A little sprinkling of 8 bits. A good helping of 16 bits and the occasional garnish of 32 bits. Join the Gits, Owen, and Andrew as they play retro video games from the 90s with varying degrees of success with beer tastings thrown in for good measure.
Our very early videos may refer to ourselves as the "two jerks". Well, there's a story behind that and we might share it some time.

Awesome video, guys! I played this recently, and it's pretty good. Although trying to get through the Delta City under construction stage drove me to madness. I finally gave in on the future stage with the multiple Terminator sketons. Still, it's very addictive! Also, I want to say how much I look forward to your videos each week! It's really fun and relaxing! Keep going, guys!
@swaggerblonde glad you enjoyed the video! This really is a fun title. I might play it again soon. Thank you for the words of encouragement. It's nice to hear that people are actually watching. Hopefully, you enjoy the new layout and theme months we have coming in 2025 😀
Good job on the video new format looks great
@@MeowMix19800 thank you! I really appreciate the feedback. Things are back to taking a bit longer to edit now, but I'm far happier with the results. It's good to know people notice :)
Nice nostalgic video guys, I played this a good bit way back when but never attempted any missions, I basically would just explore or constantly run amuck an clash with the police haha.🚘🎮🚔🍀
@Pjvenom1985 that's definitely a solid play strategy. Teenage me certainly would have done more of that.

Haha, glad you liked that little segment. It was fun to put together. I've recently learnt some more techniques around key framing and nested sequences in my video editor so it was a bit of playing around and trying to spice up our vids a little more for 2025.
Great video. Thanks for the shoutout. I totally forgot I recommended this. 😂
I think you mentioned you had been playing it in the comments of a "What's everyone been playing lately?" community post I made a while back. Glad you liked the video. We're tying to up the polish just a little for 2025.
Well played guys, pinball titles are usually a simple but fun laugh especially with some pals, the mention of Space Cadet definitely brought back memories.🕹🖖🌠🍀
Of course you'll have to take my word for it, but the lost footage of our original attempt was far more impressive. This would definitely be a fun game to have on a portable.
Nice video & well played guys. I only really played this title and Double Dash on the GameCube Mario Kart wise over the years, but loads of fond memories of the Crash Team Racing, multitap mayhem with lots of my pals.🕹⭐️🎮🍀
Glad you liked the video. We'll probably throw Crash Team Racing onto the Playstation pile at some point. I think Andrew has played that one before so it might be good to take a look.

Thanks, and welcome to the channel!
Such an absolute classic title the game that started it all for me in the early 90s, blew my tiny little mind! Great video & well played guys also congratulations on the TH-camr of the month nomination jazz and best of luck.🕹✅️🎮🍀
@Pjvenom1985 Thanks, man, and we're glad you enjoyed the video. 2025 is going to see what I consider to be a bump in production values, so stay tuned for that.
Who knew the North Pole was so dangerous! Really makes you appreciate the work Santa puts in each year to bring us all those toys… 😝 _Side note - I still refuse to try eggnog. The ‘nog’ is a real turnoff to me._ 😅
@AngryDadGaming yeah, I'm not a fan of the 'not either, to be honest. But at least now I know. Andrew thought he wanted another glass after filming. After he had that glass, he realised he had made a mistake 😅
Now that the stress of the recent days is behind us, we’re looking forward to watching this one in full tomorrow night! Happy New Year, lads!
@OriginalMasters a Happy New Year to you folks as well. Hopefully, you enjoy this one. I have just finished editing our first video for 2025 (released 12th Jan.) and am excited to share the improvements with the channel.
11:30: Paul says, “That’s Satan Santa, not Coffee Santa!” And I agreed! Paul also liked the Advent calendar level setup. The eggnog clings to the mouth, yeah! The one I had over the holidays had a sht ton of high fructose corny syrup, too!

The ripped out heart, brilliant! Sensible plan all around from one of our absolute favorite pair of lads. Go forth!
Just keep up the good wook, I'm over 40 so I think you're audience is older... no need to keep it clean... but I do understand you guys trying to make that dirty youtube money lol
@danielbarron6206 thanks for the feedback. Yeah, we've discussed audience retention in regards to shorter attention spans and tend to come back to: "your short attention span is something you should fix, rather than us to pander to"
Keep the titles related to the games you play and don't confuse ppl, and keep doing what you doing till you find your niche. If you are not having fun you ain't going to grow. (says the expert*).
@Popclone "experts" on growth and success on TH-cam seems to be one of those situations where you could ask 10 people and get 20 good but conflicting answers. I hear what you're saying with the titles. We'll still drop the "Sunday Sega Sessions". I've started renaming some vids like that because on a casual scroll on a phone, for example, all our vids would show up as "Sunday Sega Ses...". Dropping that now makes the game name at least stand out and hopefully catch someone's interest.
Great update vid guys, a Valentine's/fighting theme is a wild idea I've never even thought about before! Love it 😂. I felt seen with your (smaller channels) comments, as I'm definitely on the "just getting started part of my journey. Anyway have a great Christmas lads! 🎄
@Benjisretrospective you are on our list in a good way :) BTW: Did you get that capture interface you were hoping for for your birthday?
@X-Bit-Gits not exactly the one I wanted, (cheaper no brand lol) but I need to play around with it a little more it should be fine. I've been meaning to ask actually what mic do guys use?
@Benjisretrospective we use Rode Wireless Go II and Rode plug-in livelier (sp?) Mics. If you shop around, you can get the former as a kit with the receiver and 2 mics and some other goodies for $350-400 AUD. The plugin mics then cost around $80-100 AUD for a pair
This one is also on the Genesis. I got it at cash converters on a whim knowing nothing about it, and apart from its brutal difficulty it's an awesome game. Just curious if you guys ever done a top 5 or top 10 drinks vid?
@Benjisretrospective drinks vid: not yet, but that's not a crazy idea. We'll be mixing up a lot of things in the new year, so such a thing is possible. I'd be curious to see the Genesis version of this. I have played it since we did this recording and doing some level/XP grinding is definitely a good idea.
Pretty sure this is on rare replay, great use of physics with love it or hate it gameplay in my opinion. Great vid guys!
@@Benjisretrospective thanks, mate. I clearly enjoy it a lot more than Andrew did 😅. I agree: love it or hate it, probably no middle ground.
After having another go at the second level, I've learnt a few things: 1. The "Efficient Engines" from the shop seem to reduce fuel consumption. Makes sense. This is definitely a good thing as that second level is very large compared to the first. 2. There are also "Extra Pods" that can be found in the level itself. 3. The first object encountered to the left of the Mothership is engine boosters (hold Select to get more thrust) and they make the level a lot more achievable. 4. Missiles weren't necessary at all. Also, they probably "fly weird" because I suspect that they too are affected by gravity, momentum etc.
Wow, holding select while pressing fire is pretty cryptic isn’t it? Strict game in general!
Honestly? Nah, I don't think it's cryptic. The only other option would probably be replace your gun with the missiles. I played the 2nd level again last night and didn't need the missiles at all. Just remember that you have a shield and the enemies aren't too hard. It's definitely a "strict" game, but only because they've modelled momentum, inertia and gravity really well. Surprisingly well. Once you get the hang of that, it really is a fun and novel game. Definitely worth a try.
Awesome. Solar Jetman. I played this on a CRT. I took sheets of paper and put them on the screen, traced over the radar map section by section and then taped them all together. Once I had a full map I taped it to the wall and used it to clear each level. Probably the only way I cleared the game. I was cleaning my game room last night and had to deal with all my SJM maps. You guys should play Sub-terrania on Megadrive at some point. Both Solar Jetman and Sub-terrania's last level is a side scrolling shmp. Have a good week-end, guys.
Now that's dedication and probably a sound tactic! I have played it a bit after this was recorded, and that second level definitely ramps up the level size as well as the gravity. I can see how a wall-sized map would help. I bet finding those maps brought up a heap of nostalgia :) Thanks for recommending this one. It's definitely on my list of NES games to replay.
@@X-Bit-Gits I think I didn't send my reply by accident. Try Sub-Terrania for the Megadrive. It's like Taito's Lunar Rescue X Solar Jet Man. Protip: map thrusters to the B button. You guys should play Battletech for Megadrive. 2-player simultaneous action in the style of Desert Strike. Protip: mines are probably the most useful weapon. Mech chasing you? Drop a mine. Building to destroy? Drop a mine and go deal with something else. Have a Merry Christmas, bros.
@@honkhonkler1246 ooooh, some more excellent suggestions. We'll have to take a look. Simultaneous Mech fun on Mega Drive? I'm hooked already! A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too, mate!
For various reasons, I had to adjust and render this video about 5 times. In that time I came to suspect that the "Where are the ghosts?" scenes are because you probably have a time limit to get to the ghosts. That would explain why you do want to drive as fast as you can and why upgrading to faster cars in the Master System version would make sense. Could be wrong. I haven't read a manual for either.
man this game sucks ass lol
Yeah. I think AVGN was right on this one: It just sucks. Apparently the Mega Drive Ghostbusters game isn't entire shite.
That Powerwine looks wild! Get me through a half a bottle of red and I’m game for it! Ghostbusters on Master System certainly looks a ton better than the NES game! Too bad it’s still nasty hard, yeah. Good luck getting both of you guys set up for a live!
Seriously, give it a try, if only to be shocked how not horrible it is!
Give Power Wine a try, that is. Ghostbusters on the 8 bit systems is definitely horrible.
@@X-Bit-Gits😂
Awesome video, and a really janky but enjoyable game! One of my first dual analogue experiences. 25:20-yep, I work in electrical and woulda done the same thing. Nope, not today. Let’s be safe, step away, put our heads together. Maybe get a nod at our next safety meeting. 🎉 Hey guys, what’s SSS-060 about?
@OriginalMasters We're slowly retitling the Sunday Sega Sessions videos, abbreviating to SSS. Otherwise, if browsing on a narrow device, like a phone I notice all the titles show up as "### - Sunday Sega Sessi...". This way, a browsing user will actually see the game name and possibly the platform in the title. The hope being to grab more attention from casual browsers. Always evolving 😉
Cool games, love the Master System
BASE ARE BELONG ??? 😄
36:50-you lads have done it! Okay, maybe not, but there were some moments of great flying! I think this is a fun, tough game Apparently you can loop the Japanese version 32 times and get unique text endings for each completion. Check them out, quite barmy.
A lot of work went into that... cheat entry :P That 32x loop would explain the high numbers we saw in the screen select. Maybe I'll fire up a save state just to capture them all.
Cheers from Eccosystem!
@summboodie3562 Welcome to the channel, mate. I hope you enjoy your new Saturbs when they arrive 😀
I thought you guys already played Cadash but on the Megadrive. You guys played Blades of Vengeance. Looks like EA made their own version of Cadash. I'm putting them both on my "to play" list.
@@honkhonkler1246 they're both fun. I think I'd take Blades of Vengeance first, but after taking the "grind for levels" advice, this one is also fun
So I took a commenter'd advice and did a bit of level grinding in the first and second stages. That certainly made the skeletons and the Black Pudding easier. Additional things to report: - After getting the Mermaid Scales after defeating the second boss, you no longer suffer knock-back - Shops do exist and the Fighter can get a "fireball sword". It throws fireballs but has a bit less power in melee.
21:18-don’t taunt a skeleton! 😅 Fun game, especially with two players, and I’m really liking your layout changes. I need to watch a playthrough again to see how long it takes to get through this game safely, because to me it seems like a person could be stuck in the arcade playing this for over an hour. And is there any way at all to continue? I’ve only ever played this one briefly, but it seems pretty damned cool, and the music is great.
Hahaha, I guess you'd know about keeping the undead appeased. So, I just took @Chris-Courage 's advice from the comment earlier and did a bit of grinding to level up and managed to make it past the first two bosses. Even after at least getting past that, there was no continue option upon death. Definitely more fun with some extra player levels under your belt. And yeah, the layout change is really just a green screen. But it does give us more options.
@@X-Bit-GitsRough game!
The game does tell you, but it's best to kill enough enemies to get your levels up to 3 or 4 before moving onto the skeletons.
I wouldn't be surprised that we missed a key piece of information :) Grinding for a bit in the first level... makes sense. I might give that a go later today because I do like a lot about this game. Except the water knock-back... but I made my opinions on that quite clear already in the video :)
31:15 is just too good-definitely our type of humor! But then again, most of this video is my type of humor with several Simpsons references! Just a lot of fun and good vibes as always.
I am working on editing video 59 right now. Does the phrase: "All your base are belong to us!" ring any bells? 🙃
Wow AWESOME my friend 5 from HAPPY vlog channel
Thanks. Welcome to the channel!
“Maggots wins the game!” 🤣 Lots of funny moments in this one, and yeah, this game was everywhere on release. Ironically now it’s not played much because classic video games have become the sole property of people who dislike sports. Foolish, as this game is always a crazy fun time. Hope Andrew’s foot is healing up!
This was a lot of fun to play, to edit and to watch again. Glad you liked it! As much as you'd have to work hard to convince me to play a football video game, this one was a lot of fun. Who knows, maybe we'll try more sports games. After all, this channel is for our exploration as much as the entertainment of the audience 😀 Andrew's foot is healing as best it can. It is difficult for him to find the opportunities to rest it properly, but he is making progress with it.
