Awlitha d'Awoon Adam - The Bereavement of our forefather Adam - ܐܘܠܝܬܐ ܕܐܒܘܢ ܐܕܡ - Assyrian/Aramaic
Assyrian/Aramaic/Syriac Hymn
"The Bereavement of our Forefather Adam"
An ancient Christian hymn of The Holy and Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East. This hymn is sung specifically on the first Sunday of the Great Fast (Sawma Rabba) leading up the the Feast of the Resurrection (Easter).
A powerfully emotive hymn with a mournful tone which tells of the account of Adam’s fall and redemption.
In this clip, this hymn is chanted by His Grace, Bishop Mar Odisho Oraham, Bishop of The Holy and Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East.
It is worth noting that this hymn in its entirety has 22 Stanzas, one for each letter of the Assyrian alphabet, as well as a prologue.
The clip which has been uploaded is not the entire hymn, it starts with the prologue and then continues from Alap (ܐ), the first letter of the alphabet, to Waw (ܘ), the sixth letter. Then it jumps to Lamad (ܠ) the twelfth. A total of only seven stanzas from the entire twenty two.
If anyone is interested in the words to the entire Hymn, please message me and i will be more than happy to share it with you.
Please feel free to share this clip.
Finally, please remember to pray for the persecuted Church all over the world, and in particular our brothers and sisters in the Middle East, the cradle of Christianity, who are suffering for His sake.
Glory to Christ alone!
