Ball, but if he wants to make it look better his glove load needs to go outside the right foot so the glove starts outside and below the pitch

Good Framing👍

My son loves all-star gear but he’s wore evo shield the past couple years and he has fallen in love with the magnetic clip for the chest protector. I know they mentioned looking for ways to redo the clip and that would be something to look into!

Good job at framing.
Its a "rhythm" and helps if runner takes off ya dont "settle" and keep moving!
In what situations?
Your vid was random for me. I get it now.. baseball.
Great advise! I used the same method but used warm water to help soften up my gloves.
One knee down doesn’t allow catchers to effectively get to all the balls in the dirt and block them. This, they need to do with runners on base. Have seen it over and over again in MLB and it’s a terrible technique. Lazy!!!
When it comes to "poptime" if ya UP and already have leg muscle FLEXED then ya lose that "load and fire" strenth! Whole time ya "UP" ya power is leaking out!
I think this comes from feeling balanced over mechanics especially in younger catchers. As different muscles develop, the catchers stance can mature to get off the toes/balls of the feet to position for more advanced maneuvering.
ITS REALLY OFF FROM THE WAY A CATCHER OF A 300GAME WINNER RECEIVES PITCHES AND THESE KIDS BAD TECHNIQUE. DIGITAL CALLS ELIMINATE BAD TECHNIQUE WHERE DECEIVING FANS OF HONEST PLAY ENDS
Need to gain height by raising hips so mitt stays at face level ans not above...then "dunk" it as ya "sit" backdown in ya hips!
Frame the corner mot the middle. Ur trying to hard ur pitch will hate u
Teaching kids to cheat mindset.
Most old school (i had mind changed to knee down) dont understand that catcher wint "kickstand out" until AFTER they know the runner didn try to steal! They yell in comments about a position a catcher is in that he would never go to IF THE RUNNER STOLE! 11th grade son with 2 years Varsity already is low 1.9s (in game) fron right knee down!
Angles are very important in catching... at the younger ages it can be difficult because the pitching isn't as accurate but setting up properly to more easily move the ball back toward the plate has many benefits.
This is a terrible way of framing pitches. It fools nobody
Many people don’t realize that catching is grabbing not just waiting for the ball to hit the glove.
Removes pitchers target. That bothers some throwers
Create leverage against the path of the ball ????
Keep the leftbelbow bent. That way it doesn't look like you're jerking the pitches to the umpire. In my day, we didn't have a break in our gloves, so we had to be 2 handers. Catching that way made the glove basically float towards the strike zone every time. A straighter left elbow actually takes it away from the zone making pulling pitches mandatory. Catch 10 pitches with the elbow bent and see what you think. I umpired college baseball for 33 years, and was drafted by the Pirates.
Thanks?
Framing just standard procedure now huh lol
We do it more than anything else.
Always has been

I hope you notice when your catcher throws out the guy you just walked trying to steal second. Or when he calls a good game.
Literally what he said.
When did we forget to have aleast balls width of sway in hips to help get around the "in/out" pitches and only worry about getting the low ones!? By doing so ya late to the belt pitch and it becomes a "stab and jerk" type of little legue framing!
This type of catching has been proven to be more effective at framing. Move your hand as late as possible and take the caught ball away as soon as possible. Look at the framing runs rate between catchers that use the different styles and you’ll see the newer one is way ahead. Umpires feel less like they are being tricked and more likely to give you the calls accordingly. It’s all about catching the ball as close to the strike zone as possible and then getting it out of the way before the umpire can use your glove as a reference.
In/out pitches are a lot harder to frame in the current game the high/low. Focusing on the framing that gets you the most value is just the smart way to go. Lose a couple wide ones in the attempt to get twice as many low calls going your way. Since everyone’s strikeout pitch usually falls down out of the zone it’s just the better approach.
I don’t think that’s what poptime means
You are correct. We just use the POPTime app to help us calculate this metric.
This guy should barely be coaching youth baseball. He teaches nothing. Unless I'm mistaken, he was the hitting coach for the Seattle Mariners. He sounds like a con artist.
This guy sucked and he is fully unqualified to be a coach at any level of baseball. It is 100% about him. It is 100% about him helping hitters find the best version of themselves. He hurt them The only way to get to success is not through trial and error. It is not about failure. Hitting coaches are supposed to have good ideas for each player, and they need the ability to see what is working or not working. This guy fucked the Mariners and all of their fans. The fact that the Mariners front office kept him around for so long is an indictment of their baseball knowledge.
This is awesome
Amen!
Look how that worked out for ya 😊
What is the point of this video?
Show some cool catching stuff
Just imagine getting hit in the inner thigh
Kinda seems like everything else in baseball, it’s prioritizing what it’s important is really the argument here. Kinda of like the old butterfly vs standup goalie argument in hockey. I think both stances have their situations, with pros and cons. That You won’t get me to buy in that knee down with a runner on third is ever the best option but I do try to evolve my opinions. It’s all about pros and cons right?
