Fukin unreal mate

It's one of the best movies ever made. It never got the recognition it deserves. It tickles every emotion center. Candy playing a man, and a woman so convincingly displays his brilliance at its peak. Every bizarre aspect you can think of has been meticulously sown throughout the film. The cast, all superior comics and actors. It was a little too good and a little too ahead of its time, with many not prepared for such perfect emotional manipulation and visual stimulation.

This movie always creeped me the hell out as a kid. Still don’t like it as a late 40’s adult.

Yeah. This movie is at the borderline between comedy and horror. But man, it is original. Weird, chaotic with truly unique characters. When I saw this movie as a kid, I was desperate to get out of that place, just like Chevy Chase and Demi Moore. The truth is that the movie is very underrated: the plot is not predictable, there are great gadgets and we have John Candy with a dual role. What else do you want?

I lived in a town where the multi-billionaire who owned our property, was a retired Fed. He would call the police and 100 cars would come to the scene in 10 minutes. I saw it twice. The second time reminded me of the ending of this movie where all the cops know the old man. All cars surrounding his house.

Someone once said something that takes the horror element that much higher. The hot dog sausages were made of….if you saw the movie you can kind of figure it out from what (or rather who) and makes a lot of horrific sense.

As far as I'm concerned, this film should be restored to its original length ( if the cut footage still exists ), given a thorough re-edit to restore the original intent, and retitled VALKENVANIA , then released both as a BluRay director's cut, and released to streaming services. The world is just weird enough to enjoy the film now.
