The Real Marilyn Monroe - Biography - Behind the Glamour
Great documentary I loved it and I love Marilyn. I am crying like a baby so sad the life she lived feeling like no one wanted her or she was not good enough. She was an amazing and beautiful woman who overcome obstacles to become a great star. You cannot help but fall in love with her and her childhood innocence just makes you want to hold and take care of her and never let her go. She is legendary and will be here long after we are gone. There has never and will never be another like her ever.

Can’t imagine how corrupt Hollywood was in those days.. married at 16? She was probably sexually abused at a young age, possibly by the industry

The reality is people only care about her because of her beauty if she didn't look the way she looked majority of the people who say they love her wouldn't feel the same if she didn't look the way she does. from what I hear from these people who knew her is that she was aware of that. She wanted people to love her for who she was as a person not just for her beauty. Sad she never had parents who loved her. Hope she finds God and love and peace thou where ever she is right now

Sometimes Hollywood knows that it's most hated and resented what ends up it's most troublesome to it , is its biggest star and they are going to use that , women and men alike were jealous of Marilyn , most people offering her rescue wanted something for themselves or her to be something else. When Marilyn got older they were calling her persona dated and suggesting / threatening replacement's, studios where up against each other and rivalry for who had the biggest star of what image. Blonde/Redhead or brunette where being fought over and released at various times but there wasn't enough cash to play fair or for rival studios to be secure enough for them all to have a same type of girl that could rival each other in takings. There wasn't the money there is now, the wrong girl or a studio securing a similar but cheaper girl or someone swoping sides could end a studio so there was huge rivalry and suspicion. She was easier to "love" however once she was dead and in the end , I feel ill at writing this..." Worth more financially to more people dead" there were and are people admitting to loving her once she was gone. Sometimes those who today have come to admire her would be those very people who would actually take against her should they find themselves in her company. As for her finding love she then came with fame and was in what was Hollywood where many a marriage was more a convenience as Hollywood was asked to hide homosexuality due to reputation and the whole we sell to the opposite sex situation. I'm not singling anyone out here but it is how it was and so many people were willing to use her life and death as their opportunity. This is not reserved to just Marilyn's life. Truth is she had to die before people could feel comfortable loving her people were threatened by her. They would say terrible things about and to her and I know that there are people who love her image and what they perceive as her persona or what they imagine they know of her but the truth is if she were alive today and in their social circle they wouldn't want her in it, she acceptable to them dead but they haven't stopped to ask themselves how they would really cope with her amongst their husband or themselves as their sister or sister in law or as their competitor in the arts. I hate that she is easier to admire , love or relate to dead. That it is her death that has meant she is now likeable enough to be loved by generations. People learnt from her death but who profited from a knowledge of Marilyn and in what way was down to the individual. I'm not sure anythings changed and she wanted that. It was all of this that made Marilyn the loneliest girl in the world, people needed her to be ridiculed in some way, Marilyn with looks, intelligence humour and happiness , a bit of security too was far too much for people . If you should ever find yourself with it all , probably best not to show it, you might get to keep it ... and your husband.

@@VL1975 I mean you already lost before. I remember you; you were the teenager who couldn't provide a shred of evidence that Monroe was murdered, despite your claim that she was. In truth, you've already lost now. All the major biographers provide circumstantial evidence, plus there is photographic evidence. The clearest is her thumb in a splint after Joe smashed her hand with a suitcase lid while they were packing for their honeymoon. He didn't want her to perform for the troops; they fought. Boom. Also pictures of her arm bruised during this time, consistent with her arm being gripped violently. Plus the testimony of Milton Krasner, Gladys Whitten, Amy Greene, Whitey Snyder, others I can't remember. Joe was better the second time around, in 1961. He had grown up a bit. But in 1954, he was jealous and violent and an all-around petulant child. His anger was probably also fueled by the fact that this was more of a "publicity marriage" for Marilyn than a case of real passion and love, though she actually rather liked Joe. Not good enough, evidently. In any case, the "liking" stopped after the night at the St. Regis and she divorced him as soon as humanly possible. Sorry he is a disappointment to you.

Not really going to bother watching this, but I see Hugh Hefner is in the thumbnail. If the doc is called "The Real Marilyn Monroe", then why is Hefner being interviewed? He never knew her, never met her, used her images without permission for his dumb rag. If the doc is about MM's influence on sexuality in America, then fine, he can probably speak to that. But his presence all ALL of MM docs gives me a headache. They might as well interview me - I probably know more about her biography than he did, anyway.

Schiller negotiated with Hefner, and got $25K for the nude shot. Hefner bought the photo from Schiller. He never spoke to Marilyn. Via Schiller, she finally got the SOB to pay for her image right at the very end of her life, the last day, in fact. Schiller awoke to the news that she was dead, and discovered MM had sent him some of her approved shots on the afternoon or even early evening of her death. "Playboy may like these", is what a note accompanying them said. I think she no longer cared, anyway: she had made her fatal plans.
