TMMW#45 - California Fires: Real Stories of Compassion and the Power of Community
This week’s episode of This Made My Week is about resilience, compassion, and finding hope even in the darkest of times. In the wake of the devastating California fires, I’m highlighting the incredible helpers who remind us of the true wealth of community care: organizations like World Central Kitchen, EmergencyRV, Planet Fitness, GoodRx, All Power Books, and more. Their efforts showcase how acts of kindness and unity can spark healing.
I also open up about a personal moment from this past weekend-attending the funeral. Reflecting on life and death has shifted my perspective, helping me overcome fear and embrace the beauty of the present. Death is a profound teacher, and through its acceptance, I’ve discovered a deeper love for life and an immense gratitude for my relationships.
Join me as I explore what it means to hold space for others in times of pain, find the helpers in tragedy, and embrace life’s fleeting, precious moments. Watch now and be inspired to love deeper, live fuller, and be a beacon of hope. 🌟

Dating someone long distance and realized I have insecurities about photos? Kinda silly but very telling hehe so I will own it, flaws and all.
Thank you for highlighting all of these beautiful, powerful humans and organizations. It's so valuable to see all the love pouring out of people during such a difficult time. I appreciate you taking the time to compile all of these and share!
Thanks, Katie! It not only makes my week to witness goodness , but also I feel responsibility to be mindful about businesses that align with my values. Taking the time to see who is doing what, helps me to live in integrity. Good thing there are so many options to choose from! ❤️✨
After watching this, what’s one small way you feel inspired to help someone else today? Let’s brainstorm simple acts of kindness in the comments. AND don’t forget to check out the amazing helpers highlighted in this episode - they remind us that true wealth lies in the well-being of our community! ✨
And everyone is mixed, you too are mixed. I can tell by your solid white skin color, fuller lips, shorter nose, bigger eyes, etc. No one is pure, everyone is mixed. True white people have a translucent white skin color, where the red blood shows through it, giving a pink complexion, this is why the Arabs called white people "reddish people", and they were also called ruddy. But whites have mixed with colored people throughout the centuries, so they have now developed this solid white color, with shorter noses, fuller lips, etc. But true white people have long noses, thin lips, smaller close together eyes, and translucent white skin, which gives a pink color, due to the red blood that shows through it, fact.
People tan to change their skin, to make it darker. And people curl their straight hair also, they always have to put a curl or wave in their hair, they never just want to wear it straight. It goes both ways.
No need to be afraid or sad that Donald Trump will be the president. Kamala Harris has no experience, but being a California senator and attorney. California is in dire straits because of the liberal policies they make. Don’t believe what the liberal media says.
Before the invention of mirrors, people probably didn't have insecurities.
Such useful references and information Vita. Always learn so much from your videos.
I'm so glad! Thank you for sharing, Leong 🫶
Thanks for another great inspirational video! Happy new year friend. ❤😊
Thank you so much! 🫶 And happy new year! ✨
What’s your relationship with New Year’s resolutions? Do you dive right in, or do you prefer to ease into the year? Let me know what this season means for you! I’d love to hear your reflections in the comments 🫶
Ty❤ I am tired of owning anything negative people say about my looks. I want to feel confident the way I am. I hold on to the negative. Especially aging. And I know within it isn't about me. I am what I am. I am aging gracefully and age is denied to so many. So I am trying to find that trigger of why.
What a beautiful comment, thank you for sharing. "I am what I am." 🫶
This is such a wonderful guest and conversation. So inspiring to hear of such initiatives. Keep up the good work Vita.
Thank you, Leong! It is truly my joy to get to know people like Steven, yourself and many others who are doing incredible things in the world! ✨🫶
I enjoyed watching your first vlog, I’ll be waiting for the next one.❤️🫶🏻 I think sluggish days are just as necessary as active days. Considering the Lithuanian climate and sometimes physically or even emotionally unnoticeable stress before the holidays, it's normal for us to feel sluggish, also I think it's important to experience all feelings in life, even the not-so-good ones. 🙌🏻😵💫
Thank you Gerda! 🫶✨ Yes, I loved my sluggish days during this break! I slept so much and fully enjoyed couch potato mode 😅
What an incredible way to start the year! Steven’s story is proof that passion and kindness can truly change lives. 💙 What’s something you love doing that could make a positive impact on others? Let me know in the comments-I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Great vlog. It is so nice to have a date night or whole date day with your spouse. And kids and grandparents also benefit from the whole day together too. The restaurant looked fantastic, I wanted to be there. :) The fun thing about vlogging is these are places and outing you are going to anyways. Or sometimes they encourage you to try to find new places you may not venture out too. I will say I was so nervous in the car scenes where you were turning to talk to the camera. You can look ahead or forward and it would be like you are talking that person or us in the passenger seat. Safety first. I know it is a habit of filming videos. And my final thought is yes music is playing almost everywhere. I often have to talk before or after the film segment and like you, add my own music from whatever service you use. I use Epidemic Sound. I’m looking forward to seeing more vlogs whenever you feel like it.
Thank you, Tara! Perhaps next time you're in Europe, I'll take you to that restaurant! :) And YES to safe driving! You're right, I should be more careful and keep my eyes in the road at all times. Bad habit... I checked Epidemic Sound in the past but for some reason they didn't take my card. I'll check them out again and see if there are any changes.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my vlog! Before I started filming, I didn’t know it would be so fun! How are you spending this weird time in between holidays? Have any tips how to overcome this sluggish state?! ✨
I feel for Americans who poor so much of themselves into politics.. so sad.
The more we are afraid to look inward, the more we focus on the outside world ❤️🩹 I used to hyper-focus on celebrity culture so I understand this strong pull to keep consuming, be a part of the conversation. It’s painful thought, so distracting from our essence and our own power. I feel for anyone who gives this much of their energy just to benefit others too.
Yes!! Love this message. Stillness and connecting to nature....THIS is where it's at! Happy Solstice!
That’s it! The most difficult part is not to over complicate things, when our culture (and ego) wants us to keep making more noise. All is well, one breath at the time 🫶✨
Such a wonderful conversation between two inspiring people!!
Thank you, Katie! 🫶
What’s one unexpected gift this season has brought you? 🎁Share what made your week/season below-I’d love to hear from you! 🫶 Happy Holidays! ✨
Sun bunnies?! What a joyful name! Also going to have to buy that book as a gift for some people (including myself🙈) Thank you! ☺️
Isn’t it?! 🐰☀️ I’m sure the book will make your day/week/month/year! 🥰

Hello Didi .. Just want to know how to avoid mobile addiction..please help..
I feel like the only people I see get their needs met have co-dependent traits, are highly manipulative, and are heavily aggressive.
Perhaps there aren’t enough of conscious people around you?
I have a mini panic attack eveytime I look at my recycling bin. Even though the stores don't give you plastic bags anymore all the products are wrapped or contained in plastic.
Omg, same... 💔 I regularly read news about recycling to help my anxiety because luckily there's a lot of good that's happening too! So many scientific breakthroughs, discoveries that can tackle specifically plastic & paper recycling. You know what excites me even more? Cool initiatives and ideas for alternative packaging. People are so creative, omg! Did you know there are coffee shops selling coffee in edible cups? You get your coffee and a cookie, that's your mug!
I am unable to feel connected to others.
What about yourself? Can you connect to your intuition, gut feeling, heart, body?
Congrats on 2K subscribers! I am sure this is just the beginning for you because people like to hear your uplifting messages. REI’s policy on Black Friday made me proud that I wore an REI jacket today, before I watched this video. As for brain rot, I think part of me wanting to do Duolingo lessons everyday is to consume useful information and challenge myself. Happy holidays!
Thank you, Tara! Doing Duolingo is such a good idea! My Spanish lessons have been looong forgotten, I should go back and relearn everything. Yay to wearing REI's jacket! Sadly we don't have them here in Europe. Maybe it's for the best as I have an addiction to fleece jumpers... 🫠
What are your takeaways from this video?! Did it help you breath a little deeper? 😊 Let me know in the comments! And THANK YOU for your support! Yay for 2k subs!!! 🥰
Another wonderful episode Vita. Love following your energy for the week! ❤
Thank you, Leong! Your content is a big inspiration for mine 🫶
Fantastic discussion. Describing how uploading videos is like creating a “repository of love” was beautiful. I also love the idea about how the person can be seen by loved ones and future generations. I like how Leong described how kids at play can be in sync so quickly and change rules and just be in the moment. And how he has seen this trait in very creative adults. Finally regarding AI as a tool, something very interesting happened to me and my friends this past Friday while on a Zoom call. We are on Zoom because we live in the US, France, and the Netherlands. Anyway, before the call started there was a notification that the video would be recorded by Al. Then after the talk, the host was sent a complete summary of all the topics we discussed! Human notetakers will not be required in future meetings. It was quite impressive and amazing.
Tara, those are such beautiful takeaways! Makes me want to rewatch it again to truly soak in all the wisdom Leon shared. Also, I did not know about this AI tool on Zoom, thank you for sharing! It would make my coaching sessions with clients so much easier. I'm excited and scared to see what's next in the world of AI. And like Leong said, humanity is irreplaceable.
I loved seeing how excited the hairdresser and the ladies were in those video clips. He was jumping up and down and so excited to see the results and appreciation of the women. I like to think of what I am grateful for while on a walk with my dog. Lately I am grateful for all the beautiful colored leaves. 🍁 I am grateful for your channel and your positive energy too.
Yes, it was lovely to find out about this creator @krewkutz. I used to managed aged care facilities and we always have hair salons in every facility because of the nurturing impact of hairdressing.
I'm grateful for you, Tara! I'm always excited to see your thoughtful comments and your own authentic content.
What are your key takeaways from this episode? And which practice are you ready to try?! Drop me a comment 👇
It was a pleasure and a priviledge to chat with you Vita. You project so much positivity into the online space.
Thank you, Leong, this was so fun!
There is a problem in your marriage if you won't flirt with men when your husband is around. This means that you do when he is not. Otherwise it would not come up.
Good recognition of your beliefs! So much to unpack just in this one comment. Best of luck doing self-reflection!
Let's hope trump ends the war like he said, instead of worrying because worrying won't change the outcome.
Good thinking in general. But the comparison to German soldiers was dumb. Any army is fighting really well not because of some grandiose ideas, but for the brotherhood of shared experiences. Maybe this is not female way of thinking, but for men this is definitely the only practical method to get a fighting teams... They have to get shared experiences and that's largely why the army training is about - make the unit suffer together in a training, then they will fight together.
Wow, I am shocked by the amount of angst that is totally unfounded. Republicans have run the nation for most of the past 40 years, and things for the American people are generally better during those times. Although the Russian nukes aimed at America and the $35 TRILLION national debt (that's $100,000 per person) that threatens to collapse our economy and put us at 50% unemployment are bigger issues...Trump has pledged to VETO any national abortion ban. (Please read that again) Racial minority groups voted more often for Trump than any election in the last 50 years because they did so much better during his last administration. You have been punked by the media. You are in less danger, not more. You are going to have more money, not less. You are going to have more freedom, not less. If you are in pain, then you should seriously reconsider the media sources that have lied to you about the Trump agenda. You have been victimized by the media, but you have to want to fact check your own sources on your own. Don't be intellectually lazy.
It is amazing a person as ignorant and uninformed as yourself about history and current affairs is coaching others and getting paid..Amazing......
I am a first generation American born to Lithuanian immigrants who ran from there homes in Lithuania during WW2 barely out running the blood thirsty russian advance to become refugees in post war Germany. So I have a place in my heart for Lithuania, even thou I've never been there. I belive that the current war in the Ukraine would have never happened if Trump were president. The war started because of weakness and greed of Democrats in the USA. I pray President Trump will soon end this war as promised.
nazi
There is no such word as humankind.
If trump ends the ukraine war as he has said he will do, it will save many lives. Will you feel differently about Trump then?
If he makes Putin leave Ukraine and give back ALL occupied lands, maybe I will, I don't know yet.
@@ThisMadeMyWeek To be honest - if Biden would want this war to end he would already finish it. The US has all the power it needs to make Russia do whatever they want. But Biden doesn't want Russia to lose the war.
@@ThisMadeMyWeekNot gonna happen. That would take Trump threatening to put US boots on the ground. Maybe you should advocate for Lithuanian boots. Or better yet you go fight for Ukraine.
@@lnfaith2385 Why should this put US troops on the ground?
Reality check. The people who voted for Donald Trump just set our country on fire, metaphorically speaking. Republicans are giddy about what they can now do and now get away with. They are literally going to tear our government apart, disabling it in any possible way they can - the Administrative State. Trump will issue a slew of Executive Orders that would never hold up in court, but because of his new found immunity, he will just ignore the courts. FYI, POTUS enforces Supreme Court orders. Andrew Jackson refused to enforce a SCOTUS order in the 1840's and there was nothing SCOTUS could do. The same dynamic applies now. If you have "friends" who voted for Trump, they're not your friends. You need to accept this reality. Next year will get very dark and Democrats have to stop taking the high road. A full fledged dictatorship is in the making.
Putin never would have invaded if America was respected , it was cos Biden is weak push over that Ukraine happened at all. Trump will stop the war not continue it, trump will literally save more lives helping stop the war, Biden or Harris only continued it the war mongers
Who actually wanted Kamala? A fake through and through woman who swore in the White House on Talmud and got to high positions through bed. Trump is also a zionist bootlicker and a lot of other things but this is literally the best option now, economy will be better, tons of outsiders will stop flooding your towns, your own people will get work, etc, why doomposting it's just funny af
Kamala lost....big time!!! Woo hoo! She made her bed. Lies and hypocrisy, without any clear policy was the foundation of her campaign. The people saw through her facade.
Your life is about to get better.
I wish I didn’t have emotions. I wouldn’t care about being gaslit or talked bad about. But it’s ok.
Vita, i feel your positive energy and it is actually what was needed for me today. Thank you for your content and looking forward for the next wednesday!❤🎉
Thank you so much for kind words! So glad to hear this helps 🤍🤍🤍And I’m so happy I’m not alone in this 🫶
