Session Description/Objectives
Using an engaging allegory, discussion, and self-reflection, this ECIS Loft session will introduce participants to three important aspects of Universal Design for Learning: goals, choice, and variability.
Takeaways for Participants
Participants will gain guiding questions and strategies to support a UDL mindset throughout the collaborative learning design process
Suggested Interview Questions
How can we design learning goals that are inclusive and attainable for all learners?
Some learners feel overwhelmed by choices, and other learners tend to make decisions based on the amount of time and effort involved. How can we infuse meaningful choice into learning design?
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
Loui Lord Nelson, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized Universal Design for Learning (UDL) leader, best-selling author, and podcaster. A former special education teacher, she led UDL implementation at the district level, was awarded her post-doctorate by CAST, has influenced change at the national level in the U.S., and has helped shift mindsets across the globe. Loui has worked with educators across the U.S., Africa, Australia, Asia, Canada, and Europe and recently completed work with USAID, the U.S. Agency for International Development, and implementing partners to clarify their application of UDL across low- and middle-income settings.

Beth Stark is passionate about inclusive learning design and partners with international schools as a professional learning facilitator specialising in UDL implementation.She is dedicated to igniting inclusive inquiry for all learners and is the co-creator of LUDIA, the AI-Powered UDL thought partner, being used by educators in ninety-nine countries, and counting. Beth has sixteen years of IB international school experience and holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education and a Certificate of International School Leadership from the Principals’ Training Center. She lives in Germany, and serves as the Co-Chairperson of the UDL-IRN Implementation Special Interest Group, is an ISTE certified educator, and a CPACC certified member of the International Association of Accessibility Professionals.

    Wow, Al-Jawhara H. Al-Thani is just so good. I now very much want to work with her to improve what I do in a school each day. Orientation for new employees is a major point in an employee experience when we think about what their time will look like in their new country and school community.

    Here family members are appearing in various labels mother's,sisters,wives docters,daughters,crowns,but only as functioning of spies only for doubting each other not as any sort of comfort as an families .whether they all should be charge sheeted for not having be eligible females in life as an family,they aggravated my condition by being as families as spies rather than the needed family.
