It's rare to get video of Cotton Perry at his home track, Brainerd Optimist Dragstrip. Actually, this is the only one I've ever seen. Thanks to Rickie Millard.

JOHN FORCE ENGINE STARTUP AT COMMERCE IN 2016
As a GC myself I swear men on job sites can be entertained by the most simple stuff! This includes myself. Whether nail gun qualifications, or having the greeny look for a board straightener in the truck for an hour, or seeing who can do the most ultimate sit ups it’s never a dull moment on site.
Thank you Wayne Holland!!
Sorry bad auto
Good video and good racing
Now y’all know how the hard of hearing suffers!
Where do I put money in for the AUDIO??
he just wanted a picture it's not that funny😂😂
Good times !
Grew up there my family raced there every Saturday night came off that hill a few times lol
Loved this car wish I new who had now days
I went by there last week there is a dirt mound about 30ft in the air on the track now
This was a cool video, Wayne. You should do more. BTW. I'm the guy that build the model of your Chevelle for you.
Good ole days
Is that the real car or just a tribute replica and why does it have a V8 with dart Buick heads shouldn't it have the 292 6cyl, bored out to 301
Love this! I grew up seeing the half a dozen! Sherrlll lived one my street! I can remember seeing it driving thru! As a kid I would get so excited! Dale Allen driving! Also remember the orange maverick he had as well!
Remember teaching Perry and Hedrick at the old Warmer Robins Dragstrip forever ago. The 6 cylinder H/MP blew everything away.
Was that a 6 cylinder?
I have listened to this idk how many times & still can't comprehend what he's trying to say🤣🤣🤣
That's the bad little Nova I remember, saw it run at Drag City Acres in Ringgold back in the seventies. Thanks for posting this.
Wow! Those were the days. What a gathering of quality Mod's & SS!
That’s my pawpaw , gonna have to get him back on the strip soon , he’s 68 this year
If you don't remember the basketball goal, you ain't old enough. My first time down Brainerd Optimist was in 1964 on my brand new Honda Super 90...
Man, i miss those dry hops..those were good days. Thanks for the memories, Wayne.
My Father in Law raced at all these until about 2004. Lamar Bone is his name. He built some vicious motors.
I remember this race team from Lassiter Mountain Dragway in Alabama. They were all so kind to everyone! The son was very young at the time, but a very good driver! RIP Ralph.
Do you have any old pics or video of my old Maverick from around 1998-2004
How can I contact you about maybe purchasing some old photos?
Great video Wayne.
Billy got the Nova back out? He ran a black Chevy powered Mustang when I still lived in TN. Awesome video Wayne.
Great old days.
Great video Wayne.
Is that LC Bighams old car?
Used to go to Drag City in the seventies, saw Cotton Perry run the straight six Chevies there. Talked to him last year, interesting guy.
Wow, today’s NA 500 ci Pro Stock cars would gap these cars. Amazing how far technology has come.
The fastest pass in this video would barely make the field at an X275 race these days.
Track prep is another planet.
Pro stock record is 4.14 in the 1/8. At the time in perfect everything these cars would go high 4.20's.
What a great night at the track, should have 500k views.
My pops was friends with Ruth at Glendale speed
A proper 55...
Beautiful cars pity the EPA want to crush them !! Thanks potato Joe !!
I don't get why these frames are so high up, you want air underneath?
Two lane beauty! Pure perfection!
The Emperor hath no clothes! In other words: it's the most stupid looking "thing" ever concocted.
This is my dad, glad to see some old videos of him!
Click Bait! If you're going to give a video a title, put some content into the video related to that title.
Love the tri five's but I hate the quarter panels being cut up kill's the looks for me but that's just my opinion but it is a badass double nickel!🦾
Went to school with Randy. Most fun I've ever had in my life was Auto Body class at WBHS with a guy named Kenny Koons, and Randy. Laughs for days. If you see Smeltzer, tell'em Andy Cummings sends his best. That 55 is real car now.
Unless Chuck caught and passed Dave at the finish line it looked like Dave crossed first from that angle that's why they need the camera at the end pointing at the start
Chuck needs a new car
Not now
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Wayne. Great to see you on You Tube with your great videos. I heard you mentioned on The Hot Rod Horder. Fan of his channel. So I had to look you up. BTW. This is Matt. The guy that built you that model of your Close Encounters Chevelle for you. Best of luck on You Tube. I'll spread the word.
Do you have a video link to the build? I watched the chevelle race at brainerd dragstrip as a teenager in the 80s
