things seem to be progressing nicely and the parts are looking good, nice and clean lovely jubilee. tip for you when you rebuild the top end dont forget to put a new orings in front of the cam bearings, 1oring in front of each cam bearing before you fit the cam sprocket spacer and make sure that the cir clips on the cam bearings have the cut outs gaps in the circlips that are on the bearings at the top at the highest point eg at 12 o,clock

With the air blower would drown it with wd 40 and just give it a good clean personally your doing ok for first time we all started like that learn by your mistakes and when refiting would use a little gasket seal around the edge first

I would get a fresh side of valve guides, stem seals, all the valves checked and a new set of tappers as a minimum. It will cost more now but it will save you having to lift the head again and do it later on. The marks are from poor AFR, I would imaging the pistons the head come off are the same.

Just caught up after not watching for a bit. Always worth a watch and just proves fooking about with old fords and shite escalates rapid. Keep them coming brother and big up the chocolate orange wrapper.

I run a modified Sierra head on my BT escos, no issues at all run a wire under slam panel for temp gauge and your golden. Stat I use escos turbo oil feed I run up and behind block. Cam should just tap out but I’ve only ever done it with head still in the car

Use the red scotch-brite with a light oil/water mix (duck-oil)

Burton will do you a cylinder head, only 6 grand 😬

You can block off the oil feed on the 4x4 head. I’m running a 4x4 head on mine but the oil feed is taken from the same place as a 2WD. Supposedly better oil pressure that way. 2WD and 4x4 heads use different cams too and the water temp sensor on the side of the head is at the front on 2WD and rear on 4x4. Obviously you can’t run the standard turbo damper set up on a 4x4 head either.

On a old saph i had i skimmed a head down to 138.40 and tig welded some rough bits and was totally fine still is today with the guy who bought the car off me.

There’s nothing wrong with the heater motor it will be your fuse box breaking down and a right pain to fix , common problem on escort cosworths As for the head the Cosworth recommended minimum is 138.68 as you say but you can go well below that the risk generally into the 137’s is an inlet valve seat falling out due to the reduced meat around it , use a thicker cosmetic head gasket when refitting GGR sell 3 different thicknesses Machine shop should be able to skim that head no problem just ask for the minimum to be taken off

Next time you're out at the escort, you couldn't measure the rough dimensions of the carpet please? I bought one advertised as sierra years ago, off one of the Essex cossy massive. It turned out to too narrow, so I'm guessing he confused it with an escort one, as he had loads of parts at the time. I always enjoy the vids, banter and tunes 👍

Av u tryed the switch in the car mate before the motor for blowers fuses azwel I'd try cleanin the resistor terminals up mate first be look of them

Is the small radiator air conditioning, or is it connected to the hot water of the motor?

I know people have had those heads ally welded and re-skimmed to save them, not sure of the cost though. You can also get different thickness multi layer gaskets to compensate for head thickness. Do you know where the cat is getting in? That would do my nut in.

0.44 - I can't stop laughing😂. But honestly - you need to sort the cat problem out - they are birty dastards - as well as destroying your paintwork. They are vermin - I'm tortured the same way. You're more knowledgeable than you let on - but fair play to you bring it to a machine shop, and best if its one that is familiar with those engines. You might be on the limit - but maybe there is a gasket that will do your job and allow another skim. Somebody on here is bound to be able to advise re the height of the head Fingers crossed it will be ok.

What about a large cat trap? Once it's in there, bung it in the boot, drive 50 miles away and let it go in the middle of nowhere. Very cheap at £20 and not illegal.🤔
