Hello I'm Kristen!
I’m a birder, (master) naturalist, native plant gardener and backyard bird feeding specialist. As the owner of two Wild Birds Unlimited stores (in Barrie, ON and Newmarket, ON) I have the pleasure of talking to people about birds and nature everyday- and I love it! My family and I enjoy our backyard bird and wildlife so much, that we wanted to create a LIVE Bird Feeder Cam to share the joy we get from the wildlife we share space with.
On this channel you can tune into our Live Bird and Wildlife Cams, get tips on feeding and attracting birds and wildlife to your yard, get tips on gardening with native plants, as well as joining in on many other adventures.
Thank you for viewing my channel. I hope you’ll find something of value. If you enjoy my content please like, subscribe and share.

How Many Cardinals Can Your Count?
We had a bit of a storm today and as the wind finally dies down a bit a Vatican (yes thats the term!) of cardinals comes to dine.
🚨Spoiler Alert🚨
👇
I counted 21 at 1:26 but a 22nd bird flew to the ground just before that shot. If you fine more let me know!

How Birds Behave When a Hawk Is Present
มุมมอง 3814 วันที่ผ่านมา
When a hawk or aerial predator is nearby the birds will have some interesting behaviours. Some will vocalize the danger. Others will fly away all at once in an instant. While others wait out the threat by freezing in place to avoid detection. In this video you will see the doves fly away in an instant while a Downy Woodpecker, White-breasted Nuthatch and American Goldfinch freeze in place motio...

Hi , Kristen. Thank you very much for the feeder cam and Live video. I love all the birds, but speciallly Blue jays and Cardinals. What a colours!!! Greetings from Spain. ❤❤❤
I live in Italy and I have never seen Cardinals, perhaps in the USA they are the most widespread, judging from the feeders I watch
The are primarily found in Eastern North America and down into Mexico. A common bird in much of their range but not normally coming to bird feeders together in large numbers like this. It's unique to the time of year (when non-breeding) and how large the feeding area is. Typically its more common to see them just in a pair. 😊
I love the suet cage on the right, only smaller birds and woodpeckers can get at it..never seen that before.
I have it they sell it at wildbirds unlimited it’s around 65 bucks
It's called the Starling Proof Suet Feeder (available at Wild Birds Unlimited) and is a personal favourite of mine! 😁
👍
I never saw a nuthatch til this past fall at my bird feeder. I very clever and quick flier! They are not scared of sparrows.
Cute little birds aren't they?! Extremely efficient at bird feeders taking a seed and flying away. ☺️
At 8:13, you said 20 metres and the graphic shows 20 feet Could you please clarify? Thanks and very nicely done.
Sorry for the confusion! 20 feet is what I meant 😊
@@KristenMartyn Thank you!😀

I only watch TV from November-- March. I have learned tons this winter from your Channel and one other. The problem solving techniques to resolve problems are invaluable. Also, I only watch the gardening Channels in the winter as well. ❤ and appreciate your Channel. Best
@@gracie1598 that’s such a great idea- to take time to learn during the colder winter months! 🥶 Thank you for the kind words and for watching 🙌
I wish you all the luck in the world, because feeding animals in such a harsh climate is what will keep many of them alive.👏👏👏
@@common64 it certainly helps give them an advantage during a very difficult time ☺️
I ❤ Cardinals. A majestic bird. ❤😊
They are so gorgeous!
I love those woodpeckers❤😊
Me too they are so much fun to watch!
So happy to see Bluejays & Cardinals eating.
The are such beautiful birds
Love your feeding station and love those woodpeckers!
Thank you so much! We love them too!
Discovered your Channel while reviewing one of my favorites this evening. Your Live viewing features two feeders I do not currently have I'm hoping since the description mentioned you owned two Wildbird Unlimiteds, this is where you ascertained these feeders. There is a Wildbirds Unlimited 30 minutes from my residence. I like the cage around the suit as opposed to the upside down option. I've got to get that. I stopped putting suit out last summer simply because of the Starlings. I ❤ seeing the comparisons on the patterns regarding the finches to mine here in the U.S. I've not seen one Sparrow on your live feed. I do not mind them. Currently, I implement different techniques in order to allow the other birds to feed. Sparrows are mentioned in the Bible, and I actually like the color chocolate brown. Mostly, they're a bird and can not help their color. I use distraction bird feeders and throw millet on the ground. I've gone on relentlessly snowed in this week. Cannot tell you enough how much I have enjoyed viewing the number and variety of birds feeding at once. It might possibly be the angle of your camera as well. Thank you. Best
It's always nice to see people enjoying the feeders, thanks for the kind words! Yes I got all my feeders from Wild Birds Unlimited. Yes that suet feeder is called a Starling Proof Suet Feeder. We get different species of sparrows seasonally. Right now we have Juncos and American Tree Sparrow (they don't visit the camera feeders), but during the summer and migration periods we get other species. We also have a spot on the ground with millet for our Juncos and other sparrows during the colder months. Snow definitely brings the birds to our feeders. Natural food becomes a little harder to find and therefore they visit the feeders a little more. Thanks so much for watching!!
Hungry little birds. Love the cardinals.❤😊
Thanks, they are so gorgeous!
I was looking for a Pink Siskin as never saw one before. Maybe you meant the Pine Siskin at the feeder 😂
Ha ha thank you I didn't notice the typo! Yup just a regular old Pine Siskin :)
nice job
Thank you so much!
We have mockingbirds here in Florida. Which size entrance hole would you suggest for mockingbirds?
Some nice dense shrubs 😊 Mockingbirds won't use a nest box but they do build cup nests in trees and shrubs.
Beautiful redheaded woodpecker
Gdy już za zimno na balkonie, to ten kanał jest ulubioną rozrywką moich dwóch kocic 😂😊 Pozdrowienia z Polski ❤❤❤
Hello kitties! Thanks for watching and hello from Canada!
So peaceful and beautiful. I can watch them all day long. Love Birdies.
@@randallbrostean8009 I wish ours would stay all day! Despite the size the ones that visit us are quite leery of any moment. Always a treat when they stop by and stay a short while!
She's a beauty! Oh my gosh, you have so much snow there.
@@chrisoutdoors so much snow!! ❄️
Cool
@@Joy_vlogca thanks so much 🙂
Why do Pigeons sound like the Squeeky Wheel on an old Shopping Cart when they fly?🤭
Thats a great questions and observation! Doves make a whistling sound when they fly because the air rushing through their feathers causes them to vibrate and create sound. I think its so cool that certain species of birds can make noises that are non-vocal like doves and nighthawks!
Full support from Canada 🫶🤗🍒🇨🇦🎄❄️❄️❄️
Awww thanks so much 🇨🇦🫶
Beautiful bird and winter scenery
Thanks so much!
Wow nice. I'm waiting for my first Pileated to show up here.
Good luck! For these birds it can take a while for one to appear but some people are lucky enough to attract them regularly!
nice. Do you ever get any red bellied woodpeckers? I have them here in Stouffville.
Yes! They visit us regularly (daily). Such beautiful birds. Nice that they visit your feeders!
You have an amazing bird feeder setup and background scenery. I'm guessing you must be further north than me (I'm in Markham) as I saw snow on your live stream now. New sub ✅👍Oh...and the Evening Grosbeak is beautiful 🙂🐦
@@chrisoutdoors thanks so much!! I’m not as far as you might be thinking 😉 We are the GTA as well 👍
Madness....it should be simple and not huge and expensive like this HUGE product
I'm not sure the technology is there yet for smaller wifi setups. A power source is needed and the solar panel just makes things so much bigger. The box itself was appropriate dimension wise for the species I wanted to attract. I totally agree about it being made more simple and less expensive.
Me and my wife have picked over 500 pds of seeds in the last 10 years
Wow!! Thats incredible. Was that to plant them in new areas?
@@KristenMartyn because seed companies that sell the seed have to get it from people like me
Very thorough…thank you.
It's so cool!!!
Thank you!
Where can I get that suet feeder that the pileated woodpecker is on and what happened to your live stream?
It's called the Startling Stumper Suet Feeder if you're in Canada you can get them from either of our stores www.wbu.com/barrie or www.wbu.com/newmarket and if your in the US you can order from a Wild Birds Unlimited location there www.wbu.com/store-locator/. We will have some new live feeds starting soon. We had to do some maintenance, clean everything and then we took a bit of a holiday.
i miss the red headed, had them in NY not here in Tx thanks for even a fast glimpse
They are so gorgeous! I'm really hoping a family moves in. I've had about 3 sightings of them in our area in the last 5 years. So I have some hope but sadly they are rare here.
Where are the squirrels?
Great question! We prevent them with baffles.
So beautiful
Thank you they are such a cute little family!
We have a pair of red bellied woodpeckers here in west Texas but would love to see these other birds ❤
So lovely! I bet you have all kinds of amazing birds where you are!
Ohhhh lucky you! I had one visit a couple of years ago and I'm still thinking about it! :)
They are such a memorable visitor. I hope he returns for you!
Indigo buntings are gorgeous !!!!!
They are so gorgeous. We feel so lucky to get them at our feeders!
That is not a Red Headed Woodpecker. It is a Red Bellied Woodpecker.
The one on the feeder is a Red-belly. The bird that flies over the station at 0:19 is a Red-headed. 😊
I am jealoue of ur awesome setup for the bjrds,,,,
Thanks so much! We really get a lot of joy out of our feeders.
Does wild birds Unlimited still sell that caged suet feeder? I can’t find it on the online store.
Yes many of our stores carry it but I don't believe its available online yet. You would have to call your local store to have it shipped. 😊
That is a cute bird! What type of seed do you have out?
He's loving the white millet I put out for sparrows 😀
Had our first purple finch at our backyard in Central PA last week!
Oh yay how awesome!
I saw my first purple finch a few weeks ago. Also, the red-winged blackbirds have returned, though none have come to my feeder yet.
That's awesome congrats! They are such beautiful finches.
💙💙💙💙🙌🙌🙌🙌
Happy for you
Thanks so much 😄🙏
I've never seen a black squirrel with a reddish tail.
Pretty interesting I thought!
I looove this little bird.
Me too they are so adorable! 🥰
