The part of the Christmas Story most people miss - John 1:1-14
มุมมอง 4312 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
We celebrate the baby in the manger, but what do we do with the baby who grows up? Eventually the manger returns to just feed the animals. The story of Jesus goes far beyond an empty manger. It also includes a cross, which becomes empty, and astonishingly a tomb which is empty! Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift. www.heathmontpc.org.au
Who is the one who would not worship Jesus? - Matthew 2:1-20
มุมมอง 3319 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Every story has a villain, and the Christmas story is no different. Even when it is a true story, the villain still makes an appearance. And what this villain does is so appalling it is what he is best known for. As we continue our Stories of Christmas, we come to the dark spot in the story, and we see that we could end up being the villain ourselves. Who is the one who would not worship Jesus?...

The story of the shepherds is a wonderful and heart-warming story. But please don’t miss the wonder and the glory of the story - They saw and heard all that they had been told about a Saviour. The unbelievable is believed by them. And told by them. And it is for you. www.heathmontpc.org.au

Joseph is the forgotten character in the Christmas story. He also seems to be one of the characters who disappears much earlier than we would expect. But he is vitally important to the story of the birth of Jesus. And as we hear about Joseph, we hear about us. Are you braver than this man? www.heathmontpc.org.au

The story of Mary is the story of one of the characters of the Christmas story. It is a wonderful and essential part to the story. But how much do you know about her? How much do you know about her courage and bravery? And what do you know about her faith? In this first Christmas sermon in 2024, Brian helps us see Mary's faith and how that can be an encouragement and example to us. And he asks ...
The story-teller isn't just telling stories - Matthew 13:1-17
มุมมอง 31หลายเดือนก่อน
We all love good stories, and Jesus tells some of the best stories you could hope to hear. They are short, and they are simple, but they are also profound. They are better known as parables. In this story, Jesus talks about a farmer who is hand sowing seed and what happens with those seeds. But the story is about much more than gardening advice. Can you hear it? www.heathmontpc.org.au

"Tell a man there are 300 billion stars in the universe and he'll believe you. Tell him a bench has wet paint on it and he'll have to touch it to be sure." There are plenty of signs out there, and the...

Our actions prove what we really are. Sometimes our lack of action proves what we really are and what we believe. มุมมอง 272 หลายเดือนก่อน
We read about people and decide, "I want to be like that!" Or, we decide, "I don't want to be like that!!" In this chapter from Matthew's gospel, we see the way some of the religious leaders are acting and conclude "I don't want to be like that." Fortunately, Jesus also shows us that he is not like that. He fulfills the words of Isaiah the prophet who saw the Messiah to be much gentler than the...

Praise God for leading unto salvation and progress in life! I therefore bind to hell every desire to be led by one's instant feelings, thoughts and instincts leading to destruction while binding one to desire to be led by the holy spirit in all matters and decision making in my life, the lives of my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquitances, opponents, the children I teach and the body of Christ, binding to hell every unequal yoke and common share with anyone lacking desire to led by the holy spirit in all matters and decision making while desiring being led by one's instant feelings, thoughts and instincts leading to destruction in accordance with this word and philippians 3:18-19, psalm 143:10, 2 corinthians 6:14-18 in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah, glory to God ❤.

Thank you. I was having trouble understanding this one and now it’s clear.
We are glad it has helped.
I am so discouraged by pastors ramming it in my throat that without faith it is impossible to please God. Yes I know thats true. But there is also a place for people like us.. who have been afflicted FOR SO LONG. Just like the father in Mark 9. If anyone wonders why Jesus asked “how long has your son been like this? It is because He was trying to demonstrate to us how a person’s heart can become weary due to the duration of the suffering that even if he tried, his mind cannot believe (although his heart believes hence he brought his son to Jesus in the first place). There are people in this world that had suffered for a very long time. Jesus considers this length of time as a vital factors that affect someone’s faith. Because sometimes we are not like Abraham although that is the goal. When pain nags and rages, it is hard to not have unbelief when you cant even think right to believe. Thank you for this video.. I wish preachers will preach that even when we are “faithless.. He is faithful”. When you ask for help, even if you feel you have zero faith… the fact that you ASKED, IS FAITH.
"He is faithful". This is our great comfort. Thanks for your words. We pray you will continue to know the help you seek. Bless you.
Great video Ty
Thanks.

Amen indeed.
Thank you Amen 🙏
Thank you.
my favourite verse in this passage is actually Mat 12:29 - "how can anyone enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can rob his house." This is precisely what Jesus did when he delivered the demon-possessed man (vs 22-28). On the cross Jesus defeated sin and death - and in doing so tied up the strong man. Today - this day - Satan is bound and Jesus is busy plundering his house. I LOVE this image because I have several loved ones in that house. I know by faith that the strong man is bound -- and so I pray constantly that Jesus will steal / set free / rescue my loved ones.
It is a powerful image, and a great comfort to those who know they have been set free from this strong man. Bless you.
Thank you Sir
Thanks for watching. Bless you.
I started watched via the live-stream before I paused it to attend my own church, and then watched the sermon when I got home, as I had my lunch. And I must say: ANNE your children's talk was fantastic! Loved it! I dropped in on Eliana (nearly 3) in the late afternoon - and she knew about the cows and the wooden yoke. . . We had a great little conversation about walking with Jesus! So well taught! Every blessing to you. ElizK
We're glad you were able to join us and attend your own church too. It's important to meet in person when you can. Thanks for letting us know about the impact of the children's talk. May God bless you as you continue these conversations with this little one.
thank you very much for the video! Didn't quite understood where elijah has already come. Bit you've explained it very well. Thanky you again👍❤ God Bless.
Glad it was helpful! Bless you.
It is a high calling to be faithful and trusting amidst trials and suffering... and a powerful witness... We are to walk by faith and not by sight!
It can be a good reminder that we exercise faith by trusting Jesus when we don't see the miracle we are hoping for. And, you're right, it can be a powerful witness. May God help us to do this always. Bless you.
❤amen..amen..amen ❤ I do believe, help me in my unbelief ✝️
It is a beautiful prayer. We pray you will find strength in Jesus. Bless you.
An important message in these days as the environment gets more stormy and risky as our governments move to push Jesus out. Jesus might take us into the storm, or the fiery firnace, or the lion's den, or the courtroom - but he will be there with us! He can deliver us, but even if he doesn't (Daniel 3), we will trust him and remain faithful (Daniel 3 and 6; 1 Peter 3:13-17) ...then Christ will be our sanctuary/miqdas (i.e. dwelling place) - (Isaiah 8:11-15) as he was in the storm, fiery furnace, lion's den and court - and even at the time of martyrdom (Acts :54-56). Fear not!
Fear not indeed. It's a phrase we need to keep in mind when things are going well so we have there when we do end up in the furnace, the court room, etc. Bless you.
The SON of God, always and forever OBEDIENT & LOYAL to his FATHER! Came down from heaven where is lived as a glorious SPIRIT and was born of Mary as a perfect MAN, was anointed at his baptism as "God's son, the beloved" preached & taught that reconcilliation back to the Father was possible by FAITH in his RANSOM SACRFICE on our behalf. He died, was buried, & rose again. not as a man by as a might SPIRIT and was taken up to heaven to present the value of his sacrifce on our behalf, he then was given the HS which he poured out on the disciples at pentecost. He will come again, not as the man who gave up that life on the stake but in Kingdom Glory!
And we wait with longing for that final day.
@@HeathmontPresbyterianChurch Yes my friend! The last words of the bible "Come quickly Lord Jesus"! ( Rev 22) Most churches say nothing of it! I pray for it every day!
@@HeathmontPresbyterianChurch Can I ask you a question? Most 'orthodox' believers believe that 'Jesus will return to the earth in the same body he had when he died' Do you beleive that? If o how can we understand his words at the last supper "This is my body ..This is my blood whoch is to be GIVEN on your behalf"?
@@kiwihans100 It's an interesting, but not essential, question. I think most of us would say Jesus will return to earth in the same body he had when he ascended. 1 Corinthians 15:35-57 has a bit to say about the difference between earthly and heavenly bodies. It's worth reading.
@@HeathmontPresbyterianChurch Thanks, I find that Paul shows there are SPIRITUAL bodies as well as PHYSICAL. This surely doesnt mean, the same as a physical person being 'spiritually minded' or even 'having God's Spirit'. No Paul was showing that there is a SPIRIT realm, on a far higher plain than anything eartthly. Thats why he said "Flesh & blood ( the physical body) cannot inherit God's Kingdom ( a sprit realm). Also Acts 1 is clear that the disciples 'saw' Jesus ascend to heaven and dissapear in a cloud". The angels said that he would "Return int the same MANNER, NOT form! different words! Anyway the 'body' they saw was NOT the same beaten, blooded and bruised corpse that DIED as a sacrifice for our sins! Jesus said at the last supper "This is is my BODY whichis to be GIVEN in your behalf" ( the bread!). He obviously MATERIALISED DIFFERENT 'bodies' ( as spirit persons had done before see Gen 18,19) His close disciples didnt even recognise him at close quarters!). See Matt 20:28 "The Son of man came...to minister and to give his soul ( 'phsyke) as a RANSOM in EXCHANGE for many!
But yall believe in Leviticus 20:13
We also believe in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. Verse 11 gives us great hope.

I think about Jesus and the criticism he got for eating and drinking with sinners. May we all have his courage.

Note how some translations render Philippians 2:6: New American Standard Bible: "did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped" English Standard Version: "did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped" Good News Bible: "he did not think that by force he should try to become equal with God" The Greek noun "harpagmos" in Philippians 2:6 comes from the verb "harpazo", which means "robbery", "seizure", "prize to be grasped". It means taking or seizing something that does not belong to you. While in heaven before becoming a man, Jesus never considered usurping God's authority in order to become equal to him. Rather, he was humble and obedient. If it were true that Jesus possessed equality with God before becoming a man, why does Philippians 2:9 say that after his resurrection, God exalted him to an even higher position?
Good question. I've always taken that verse to show the comparison of Jesus as described in 2:7-9 and a restoration to his place with the Father. It's interesting that v11 ends with 'to the glory of God the Father'. All praise and all worship ends up here. (Matt 5:16). Thanks for asking.
The word 'harpogamos' means to 'snatch' to 'seize' to 'grab'. How on earth can people believe that Paul would have used this word to describe Jesus 'holding on with a sort of stubboness to a position of equality with his Father! Paul was showing a CONTRAST with the way some humans try and 'seize power' and the way God's sone humbly obeyed his Father's request to be "sent forth" as he told Nicodemas! ( John 3:17)
@@kiwihans100 Here's something that I find helpful. I'm' quoting here from Gerald Hawthorne - C.F.D. Moule argues convincingly that 'harpogamos' refers rather to the act of snatching, to acquisitiveness. "Jesus did not reckon equality with God meant snatching, rather he emptied himself." Human evaluation may assume "that God-likeness means having your own way, getting what you want, (but) Jesus saw God-likeness essentially as giving and spending oneself out". He did not consider that being equal with God was taking everything to himself, but giving everything for the sake of others. This meaning for 'harpogamos' best fits the context here. I hope you find this helpful too.
@@HeathmontPresbyterianChurch Thanks. An interesting theory! Of course its confusing to the truth seeker to consider the various explanations put forth of the meaning of a word that occurs, I think only once in the NT! However Since there is a diametric difference between translators of Verse 5, I feel to understand Paul's reason for phrasing this sentance the way he did is to examine both the context and the other statements Paul made in this and other epistles, would you agree? Thus to me, Paul clarifies his intent in verse 11 "And that every toungue should confess that Jesus is Lord, to thr Glory of God thr Father". As a Jew Paul was devoted to the 'Shema' which extols the uniqueneness of the Creator, Almighty God. he understood clearly the relationship of God & Jesus at 1 Cor 8:6. There he states that to "us" there is ONE God the Father, and one Lord Jesus Christ ( similar usage of '|God' & 'Lord' at Phil 2:11!) Paul states that "all things" came OUT OF the Father, though 'through' the Son. Thus to me Phil 2 is clear. The Son, rather than attempt to 'seize' power & equality from his Father did in fact the OPPOSITE!
I’ve heard some stupid things but this is about the most stupid ever : Jesus was just having a bit of friendly banter!!!!
Thanks for watching this one. As noted, this is what some have suggested, but not all. Bless you.
