7. Entre Plume et Sable (1999), Pascale Jakubowski Jakubowski was born in Algeria, and her family left the country when she was very young due to the Algerian Revolution. She has since rediscovered the music of the indigenous people of Africa. She references many of the techniques frequently demonstrated by these people in this piece, the title of which translates to “Between Feather and Sand.”...

6. Vents Tournants (2020), Philippe Raynaud Vents Tournants, meaning “turning winds,” demonstrates the entropy of nature and battle against the elements. The alto flute struggles against the pre-recorded sounds, which emulate some sort of meteorological disturbance, until finally the battle winds down to a calm resolution. The piece pays homage to André Jolivet, who profoundly inspires Raynaud’...

To the Sea

3. To the Sea (1999), Xavier Dayer To the Sea was written as a tribute to Cy Twombly, the American painter, whose artwork would quote poetry, mythology, ancient stories, and more, and was nearly as indecipherable as this piece of music. Seeming to be a musical piece of poetry, Dayer explores the full capabilities of the alto flute and creates an atmosphere of effervescent and etheric mystery. M...
Petit Aleph

2. Petit Aleph (1986), Philippe Manoury This piece derives from Manoury’s 1985 work for voice and orchestra titled Aleph. He compiled the main motivic elements from Aleph into a solo piece for bass flute that is a mere summary of the overall work- a “petit” version if you will. Aleph is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, which is used in mathematics to notate the sequence of infinite sets...

Fascinating to hear the detail of the flutes/piccs. Kudos on some fantastic playing, and editing! 🎉
Just love it; thank you 🎶
now teach us how to play gohan next
Thank you very much for sharing. Ikaw na!
La barre est haute...!!!..très très haute...!!!! BRAVO.!!
I will come back and watch again once I am able to play well 😂
Great! 😂
It is adorable watching multiple versions of you bob your head along with the song lol
i love how into it he gets. you can tell he loves what he is doing.
You should give a house to where the foyer and the stairs look glorious and I see your roof slowly
I am trying to be as considerate to the players as possible when I do orchestration. Meanwhile composers are doing THIS.
I play flute and piano a little bit
I have trouble with the middle register. I either accidentally play an octave lower or hit the next overtone and play a fifth higher.
Thanks a lot for sharing!!! I am trying to learn it for my Chinese flute playing (vertical flute). Thanks!
I have known and loved the “sacre” for over 40 years. And I am always awestruck and overflowing with enthusiasm when I discover new details of this masterpiece - as in this video. Hearing only the flutes in the foreground again opens up new levels. Thank you very much and hats off!
Super tutorial. I started playing piccolo on an ANCIENT and leaky silver piccolo in 1993. Excellent showing the embouchure and techniques.
Where can we find the sheet music?
I was always haunted by the sound of alto and bass flutes - this is such an amazing album
excellent work
I'll never understand why some composers feel the need to write pieces in F# major or other "difficult" scales. In my opinion it's just sadism. But it's probably because I'm just an average amateur musician.
Short answer is that all keys have a distinct sound, and even if you don't think you hear the difference, you do! Especially in a long form work like this ballet, where there are a lot of key changes and one section must sound different relative to another.
cool
I like it that you are teaching and you are younger than others teaching online. You have a refreshing way of explaining.
Flute tutorials are good for me

My favorite flute teacher, my studio teacher, who I never played piccolo for. Of course you can play piccolo with your Thin Lips.
I lucked out wanting to play piccolo. I got to play Freshman year. And then chose whether I played piccolo or principal flute. The conductor asked and then assigned.
Bravo!!!
Hi I was wondering how I can help prevent my lips from buzzing on the high notes
Very good tip, thank you.
Brilliant and insanely difficult!
If you still have the sheet music I would love to look at it
Where can i purchase this arrangment?
Thank you, sir.👍😎
I am excited for when i go ro college because the place i would love to go to is julliard (drama major)

Fantastic! Very difficult stuff... you executed it flawlessly.
Absolutely awesome. I can't imagine how much work you put into this to get it all lined up and the various parts.
Wonderful experience to share, thank you.
Legend has it that this piece caused such an outrage when it first premiered in 1913, that the whole theater (including the musicians) broke out into a riot.
Heart rendingly beautiful arrangement 3:42

BRILLIANT!!!!

I am new to your channel but let me say I think it would be SO awesome if you took a look at other genres of music and an even bigger look at Jazz flute! There's not a lot of people in it and as a classical flutist, your journey in learning this music would DEFNITELY call lots of flute players and musicians to see how you are doing. This is what brought me to Nahre Seol being a classical and now jazz pianist. I love your videos and although I have just found out about your channel, I imagine other people would find this interesting... this is just an I idea! I also think it would be awesome if you kept making tutorial videos and also blogging videos from your experience as the great flute player that you are! I hope you are well.
