@@Left_divideshorts Titanic was 270m long and 28m wide, Jahre Viking was 458m long and 68m wide, for ship size that is very big difference not to mention that JV is much heavier than Titanic
Nightmare of a ship to sail and work on! Built in 1970 and scrapped in 1983. Always troublesome and Esso happy to get rid of it, along with Esso Northumbria!
My Father had a photograph of the Northumbria & another supertanker under the desk glass in his office on the Oriental Ambassador.- a large container vessel off which he was Captain. In earlier years, he had been a tanker Master & would have been qualified to Master one of these behemoths. At neatly 40,000 tons, the Ambassador was large enough.when I was in my teens he was Captain of a rather ageing tanker called The Hamilton Sleigh - which was a )!three island ‘ design, still having accommodation amidships.
@@fury9973 Yes... I worked for three months on the TI Europe. These ships had a rather large and very well equipped gym, and a pretty nice swimming pool.
8:22 I'm glad to see you included the word "thou" in your video. I hardly ever get to see that word. I used to tell my cat, "Tou shalt not drink from my cup!"

Taking a break while working on the forward side of the ship will take you a while to get to the galley. Extensive length. You will consume your coffee break just by walking.. Lol. A seaman will always be a seaman even if he's retired..in heart and mind..
I have seamans papers.... As a sailor, its hard to see any ship sunk... Or cut up. I feel a sence of loss. One becomes attached to ship when you sail on one...
That was excellent. Some rare photos I haven’t seen before. It’s a pitty there’s not much information at all on now they managed to reflows such a huge ship when it sank, I assume it was air bags. Such a pitty we will never see this again.. it’s the Concorde of the sea!

9:12 When that anchor was in service, the highest chain link had more weight pulling down on it than any other link in the chain.

3:33 It says, "CAT" on the starboard side of the ship. They should have a diesel power company named "HUMAN."

They should rebuild the ships and turn them into museums!

I still don't understand how something this big and heavy can float it just amazes me
at 5:22 that is a fake, compare the panamas lead and the anchor chain..
I dont think its fake, but maybe it should be just a little dot bigger
Without doubt the oddest looking crude carrier as though they were in such a rush they forgot to put the flying bridge wings on
