Genius in both the composer and conductor.
I miss the sound of the needle dropping to the vinil.
Once available on an LP in the UK, on the Unicorn label - UNI 107
Neujahrskonzert 1966 from London. For all the years, it had been a success since 1940 12 as if it was only a spectacular concert.
Nice to hear my grandfather conducting….
Pretty mediocre stuff ... Next!
Phenomenal to hear this virtuoso play solo and appreciate the tone and precision of his violin mastery.
Happy new year!
A superb revording i agree . I brought this a few years ago on ebay. I own many recordings of the 1812 overture as i just love tchaikovskys music. His music has tsken me through some very sad and emmotional times 😢. Like when my mum passed two years ago and my best friend committed suicide . I ended up with a terrible breakdown . Thanktfully tchaikovskys mysic helped me cope .
This is a true perfection! What a blend of two pure souls!

GRAN VERSIÓN
This is a lovely memento of Catholic churches with good choirs from the 50s...oh what has been lost!! Replaced with corny poor copies of 70s pop trash...
So wonderful.
Mechanical and metronomic from the first to the last note.
The recording balance puts the piano in the foreground in what Beethoven called sonatas for piano and cello.
9:23 Can can 😁😁😁😁😁❤❤❤
How old was Richter when he performed this?
Gracias, alemanes.
Very good recording and great performance from 1966
Neat song

It sounds great. Very sweet. Thanks
The Seekers song The Carneval Is Over led me here. So I know now that it was based on the Russian folk song.
Wie wunderschön! ❤❤❤
Merci 🙂.
In my view, Kenneth McKellar's rendition of this has always been the best.
Superb
Great upload
Complimenti
Great work by one of the 3 or so best cellists to have come our way. Beautiful and fondly admired.
I first heard this recording somewhere in the mid '50s, as a young cello student. It so inspired me that I learned each piece and performed them all during a period spanning the period between the late 1950 through the early 1970s. Today this particular record still holds the record as my favorite, most revered performances.
Serioso Serioso, I don't know who you are but you take me back to my dad's record collection and the smell of that black velvet vinyl duster...
100% better than Haydn's.
One of my first classical music albums. Boston Symphony Orchestra. Released in 1964. I bought it perhaps in 1972. On the cover a little statuette of cherubs. I was a teen. I mostly listened to rock music and stuff like that. This album taught me that there were finer, superior things.
My first time hearing this intriguing piece & although not yet having a translation handy some of the spirit of the piece comes through its very beautiful music. This recording also demonstrates how seemingly expressive Robert Merrill could be when he had a project that really engaged him. His timbre was almost always glorious in his opera work & is perhaps even more so here due to the nature of the piece & his own Jewish heritage. When recorded, the early 1960s I believe, Merrill‘s instrument was at its peak, IMO, & is definitely a career high point for him.
Bravissimo! Grande maestro E. Gilels!

I found this from an article that was written on quora about the garden of Eden. I have never heard anything like this. I dont care for anything after 5:59 though.
Robert Merrill is the best!
Everything you post is off pitch!! Too Fast!! Fix your turntable!!
Hello from Jenison Michigan And the Idema Explorer Trail.
