a past life I lived in that era, and most importantly, I loved these songs :)
@grammophonetherapy I really appreciate the kind words. It takes a special person to enjoy the past, and especially its music. I enjoy the music and I enjoy sharing it too. So glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for watching.
Marvellous!!😁💖

I don't remember hearing this one, but White man's many, many times. Thanks for your efforts in uploading Charles and have a very good year to come!
@luismantaras6460 Oh yes, Whiteman's version is iconic. I like Bud Kennedys vocals on this one. Thanks so much for all your comments! Happy New Year!
Another great Tennessee Happy Boys song! Or is it another one by Jack Stillman? Nathan Glantz? Or Harry Reser?!
They never fail to entertain! Records indicate they are Reser lead, many sound like Glantz. I have all of their Edison recordings, they seem to range in style. Thanks for watching and happy new year!
@@charlescalvert8647 from what I`ve read, it was either Reser or Glantz band. If I`m not mistaken, they both are on all of the THB recordings. Great channel!! Happy New Year!!
@beck769 I read that source as well, although it somewhat contradicts another period source, so the mystery and fun continues, at least on Edison. Tennessee Happy Boys on Oriole are always Glantz, so far. So glad you enjoy the music and channel. Thank you!
Feeling like in Lackadaisy 😸 Or in Fallout 💀
@AlexDuChat Perhaps you're more of a shower kinda person? Hope you enjoyed the music, thanks for watching.
@@charlescalvert8647 Yeah but just because i can't have a bathtub :'''''3 i was talking about the comic "Lackadaisy" 😁 And yep i enjoyed the music, new subscriber aquired 😽
@AlexDuChat Oh, if you reference something modern I won't likely catch it, I don't get involved with modern TV, music, or current poplar things. A cell phone and TH-cam is about as far as I go, I live in other centuries, depending on what floor of the house I'm enjoying at the time. I usually upload every week or so, something interesting or historical, jazzy or amusing. If classical music interests you, my new channel "Classical Victrola" is available. Hopefully a new video coming New years eve!
This is a fantastic collection of gramophones! It's hard to even imagine how much effort was spent on the restoration and how much time it took. There are simply no words for delight! Fantastic!
@RadioSvit That's so very kind of you, I really appreciate your comment. Years of collecting and restoring. I'm out of room now, but still need more records. Always need more records. Thanks for watching!
. They said it right. Thank you Charles.
@@luismantaras6460 Thanks so much!
A peppy and really enjoyable little romp. Makes me wish it was longer!
@rosajacobsen8140 I agree, never long enough. Waring's has some great arrangements, this one is among my favorites. So glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching.
Sounds terrific. i love the acoustic space of your home. And as always, what a beautiful machine.
@StevenSmith-nq5xe Thanks so much. Its a fantastic arrangement by Waring's. 1924 was a great year! Thanks for watching!

Thank you, these Columbia portables are wonderful. Thanks for watching!
Great! A California Ramblers song I have not heard before. Really great start to the day! Many, many thanks,
@rosajacobsen8140 How wonderful! So glad I could share it and you enjoyed it so much. Anything from the California Ramblers is great, especially with Arthur Fields. Thanks for watching!
I wonder if there is a way to make a stereo or more channel hill & dale recording. This one sounds quite good. There's got to be a solution!
@jhonwask Late acoustic Edison recordings were pretty good, but they were all very inconsistent. Modern turntable equipment can help, along with digital manipulation but I can't stand that sound. I used to use a microphone at the horn and a high end camera, which captured brilliant sound. You have to understand that todays modern cell phone camera doesn't have the ability to pick up these acoustic sounds so well, and it continually gets worse as well. Thanks for watching!
Keep doing these
@@Livvidicus I certainly plan to! Thanks so much.
Excellent record!

@luismantaras6460 They were on every labels and popular for a reason. Still my first favorite! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
I almost passed this one by! But, here I see IRVING!!! My favorite vocalist of ALL time. Quite interesting to hear, but as I say, IRVING can sing opera if he wants to. If he sang the telephone directory, it would sound like the voice of an angel.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@FriedrichIDrunagel I posted both sides of this record, check out the "Dem Golden Slippers" . Irving is in full Kaufman glory! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful collection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@billfish7359 Thanks so much! Its a fun room.
OMG!!!!! I would give you a vital organ for this record! My main artist of my collection is IRVING!
@FriedrichIDrunagel No need for that! Its a somewhat common recording, either on Velvet Tone, Harmony or Diva. I have lots of great Irving Kaufman vocals. One of my top favorites. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
Just a great collection! Is there something you focus on? I love uprights too. Thank you for sharing. !
@StevenKasarda Well thank you so much! I'm mostly into acoustic era recordings, which includes Diamond Disc and cylinders as well as early electric recordings. So pretty much anything from 1900 to 1929, with a few exceptions of course. I have another large room that holds most of the 35,000+ record collection. Yet another room has the vinyl record collection and modern players. I love upright models, better sound from a standing position and you can cram more into a room. Lol Thanks for watching!
