Real winner of Eurovision 1996 right here

Das Lied ist einfach Super ❤❤❤❤❤
Das waren so schöne Zeiten...tolle Musik🥰🥰🥰
Cmon, this was way better than "i am the voice", and this didnt even qualify??? One of the most stupid qualifying rules ever.
such an underrated song
And it’s not on streaming
@@dougxvale That's not true, the song IS on Spotify!
My friend davoir says this song is absolutely pants!
Wooohoooo! 🌴
Süß ist er
96 This basically is Swiss 88 entry 24th in sf WTF
How did this not win.
Fucking Ireland had to beat this tune!! 😢❤ 🇬🇧
If only the big 4/5 existed back then…
Is there more music by Leon? He is an amazing artist, I wish I could have known more of his works

HOW. DID. THIS. NOT. QUALIFY!?!?
Because the juries were like 30 years behind music wise
@@slawof9442 But Gina G did!
Best song of esc1996
0:23-0:36 This would have fit right in with the ridiculous special effects of Eurovision 1996
turkey's mirror, iceland and portugal's black and white, the whole voting procedure, you're 100% right
@@38WestSinger Don't forget the Greek and Finnish film reels!
Someone's clearly been playing too much with their Video Toaster 4000!
Gutes lied
This would have done so well at Eurovision 1996. Just like UK 1996 & Iceland 1997, the juries were so out of touch with how popular this style of music was in the 90's.
Absolutely. Lyricwise it‘s absolutely cheesy, but the music was indeed super popular at the time. Totally mid-90s rave-y Eurodance.
I love some cheesy 90's Eurodance myself, but this is just not good. That mediocre beat is not allowed to do anything on it's own for one second after Leon starts singing and the "Planet of blue, I love you" chorus is too repetitive. It's not even so trash it's enjoyable again.
I love this song! And I also think that Leon would have made a good place at the ESC 🙁 But luckily he was selected for the OGAE Second Chance Contest 1996 and ended up third there :)
It probably would've become a bigger fan favourite, but if this qualified, it'd have been a possible last place in the contest. This is my winner, but seeing how the juries ranked modern music at the time, this would've done terribly:(
@@vdan3821 Yes, that can be -.- The juries had also treated Gina G. unfairly. The UK was therefore angry and abolished the juries in its own country the very next year and introduced televoting (Germany too).
ESC250 brought me here. This goes hard
This is why it’s the first and prob only 1996 NQ song to make it there
This happens when Germans want to be smart and stubborn! If German television had not participated in ESC 1996 as it should have been, Leon would have competed better in the decadent years of Eurovision of the 90's like 97, 98 and 99 where this type of dance and modern songs would have had greater acceptance for the time with new televoting system!
what do you have against modern germany? europe would've loved this in 1996 it was just the out of touch juries
@@deskseven But Germany had to follow the EBU rules of the 90s regarding eliminating countries by bad results, they did a mistake sending this wasted Masterpiece song to their "created" first ever semifinal thinking that they could make it in their own game, but failed! Leon could have more successful in 1998 or 1999 when Televoting was introduced.
Great tune! <3
Michael Jacksons „They don‘t care about us“ trifft auf Hanne Haller. 👍🏻
Germany and Hungary not qualifying in 1996 is a crime. I mean, how on Earth did something as atrocious as Spain or something as boring as Bosnia & Herzegovina finish ahead of these two? :(
Denmark & Hungary should have make it in ESC 1996 finals. Later the Danish song became a World Radio hit in English version ''Paint of Love''. In the case of Spain, apparently her HoD at that time, Maite Segura had bought several of the European juries so that way Spain would have a permanent presence in Eurovision year after year.
I think this song would have done better in the 1997 Eurovision than the winning German entry Zeit which I find it very boring.
Fewer BPM and this might have made the final, a bit too clubby for Eurovision but I can imagine being 20 again
Germany has its own Genre. Called happy hardcore. That fits good in it.
Some strange marking by the preselection juries. I’d replace Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovenia and either Croatia or Poland with Denmark, Germany and Israel. Germany in particular should have been up there with the modern songs from the United Kingdom, Malta and Austria.
I was in the UK preselection jury and we gave it 10 points (second place). I was very shocked when told they hadn't qualified.
@@doggdogg6019 Oh wow - it’s really cool you were able to be part of the jury! Were there any other ESC juries (for the UK presumably) you partook in?
I would first and foremost replace Spain with literally anything else. But all songs you've mentioned aren't as interesting as Germany. And I am from Croatia. Our 4th spot was slightly overstated this time. For me, Hungary and Germany in, Spain and Bosnia & Herzegovina out.
Sensationeller Titel - einfach großartig.
23 years later - still this song light up my life
In what universe do Spain and B&h qualify over this?
This should have been top 10 in Oslo. At least Spain was entertaining. There is no justification for Bosnia-Herzegovina qualifying though!!
Just watching 1996, and thinking how Germany and Hungary should have qualified instead of Spain & B&H. Bosnia was so boring, and Spain made me physically cringe. Germany, on the other hand, had a really interesting, modern song.
unfortunately, this one
Gracias a esta canción existe el Big 5
WHY EUROPE????, WHYYYYYY??????? I understand you did not like Germany put its own rules but you destroyed this GREAT SONG!!!! WHYYYYYY?????
Europe did not destroy anything, this song was Horrible to listen at first heard, even was too ahead of time! In passing, German Television paid the price for their stubbornness because they should not have participated in 1996 due to the EBU rules of relegation of previous bad results.
@@herluisalvarado8366 nope. it's not horrible. germany would've gotten in relegation-wise anyway i believe. they used the new horrible system and this wonderful song was sent to the bin barely.
@@deskseven Cause this song was too mordern for old fashioned ESC juries back in the middle of the 90's. I said that if Germany didn't participate in 1996, then they could had saved this masterpiece for 1997-1998 televoting years and coming in the Top 3 at least.
@@deskseven No they wouldn't have. From 1993-1995 the countries with the lowest results the previous got relegated, and Germany finished last in 1995. The relegation based on average number of points was used from 1997 to 2001.
He went I’ve the 3 minutes. I think that’s why 😂
Ausnahme vorher vielleicht Guildo Horn.
@@oskarwikinger930 Komischer weiße hat Gina G mit "Just a little bit" den achten Platz gemacht! Das war 96! Es wäre also damals doch möglich gewesen!
I love this music!
(www.eurovision.de/geschichte/1996-Deutscher-Vorentscheid-in-Hamburg,hamburg1041.html)
