this one (hardly) survived a war. It's hard to believe this house is not built before 1999 (and probably even years later, as this is in sector C and I guess they started building sector A first. I like Camposol (or better said, I like the way of living, the community), but I must say it worries me that so many of these houses show cracks and seem much older than 25 years. And when I see 'gems' like this one, it really puts doubts in my mind. Marie, I don't want to sound negative, and it's not my intention to put Camposol in a bad light, but if you're buying a house you want it to still be there in 40 years time I would say. Is there an explanation many Camposol houses have deteriorated so much? And more importantly, have they made efforts to prevent them from deteriorating further?

@ivo4357 Some Properties can fill into a state of neglect. This can be due to the owner being elderly or perhaps the properties have not been lived in for sometime. These properties are been purchased and the new owners are spending a lot of money to reform them, Camposol is regenerating itself of a lot of money being invested and I believe that over the next few years you will see a difference.

Thst place is like little Britain
I think if you just stay by the bars on A or B sector all day you could well believe that. Not my thing at all. The population here as Marie says is predominantly British and it is true that you will meet more Brits than any other nationality on the urbanisation. You would see the same on many urbanisations in Spain in the bars, especially coastal minus the roaming tourists packing the place out in Summer. Which brings me to another point, Camposol facilities do not shut down for winter unlike some of the more touristy places. As Marie says, there are a lot of different nationalities living here. Where our villa is, on one side our two nearest neighbours are from Belgium. The other side is from the south of England and next to them are German. Across the road is one Brit, one French, one Dutch and you frequently encounter Spanish people walking the dog or hear them walking past the villa on their phone or talking among themselves here and there. Small Spanish kids have rung our bell asking for agua while out and about playing on their bikes in the hot summer. Even the local Jehovas Witnesses (really nice laid back people and not pushy God squad types) are from the Caribbean and I am married to a Jamaican lady who is also mad on learning Spanish and immersing herself in the wider Spanish culture whilst living on this urbanisation. So there is more of a cosmopolitan feel to be found depending on your lifestyle if that is your thing and you don't sit in the urbanisation's bars all day like many retired Brits do all over eastern Spain. This definitely isn't "real Spain" though as is the case on pretty much any other large urbanisation. But proper, working, not too touristy real Spain is directly outside the urbanisation. That is simply wonderful and exactly what we were looking for. But it does require rudimentary Spanish language skills in most cases which takes time to acquire. Living on an urbanisation where your first language is spoken really does help break you in to Spain if you are not confident with the local language on day 1. Some people get lazy and continue in English, others attend classes and benefit from the little bit of respect which comes from making an effort when away from the urbanisation in real Spain. And no, I am not talking the place up because I am selling. 😁👍
I am talking the place up as too many youtubers like myself ,although this is my job to many use camposol to get views because of what happened 20yrs ago.while they keep this negitive words going it keeps our house prices down and none live here mind, i think if you live here you know about Camposol you have an opinion otherwise ,in the nicest possible way *^#+÷/

@@CostaCalidaExpats I wouldn't accuse you of talking the place up Marie. I think you showed things pretty much as they are on B sector's commercial area and I don't see that as overly positive or negative, just accurate. My final comment on me not talking things up goes back to the usual accusation laid by others that know nothing about this area - that "a person only says good things about Camposol when they are trying to sell". Clearly not the case. I think I told you that when we drove through the sectors at car speed our impression was not good. We viewed a couple of properties which had not been kept in good condition the first afternoon which didn't help. At thst point we were considering binning our viewings and heading to Almeria the next day. That evening we took a walk around where we had rented a villa for the viewing trip and were surprised to see the majority of villas kept to a very high standard and the place had a good, peaceful feel about it at walking pace. So we continued with the viewings and you know the outcome of that. Keep doing what you are doing Marie. When people ask me about Camposol my answer is pretty much as my comments here but caveats with "You need to come and spend some time here". What appeals to us wouldn't necessarily be good for others. All I would suggest to people is to keep an open mind and understand that like any place of 4,600 homes anywhere else in Spain or even Britain, you will find things you like and things you don't. Perfection doesn't seem to be available anywhere but for us, our specific situation in Camposol and the opportunity close to the urb makes us increasingly happy with our decision. Our family and friends visiting seem to feel the same, not wanting to leave at the end of their stay and returning quickly after.

Over the last year or so, Mazarron Council have picked up responsibility for maintaining the public roads, lighting etc. But this really is just the big ones - the smaller roads on the polygons are private and the responsibility of the homeowners. The Camposol Business Association (who provide update videos on youtube) and local resident groups (who have websites ad/or are on Facebook) are active with the council too and provide updates on their dealings. For over a decade Camposol was ignored after the issues with the builder abandoning site following the global financial crash but the council now seem to be beginning to engage picking up a few responsibilities and fixing other issues with licensing etc. Personally, I am not holding my breath as this is Spain but it is nice to see the roundabouts and palm trees being maintained by the council. This lets the local gardening groups focus on the good work they do making other areas look nicer with the donations they receive. A long way to go but it is a start. Perhaps the new builds may trigger a little more action on the look and feel over coming years but again, don't hold your breath. So many Spanish urbanisations I have been to look quite scruffy too and this is a big one for the council to take on and fund unless.perhaps they can mandate something on the developer of new builds or some other wheeze.
@@kevtheargonut thanks a lot for your answer, appreciate it. But I don't really mean the garden areas or things like that, I feel the community is doing a great job at making them look more inviting. In fact the reason I'm interested in Camposol is because people who live there care so much about their neighborhood. I was talking about the shops area itself, the area filmed in this video. It doesn't look nice to me (it looks 'cheap', just my opinion of course), and when you're outside having a drink or lunch, it would be nice if you weren't looking at these plain house 'blocks', all painted in that beige color. I'm not talking about breaking it down and starting all over. Even a nice paint job and a less 'industrial look' could liven things up. Create more of a shopping mall feeling as it were.
@@ivo4357 I would agree with that, having the mix of commercial outlets in among the bars in the U shaped area isn't ideal for ranging views of the wildebeest roaming the local mountains. 😁 Having a beer after my wife's Spanish class in the afternoon sun is still quite nice there though and people are friendly. But I prefer a beer next to my pool personally - and both of us can have one rather than one driving back. The views are much better, they play our type of music at home and it is dirt cheap too. 😁 Going up to A sector's can be seen in Marie's previous video shows a more open outlook from the bars with nice ranging views (still no wildebeest though) and the golf club terrace on C sector is a very nice place to be in the warm weather or a nice evening out with entertainment on the terrace frequently on offer. We don't go out a lot on the urbanisation, our eating out is mainly when we are away from the area. The port is really nice, Aguilas (a longer 40 minute car ride south) was also nice and the little beach bar at Bolnuevo does an amazing iced coffee. Percheles beach (and another 10 or so between it and Bolnuevo) is much less urban but has a little place for snacks and drinks. All with amazing views, and that is just a few examples. Then add the mountains, opportunity for walks and lots of natural beauty and history, the local towns and amazing fresh, cheap food markets etc and the surrounding area has so much to offer beyond just hanging out on B sector all the time. But it is very convenient to have it there. 👍

all these clubs you can join, do they converse in English or Spanish? Of course, if I move to Spain, I'd learn the language, but it would be easy if you can get by speaking English (I'm Belgian, but my English is decent enough), at least until you adapted moving to another country. After all, it's not like you're just moving to an other city, moving abroad is a big step.

there's one word that keeps coming up, and it's lovely: COMMUNITY. In most places in the world, it seems the sense of community is gone, neighbors don't know and don't care about each other. I'd rather have maintenance of a neigborhood that is community driven than by official instances. People are much more passionate to keep their neighborhood nice and safe than 'hired' people who do a half decent job and can't wait to stop working and go home. Thank you for being a 'defender' of this 'lifestyle'. If my health allows it, I'll most likely join your 'community' in about 5 years, when I retire. Keep up the excellent work!
Well done Marie. We are heading to Camposol for two weeks in May to look at houses and are hoping to move there with in the year. Community is everything and Camposol has it by the bucket load.

Shhh Marie. I live here and my brother is buying a house shortly after spending time here. Wait a while before telling everyone else how nice it is or the house prices will go up even more than they have over the last year that they have been flying off the market.

When was this last decorated....the 1980s !? The black and white on the outside put me off straight away. The underbuild is a death trap ! The only nice thing is the roof terrace.
