not for latops?
How in the world can you possibly compare a Suunto to a Brunton that has a bubble in it?! Additionally, you are comparing Suunto's cheapest compass to Brunton's most expensive.
It takes 21700 not 18650
I will have to double check. Thanks
It's so confusing as it appears your pointing and comments align like a cheap pair of chinese bins. I'm left more confused as to which are best at what
Thanks for the input
Will the 701 work well with Dali Oberon 5?
Yes
@@MediaPipeDream thanks )
These are awesome. I’ve had mine a month now and I’m in love with them
Absolutely agree!
I just received the new version and it's super stiff and uncomfortable. I'll likely return it
Word
Vice grips & Gorilla tape would be a good additions for a kit
Yes, I do keep a small amount of duct tape and clear packing tape
the zeiss victory sfl 8x40 are a good compact bino's
Indeed they are
seems like a great amp but u said 201 its 210 on the damping factor just letting u kno im thinking of getting one
Thank you for the correction!
I shoot highschool sports in terrible light so I went for the R6
Very nice
I'm thinking of buying my first high end automatic time piece. I don't know whether to start in the $2000 or $4000 range, though?
$4k, no brainer
You make so much sense with your current and future modifications. Good thinking. Thank you for this video. 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Yes, glad it helped
Wholeheartedly agree and endorse the high praise you give these lovely little bins. I’m a spectacles wearer and these work so well with all my different glasses. I agree they’re so stylish and ergonomic. I love that they’re do much lighter and slimmer than, fur example, the Leica UVHD+ which I also tried. The Leicas simply didn’t work for my glasses. However much I fiddled there was always a load of dark curved shadows and I couldn’t get the images from the two barrels to merge into one circle. By comparison the Leicas are heavy, clumsy and rather old fashioned and £500 more expensive! No, I’m so happy to have chosen the Companion CLc and I fell in love with them straight away
My experience as well
I just bought on of these to work out of in my vineyard. I have a 30 litre that's a bit too technical & a bit to big some days. Glad to see it's a durable bag & that you can push the capacity a bit.
Very nice
I went to eBay and found a seller in Japan that sold new versions of this several years later because I didn’t wanna get the android version. I like the fact that this version doesn’t require all your Google information just to run the system.
I am also getting one from ebay. Quick question, do these older models experience some battery decay not being used so long?
Exactly, totally disconnected from the Net
I have a pair of the 10x25 CL Companions and am also thinking about these in 10x. They are fantastic binos.
Single hinge is the way to go!
Sony STR-GX70ES from 1990 (Made In Japan) was a far superior unit (better quality transistors & epu boards) than the current DH 190 in terms of sound quality and build. If you can find one in mint condition , GET IT !!!
Thanks for the input
I liked the audio comparison. I have a zeiss terra ed 8x42 and they have also very narrow depth of field. So I have to constantly hunt for focus.
I picked up some 10x42 Zeiss Terra EDs on sale for just a better pair of Binos and sent them RIGHT back. After using some Swaro companions in even the little compact 10x25 version, you will never be able to deal with the sub-top-of-the-line optic again. They spoiled me!!
Agreed, focus hunting is annoying
Hi, do you use stock firmware? Have you tried the MrWalkman firmware?
I just run the stock firmware and have been happy with that. May try out Mr. Walkman's in the future.
Is the internal frame removable?
Yes
i had a cammenga fail that way. ive got a mc2 global, thats been pretty good for the last 5 years. i want to try the brunton tru arc 20
Some design changes on the new ones to be aware of
I plugged cambridge 753 bluray with 6 wolfson dacs into my as301. I preferred the sound quality from the as301s dac.
Good to know! It is definitely top tier
Seriously detailed gear review video. I just ordered this bag and this was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks man!
No problem, glad it helped!
Yes Yamaha ❤
Yes sir!
Good desktop review and thanks for having both together for comparison. I have been using the Suunto compasses (MC2G and M3G) and very happy with them apart from the 2 degree resolution. I also have the Cammenga lensatic but that also has low res at 3 degrees. I was looking at the Truarc 10 which has 1 degree res but the fact that the baseplate has only one straight side it is not ideal given it is a map baseplate compass. Have you had any restrictions due to the one only straight side. Cheers from Australia.
No restrictions or limitations in use.
I like an excellent knife. If I’m likely going to need to split a good amount of kindling, a small froe doesn’t take any more space than that knife. Fashion a handle for your froe with your excellent knife. The splitting froe has the right taper and temper for its purpose as does your excellent ,scalpel like, knife. The froe blade ,including the tapered eye, can be the length of your whole excellent knife. The fact is, if you build a knife robust enough to take the abuse of a splitting tool and pry bar, your still going to need an “excellent” scalpel like knife. I’ve been looking for that knife for months. I hold Victorinox in the highest regard. They are true masters at the craft. The grind on their meat processing knives is perfect for the task. What they accomplish in that factory is almost unimaginable. Congratulations on getting your hands on one.👍 and thanks.
yes, thanks for the kind words!
I have the previous version of these and they are optically superb. However I noticed that the focusing wheel is wobbly and imprecise which is inexcusable on these high priced binos. You won't have this problem in Japanese binos.
With these new CL bs have no focus knob slop or wobblyness. In fact, I would say the focusing is superior and smoother than my Monarch HG 8x24s, but not as good as my full size Zeiss Victory SF 8x42s
Problem solved on the new version. Precise, smooth, no wobble.
Nice comparison, overall from far and the less knowledgeable, one is dress piece the other is tool looking.
Thanks
Wery bad loudness nothing worth
Thanks for the input
Thanks for the sharing. Would it be hard to pick things from bottom of skarab? coz it's deep and the opening is not large enough
possibly, but I have not had an issue with that
Maybe I am late, but i saw 1 month old comments, so im gonna try to ask :) I have a pair of Jamo 100W rms/150W max standing speakers. I know they are not the best, but these where my first speakers as a kid 20 years ago :) I am using a sharp amp that has 2x40W power (and is at least as old as my speakers). My problem is the connectivity, but also, when i turn on 50% power and try some rock music it feels like the speaker is vibrating/distorting. I was wondering if i buy an AS-301 could it drive the speaker better? Or do I need the AS-501? Or maybe my loudspeakers are old, and they never will sound good? Electronic music with big bass sounds okay, but guitar and drum kills it. My primary use case wound be to hook it up to the TV, and see movies. Sometimes listen to music. It is not a necessity, but i thought if I have a pair of big speakers why not use them?
I think you have to figure out if you drivers are bottoming out due to high volume or if the amp is running out of juice. Possible that the drivers could be blown as well. the as-301 will drive your speakers no problem and that will not be the source of distortion.
@@MediaPipeDream Thank you for the reply, I bought a Denon PMA-900HNE in the end, it made the speakers sound better, with electronic music it was powerful. I felt it was lacking in dynamic sound, i also changed my speakers to Polk xt60-s. I know it is not high end, but now my setup sounds decent compared to what i had. The Denon also has heos, and bluetooth, though the latter is dissapointing, it is just sbc. The reason why I choose this is: 1. This was available in a showroom where i could listen to 2. It has multiple options for playing music, it is more future proof i would say, and more convenient, but it was also pricier, almost double the price (in my country)
WORTHLESS video! Who cares about Nichicon capacitors??
I🙋♂
I do! Nevertheless, thanks for watching!
I have the AS-301 and it's surprisingly good. Sounds like a lot more than 30 watts/channel.
Agree!
I thought the as-301 60 watt per channel ?
In my country it's 271€ (Sony) vs. 345€ (Yamaha). I'd go for Yamaha because of the loudness, as I have to listen at low levels.
Along with the excellent Quality!
Thank you - this was helpful for sized comparison of the two!
No Problem!
Thanks. I thought I was buying Toyo from amazon, but got Trusco. I was going to return them but seems like they’re the same thing. BTW. Blackwing 602 pencils don’t fit in these boxes :(
Hi there. As I have it, those "ramps" in the handle are for gripping the knife "chef-style" for slicing. The thumb and forefinger nestle in there as one grips the blade. Very clever. The hex lanyard hole - This is actually rather important, especially in a survival kind of application. The ability to drill holes adds a whole dimension to camping/survival. The choice of 1/4inch is important as one can get bits in multiple sizes as well as the one that comes with the Venture system kit (20mm), which it seems you did not order. A spade bit is much lighter and less bulky than those awful Scotch augers one often sees. It's interesting to hear you think of the Falkniven as a survival knife. In my opinion a survival knife needs to be much bigger (Becker BK9, Fallkniven Modern Bowie or CS Trail Master). Your characterisation of where the Venture fits in tallies with mine (and that of Felix Immler, Mr Victorinox!). Nice review! Cheers mate.
Awesome! Thanks for filling us in on the additional uses and features of the Victorinox. I think the Fallkniven was actually designed as a Swedish military pilot survival knife... that is why think of it that way.
@@MediaPipeDream Something like the ESEE 5?
i dont think Sony could just add digital inputs, banana plug binding posts and a sub out and keep it the same price. The main point of difference is the integrated DAC of the Yamaha. The RS- 202 by Yamaha would be a better comparison for price and features.
Totally agree
Have you tried WM1Z compared to this WM1A?
Nope
@@MediaPipeDream thanks bud
Why does he keep saying SLC`s ? Stupid and annoying for people researching bino`s...
You should probably watch the video from start to finish, before calling it stupid. You are confused. In the video, I am referring to the now discontinued Swaro SLC 8x42 (not the companion CL B in 8x30). I am using that as a reference point in comparing the other binoculars. At the start of the video there are a list a binoculars that I discuss, you obviously skipped that part.
Believe it or not the Tuner in the Sony STR 190 isn't bad at all. I've heard many negative reviews on it but maybe i live in a more receptive area, i'm pulling in plenty of stations crisp and clear. With that being said, i'm using the Tuner section as a stand alone component hooked up to the Yamaha A S301 so i'm getting the best of both worlds. I would have kept the Sony STR 190 as my main unit but running my 4 OHM Wharfedales made me uneasy so i upgraded to the A S301 which can handle the 4 OHM load. But you can't go wrong with either units for the price.
Good to know the tuner is good. Thanks!
@@MediaPipeDream You're welcome.
I agree it’s good and pulls channels great. But recently I hooked up an older 80s luxman tuner to my dh190 and holy crap it’s soooo good. Those digital tuners just can’t compete with a real deal analogue tuner. The sound it literally night and day.
My Sony pushes 4olm speakers better than my yami. They’re very close but the Sony is warmer fuller more open sounding the yami is louder but definitely harsher.
Had a first version talon 44, bought Jan 2010. I did my mountain Guiding courses with it. Travelled hundreds of times with it. Skiing, alpinism, trekking, bushcrafting, dessert, roughness....really heavy duty stuff. And now, only now is starting to tear a bit. Itsthe best, lightest most comfortable baflg i ever had. Even better than my Millet Epic. Wpic is bit more padding but heavier and bunquier. The first/modified first version of talon was something unique. As i said I'm a mountain guide, and have been carrying backpacks outdoors since 1991... I don't know why they just fuck up with good perfect features. What's the purpose???? We're not fashion killers. We don't care about feature modernity shit . And still the osprey is the best in the market.
agreed! Glad to hear confirmation from an experienced individual!
Informative review, thanks!
No problem!
I agree that a sub out on the Sony would be an awesome addition, but at $148 you can't complain. I use it in a 2.1 setup and as you stated, having the ability to turn toggle the subwoofer on/off with the remote is super convenient. I also find the option to adjust the bass/treble via the remote puts it over the top.
agreed
Great stuff!
Glad you think so!
How sad an adult is so obsessed with trivia, your perspective is on what is important in life is badly distorted.
tell me you cant afford a Rolex without telling me you cant afford a Rolex 😂
HAHA, thanks!
Thank you for the kind words! Your feedback has prompted me to give up all my worldly possessions and become a monk to focus on what is important life! Up until this point these two RoLeX timepieces is what my world revolved around. This is just what I needed to reevaluate my life which was ownership of these TWO!! ROLEXESES. Now I only have 1. I smashed the other. I will join the Dalai LAMA with his ROLEXeseses (he has a few) on the path to enlightenment. Jokes aside..... Bro.... It is a youtube video meant to go over detail and comparisons of 2 very similar watches. I agree the differences are minute. Considering by the performance of the video it seems that watch enthusiasts enjoy the level of detail I discuss. So people may want to see differences side by side. It is just a hobby. Now G-shocks and Casios that is what is really important in life.
Hey, I have a question. I am about to buy B&W 603 s2 speakers from 2020, but I don't have an amp yet. my room is 60 m^2 5x12m. which one should I go with between the as301 501 701 and 801?
501 701 or 801, 301 will still do just fine.
801
Good informative review. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
I'm with nikon 200-500mm f5.6 and nikon d750. I'm about to get monarch m7 10x42. The question is can i spot any difference between monarch HG vs m7 and swarovski nl 8x32 (for example)?
yes. There is going to be a big difference between the M7/HG to the NL. The M7 to the HG, difference is very small. If there is a big price difference between the 2 I would go with the M7. If you can get an NL, get that and be done and never look back.
@@MediaPipeDream Thank you:)!
