A lot of this could just be explained by the fact that your fingers have tendons that are connected so when you close the rest of your hand, any open finger will naturally want to start closing with your other fingers. And since the rest of your hand is interlocked and in a closed position, any open finger will want to close as well. The reason it has to be the pointer is because it has only one neighboring finger. And yes the pinky does have only one close finger, and this effect also works on the pinky, its just a really awkward finger because its incredibly small so the muscles have to work harder to keep open and people dont really use their pinky like you would your pointer.
