I watched this like 5 times I can't stop laughing
Thanks legend
Hey mate, could you report on how the setup has lasted up until now? How you had any issues with it?
G'day! I've just bought the same kickass set up and have the same MR Triton. I can not figure out exactly where the battery cracked sits as there's no factory holes that line up like you've said. Arw you able to supply some more detail around exactly how and where you bolted the tray in. Appreciate the feedback.
G'day mate. Please keep going, would like to see more. Struggling to find much content on the triton. (That's if we haven't moved onto the dream car yet) Also what did you do with your passenger floor mats and the fire extinguisher bracket?? Cheers
Very very good video 👍. Very informative, you showed how easy it was to install and as I'm not so the handy type, you showed myself how easy it was. Thank you very much, fantastic video 😊
Make sure orientation of piggy back fuses is correct, otherwise the output will not be fused but have direct power.
How's the sound in person mate? Is it noticeable? Would you do it again?
Looks like a great kit, just bought an Mr Triton so this was very helpful thanks mate
Hey mate. Wonder if you could help me out. I'm trying to fit seat covers to the rear seat. I have the back rest part on now I need to put the seat area on. I can work out how to take out the seat. I've undone the two bolts but it seems impossible to remove the rest. What is holding it in? Are there clips I need to undo??
6.47mins wiring the blue cable that controls when it is allowed to charge. (engine on)
Love the folding back board. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful world isn't it? I love living in Australia! It is so beautiful.
Hi mate, thanks for posting this vid. Am about to undertake this same task on my Triton. Have been using my Thumper Redback battery pack for a few years but decided to go to a more integrated set up. The kickass behind seat 170AH still looks the go, trying to stay clear of lithium for now. How did you find the performance of this system in the long term?
Very good mate!!
So just wondering, would this charge better if sola is hooked up or would sola charge better on its own with an MPPT regulator box to the battery? As i got an Regulator to the battery then a MPPT regulator and sola keeping my batter charged when I'm stationed.
Living the dream.👍
Where exactly did you connect the ignition wire as I’m struggling to find an ignition source on my 2021 triton
I'm enjoying your videos. Some good ideas and advice. I don't know what happened to your sound in this one but I had difficulty hearing you in parts. Keep up the good work!😎
Great video 👌🏼👍👍
Just bought myself a brand new 2023 Triton GSR and was wondering where I could fit a fire extinguisher. Now I know! Can't wait to get back out camping again with something reliable.
Its a good job. Looking fwd to more. Got a 2020 gsx+ and considering what mods to make. Wish i had got a tray in hindsight. Not happy with Mitsi 10yr warranty as it already has paint peel on the roof and mitsubishi wont cover it. Claimjng its from bird poop... not even 3years old. (Got a 2000 pulsar in the drive bird shiz all over it and the paint buffs like new)
Awesome video mate, please please keep them coming! 🤙
Thanks mate! Definitely going to be more videos soon! 🙌🏻
What did ya do with the middle seat belt bracket?
Hey mate, I had to remove the middle seat belt for the 175aH battery to fit unfortunately, but I do know the 120aH will fit without removing it! I used bracket that held the seat belt to bolt the battery tray to so I didn’t need to drill any more holes than necessary though. Hope that helps! 🤙🏻
Finally a good video
Hey Mate, have just bought the exact same kit, but unable to close the rear seat with the battery installed in the battery tray. I have a Triton MQ 2018
Hey mate! I had to extend the seat latch just a tad with some longer bolts and a coupling! Feel free to reach out on Instagram and I’ll send you a photo of what I mean! Otherwise I’ll make a short video soon explaining it all 🤙🏻
👍
No you're just cringe
I polish aluminum it's dirty af

Thanks so much for the kind words! Let me know if there’s anything you’d like covered in more detail!
where do u plug the fridge and other accessories
Hey mate! I sit the fridge on the back seat and have an Anderson plug to connect it! Also run the solar connection running to the tub with a waterproof cover on the end for when I’m not running the solar panel 🤙🏻 I’m contemplating ripping the backseats out completely and having a control box mounted to the back wall for all my devices!
Hahaha

@@forevertheweekend HUAH!
Great video mate, thank you! I've also got a Triton, and am about to start a very similar dual battery setup to yours. Have you had any issues with the ignition wire and fuse tap? I checked all the fuses for power, including the heated seat one, and found they have power still after the key is taken out of the ignition. I'm wondering if the DC-DC is reverting back to old school, and only allowing charge of the second battery based off the voltage from the starter battery, not the signal from the ignition wire. How is it all 1 year on? Anything you'd change if you did it again? Thank you!!
Absolutely ripper question mate!! I’m loving it still after 1 year on! There’s definitely a few things I’d do differently for sure, but that kinda comes with any mod you do to your car I feel 😂 If you’d like me to make a video (if that would be useful?) on how it’s all going 1 year on, let me know and I’ll see what I can do! 🤙🏻🤙🏻
@@forevertheweekend Spot on mate! They become constantly changing/altering/updating pieces of equipment. Always fine tuning. A 1 year on video would be awesome mate, and really appreciated by all the people that have already watched this one!
@@tylerohare3663 Well I better get cracking then! 🙌🏻 Thanks so much for your support, very very appreciative of everyone that has supported me and taken the time to leave a comment or feedback! Helps me out a lot in becoming a better creator!
Unreal video mate cheers
Thanks mate really appreciate it! 🙌🏻
Hi mate, you mentioned that your triton has no smart alternator. What year model is your triton? Reason for asking is I have a 2022 Triton and was thinking of using a vsr first. Will this work? Awesome video btw. I will use this when I set up a dcdc charger in the future. Cheers!
Hey Jeff, thanks for the kind words mate! A VSR will work as long as your start battery and aux battery are pretty close together, anything more than a meter or two of cable and the voltage will drop too much for the aux to have a decent charge. So if you’re doing an under bonnet install then a car would be perfect for it! But if you’re planning on a backseat install then I’d personally opt for a DCDC charger. That way you kinda ‘future proof’ it by allowing solar input and also with the kickass charger, and upgrade to lithium down the track!
How awesome does your car look!! Sounds like you guys have worked hard on doing additions. Very good watch :)
Thanks for your support! Definitely so many more additions I’d like to make! I don’t think the mod list will ever end 😂
hey mate, nice vid. I'm looking at putting one of these setups in my Dmax space cab. have you had any issues with heat and stuff mounting the battery in the cab? cheers
Hey mate, thanks heaps!! I haven’t noticed any heat at all coming from the battery, I was definitely worried about this to begin with, but even over the peak of summer and while charging on solar, I didn’t notice the battery even get warm which is a good sign in my opinion!
@@forevertheweekend awesome thanks mate
You will get dcdc runaway with the ignition on and engine off if you connected the blue wire.
this has me changing my mind on what system i am going to install in the bed of my Tundra I like and prefer the slim design. I am currently installing a dual battery in the engine bay and want to run a wire from that aux battery to the back to this slimline which will save space
Glad to hear! The slimline design was a huge selling point for me as I don’t have much space to put an aux battery in the engine bay, so behind the seat was a perfect spot and out of the way!
Hi Tom, its great video, just wanna ask, if you install dc-dc charger, do you need to instal battery isolator? Cheers mate
Thanks mate! There wasn’t a need to install an isolator as the charger has this function built in, that it’s not going to draw anything unless there is sufficient charge current going to the main battery. I suppose an isolator could be handy if you ever did want to just disconnect the aux battery from the system for whatever reason while the car was running?
Dc to dc charger destroyed my 2500$ battery (brand new 300ah lithium) and are unwilling to rectify the situation. They say it's not covered by there warranty. Buyer beware, stick to the well known brands that give a rats about there customers
So sorry to hear mate! That’s terrible! Were they able to pinpoint what went wrong at all?
Was the charger designed for a lithium battery?
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩👏👏
Was a ripper weekend!
If placing a slim line battery behind the what about heat and ventilation, don’t you risk overheating the battery?
Great question! As the slimline battery is a fully sealed agm battery, there is not need for ventilation and the battery does not heat up provided you’re not using excessive charge current (the kickass battery charger will make sure of this). Also, depending on your vehicle, the cab will have vents behind the rear seat as an added bonus! Though it’s not required for this kind of battery, ventilation certainly wouldn’t hurt by any means! Hope this helps mate!

When your installed the battery tray does it cover the anchor points In the car for Childs car seats? Thanks
