I am a musician in Atlanta. Michael Brecker is one of my favorite musicians of all time, am reading his biography, “Ode To A Tenor Titan”, for the second time, and am realizing Seventh Avenue South was a very important hub for that whole scene. As someone born later in the 80’s who is always back researching these musicians, I didn’t understand there was a central locus where they all hung out. Kate is in the book! I was looking for stuff on TH-cam tonight about the club, like a documentary, but there is nothing except performances, not many pictures, no stories. This video is awesome - it should have more views.

Hey Michael. Glad you stumbled onto this episode with Kate. I was just texting with her about another new book that came she called “Talkin’ Greenwich Village by David Browne.” Might be a good addition to your back in the day research archives of Jazz scene in NYC. Thanks for watching.

This just happened again today for the 900th time. That’s why I googled “why do people say everything happens for a reason”, that’s how I found your podcast. I despise that people say this. It doesn’t help or fix problems in any way. I am/we are going through a corporate buy out and all of our stores are closing. I am the merchandising manager for the company and am now on the front lines in a busy store every day because I haven’t found a new job yet (never mind the 100 jobs I’ve applied for and am more than qualified for). Every single customer wants to talk about “why is the store closing”, I told a lady today that I cannot possibly retell the sad story again, but it’s a really terrible situation. Please google it. She said the thing! This fires me up so much. Really lady!? What IS the REASON for 250 people losing their jobs with a successful company that was taken over for greed. What IS the REASON I’ve applied for 100 jobs but am still here listening to annoying insensitive people like you all day every day? Please just buy your discounted items and leave. Thanks, I needed to rant. Because so many people have spewed this nonsense on me in the past 2 months, I’ve picked it apart like you have. There is NO reason for most of the horrible things that happen, like families trapped in warring countries, my mom suddenly dying in February leaving my dad completely alone, my good friend who was just fired from her job, my husband’s mom lingering on with dementia and cancer, and the list goes on to eternity through all of the ages. There is no reason, bad things happen and we’ve got to process and move on. That’s all 😊

20 years ago now, I found "Triggers", an amazing album. I then found the rest of her 90's output, and enjoyed her ever since. A through line from Serge G, F Hardy, Stereolab, Cardigans, Ivy, etc. French accented pop. Listen to anything she does, it is great. Allons-y!

Good interview, but I have to ask- do you have a producer? Someone needs to suggest, maybe that’s me, that there’s a bit too much of a distraction. That being- Interrupting to finish someone else’s sentence. I suppose it’s something that people can accept, to a greater or lesser degree, in daily conversations. Not a good thing in an interview. I don’t mean to be harsh, it’s a suggestion. Otherwise, 🎉😊!

It would be nice to know exactly what Chrissy Thomas’s views actually are. I am fourth generation in Montclair and the number one issue facing seniors especially one’s that own a home is high property taxes. Ours at 20,000 that’s not too mention inflation affecting purchasing power which will continue to rise. Let’s hope Mrs. Thomas has a clue as to the suffering of not only seniors but young people as well. James and Dale Stivaly

Her main position seems to be transparency, credibility, and accountability for the council based on what we've read, seen, and spoken with her about. We haven't heard much about topics related to seniors or taxes from her but we may have missed it somewhere. Here's her website link if you want to look into it more chrissyformontclair.com/

I love how people that come to Montclair and think they know what's better for a town that was #1 in the country for a family of interracial relations. My family has been in Montclair for over 100 years and never felt any racial divide until now. This woman is talking about luxury cars. THAT is not Montclair. Worried about nonsense.
