Chinese Diesel Heater Controller operation, details for the "Other" type.
Anyone know the 3 digit PIN code for these things?
Thx so much I finally am able to set mine!!! Bought a van with one and no manuals for the heater not even a model number on it
So I've got the same control as you except when I hold the top button nothing happens and when I hold the top left and bottom left buttons alpine mode doesn't come on . Any ideas every other button works like ok power on and up and down
thanks mate for the video we just got ours working for our animals
Fantastic. Thanks for your help
Entering setup mode would be useful to know as well (ie 1688)
This model does not have that function.
Thanks
Does anyone know if you can use the older controller in place of the new 3 button one ?
Do these set between 12 and 24v?
That's one junk
Can you show how to pair remote controller, manual instructions does not work with mine.
Other controllers can set range for pump rate in Hz and fan RPM to accommodate incremental elevation change. Can this controller act similarly? How if so? What does Alpine mode do exactly? I hear pump slow, but a fixed setting can't suit 1500 AND 3000 meters. I'm getting white stinky smoke at 1500m elevation with new 2km unit -- worked fine here for a few weeks -- and seems mix is the problem. Alpine mode didn't help. HELP thx and hny.
This basic model does not have that ability.
How do you get into settings and adjust fuel to air ratio?
you cant on this model. thats what the Auto Altitude adjustment is for.. so you dont have to make adjustments
Mine the screen shuts off after a little while. Which one do I have
Thank you sir!
Trying to find a guide for the screen icons...
Thank you!
I have the same controller how do you set it from Celsius to Fahrenheit
How do you change it from Celsius to Fahrenheit I have the same controller
Thanks
Bought it, advertising told that theres a timer function wich was a must for me, but when i fired it up- no timer. Basically there are two types of controllers which look the same but one has more functions. Wondering if i can just change the remote, to get that timer i need.
Setting and up button at the same time
How do you get the burner temp up to 200 degrees. Mine only goes up to around 136 Thank
When I run mine in H6 and not Alpine mode the burner temp is around 200 degC
Love your instructions - definitely all works with our heater. However in auto mode ours just gets hotter and hotter - even when set on 14 it gets up to 25 on speed 2 or 3 and never cuts out. We have to manually turn it off then we wake up freezing and have to manually turn it on again. How do we get the thermostat to work correctly to keep the van at the set temperature ie ideally 18. The installer told us auto mode doesn’t work and to use manual mode but same issue even when on H1! Help - feel like we should have put a normal diesel heater in not a Chinese one. Anyone else have this problem?
Not sure as to why it doesnt step down to H1 speed, mine is installed in a 16ft poptop caravan and at times I need to shut it down as it gets too hot in the van as well. I have just been out in the desert where the temp outside was around 5 deg, what I was doing and it seemed to work ok was set the setpoint at 14 deg and run in Alpine mode, that seemed to keep the van at a more comfortable temp. I also in the past have had to open the jip windows in the poptop to keep it from getting too hot. They arnt a perfect heater when it comes to temperature control but it sure beats freezing.
What heater do you have this c9ntroller paired with 2kw or 5kw? Do you find the start up sequence over fuels the chamber causing it to smoke a lot but then it burns off once running?
It's a 5kw model. It smokes slightly at startup but clears pretty quickly.
That seems to be the controller that I have. Never used the remote for it, but have managed to get it to switch on and off with Alexa. It was such a simple mod that I believe that changing settings would be easy too. I just wanted to switch on from my phone, using Alexa, 20 minutes before I got home.
That sounds a brilliant mod to the heater and also very complicated, almost being a black art involving some sacrifice to the gods.
@@lezbriddon Not at all. You just need to be able to solder two small wires.
@@TheBioniXman but where do the wires go....
@@lezbriddon I documented it on one of my bike blogs, feel free. ducatistbike.wordpress.com/2023/05/28/chinese-diesel-heater-and-alexa/
Thanx man I forgot how to get back into alpine mode this vid helped
Thank you so much.
I have that one but i cant pair the remote. All others guides didnt work. Do you know how i can do it?
Push the power and down button at the same time, when something shows push on and of on the remote. Than it is paired
Hi, Have you ever gotten 3 lines and a smal v.......... like this. - - - v On this controller. Just lights up when i connect to battery and no buttons are responsive. Instead of P12 v it show the lines and v. So I can not use the heater at all. Suggestions? thanks so much.
No Tom sorry I havnt, what I will say that in a lot of instances these arnt wired up correctly which results in voltage related errors. Things like using the vehicle chassis as a return earth rather than direct connection to the battery neg, long cable runs, under sized cables and low batteries all can cause problems. These heaters need around 10amps to fire up so correct cable installation is important.
Hello mate, I've just got one and it's great, but it sounds to be running fast, so is there a way to use less fuel or is it just down to H1 -H6 and we can't "tune" it. Cheers
This model no, all you can do is run it at H1 the lowest setting. You can however run it in Alpine mode which slows the fuel pump and drops the fire box temp down to around 160deg C.
Have the same heater. Working great. I m assuming the lowest it does is the equivalent of H1 ? ie It won’t actually turn itself off if the temp exceeds the set point
Correct Ben H1 is the lowest. At times I actually have to turn mine off as it gets too hot inside the van even with the windows all open. I am thinking of buying the 2kw version and see how that goes.
I seem to have a different controller to everyone else with what seems to be a complex motherboard it has red digits on the screen but doesnt look like anything online the fan led pic only has 2 blades on it. it has a very basic 5 heat settings. d1 .d2 . d3. d4. d5. so ive ordered a new motherboard and a blue screen, hoping for more control in Hz.
Im a German Chanal for Diesel Heater
th-cam.com/video/FxzUKhDeII0/w-d-xo.html for the timer mode
do you know the 3 digit code for the advanced settings?
This model doesn't have that ability.
Any idea on how to change voltage from 12v to 24v ? Thanks
Were you able to figure this out? I haven't been able to figure it out for this specific controller and I really need to change the setting :/
@@smttn1 You need to buy a different motherboard for 24v
Here's more info on fuels I've tried in the UK spec Vevo 5kW unit, with stock settings (with the controller-new type, late 2022, without the antenna signal indicator): Best fuel, most heat, Kerosene=heating oil=jetA1=paraffin Diesel, red or standard next best Brake fluid, DOT3 diluted with 10% petrol next best Old dirty engine oil diluted 20% with unleaded petrol next best Transmission fluid/old gearbox oil diluted with 10% petrol next (but smelly) Old gunwash thinners with 10% old engine oil to give it some lube properties not very good Old petrol with 10% old engine oil, also not very good. Acetone, brake and clutch cleaner (trichloroethylene- don't breath the smoke at all) or alcohol/meths don't really work at all. With all of the hydrocarbons, it is pretty obvious that there is way too much air running through the combustion chamber, because the exhaust pipe gets really hot (wasted heat). The combustion gas is being pushed straight out of the heat exchanger. If you choke the combustion air inlet a little, while still maintaining a lean and clean burn (at max fan speed), the exhaust temp drops while the heat exchanger actually gets a lot hotter. More time for the hot combustion gases to transfer the heat into the heat sink, as the burning gas is moving slower. Oh and throw away the little fuel filter they supply, as it doesn't filter anything! Get a proper fuel filter... If anyone knows how to crack advanced settings on the new controller unit (without antenna signal indicator), please post! 👍🏻😀🇬🇧
Great post. With these alternative fuels, do you run in manual heat setting or automatic temperature. If manual what H level works best? Definitely looking into old oil and petrol/diesel mix as potential fuel. We get lots of diesel contaminated with petrol.
Thanks Fred interesting reading. I have been running mine on 10/1 Diesel/Kerosine. not sure if it helps but I will check next time I service the heater box.
This is the same firmware on my blue panel
Thank you.
I had a error 2 (high voltage warning) when I first contacted mine to a battery charger. It is brand new out of the box. I now have it on a 12v battery. But it now wont start up and keeps trying to start but then keeps shutting down again with the same error 2 message. I dont know if i should just box it back up to send it back to the dealer or has anyone got any info on how i can reset it and get it running ?
I had the same problem. I had wired thru the trailer wiring. Wired direct to battery. Solved.
Same issue for me, I've found out that due to wiring the voltage drop couldn't supply the amperage required on start up. The remedy is to make sure you've got a good battery and all connections are good and where possible reduce wiring length and use adequate amperage wiring.
@@UKvet246 I had mine running on a battery to the unit. But the cable was over 15mtrs long so kept giving me the e2 error. I now have the battery next to the heater and no more errors
@@maxv77 It should work on the tails supplied. If the leads are extended, larger cross section leads will likely be required. The black lead is short, so it is expected to be grounded to the vehicle chassis close to the unit. It will not run on a battery charger alone - the charger may not even supply any power, due to no battery voltage, or high voltage if it will charge into any voltage (generally really old chargers with little voltage and current control) The battery will hold the voltage steady, as long as the charger delivers a little more than 3A. At turn-off the battery will be charged to float voltage (14.4V for a flooded lead/acid battery, or thereabouts - but will depend on the battery chemistry). If mains power is available the battery and float charger is the best option for several reasons.
Hi guys a bit late !! But being a diesel mechanic in Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 I may be able to give some insight into what is happening. The wires thay send with the heater for the battery connection are really not adequate for the amount of amps that the glow plug needs to fully cycle. Mine came with 16 gage wire this should only be used up to a maximum of a few feet . The farther your heater is from the power source ie. Battery or ac to DC converter you need to use heavier gage wire . You can Google a chart using supplied voltage , amperage required x length of wires needed. Hope this helps. Cheers.
How many amps does it draw from the battery? And what is the minimum voltage to run it?
About 10 amps at startup and about 3 to 3.5 at full. I am running 5kW.
My 8K heater runs 8 amps for 1 minute on start up (for the glow plug to warm up) 3 amps on H6 (full heat) 1 amp on H1 0.8 amps on H1 Alpine
i finally find a controler like mine
Hi Brett how do you pair the remote? The remote that I have is the one with display
Hold the on/off button and the down button. ( for a few seconds) then the + button on the remote.
Hi did try this but still will not pair battery fine
Do you guys get e-2 error code when plugging to Bluetti power station ?
do not use the lighter output on the Bluetti
If the parameter is outside the limit for the machine, it will show the apprpriate error code. It is all in the instruction manual (or should be).
@dave himlin It will but not thru the 12 volt Jack
I was getting incredibly frustrated trying to access my heater. All other videos seemed to have the time showing on their controller. You just saved my sanity, thank you. Do you have other videos…….. time setting etc
Glad it helped
Any idea how to turn off the screen completely?
unplug or unhook your power supply.
@@thesurvivalist. A good reply. I simply remove the fuse as an alternative. If by answering ‘unplug’, you mean unplug the mains, that should not turn off the controller - untill the battery becomes exhausted.
On my controller not saw the bars of signal for the remote..any idea?
wow a video about nothing. the code please dude. 3 nulbers 😂
I wish I could find this
@@joshf2867 there aren't any codes with the new controller. It took me ages to find that out. Its just a basic on/off and temp setting. You could retrofit the after market motherboard and controller, which is suitable for 2-5kw Chinese heaters, these I think are likely to have the advanced menu as the heaters are physically different sizes so would need to be set up to the heater itself. I hope this helps a bit.
@@grimbo930charlyboy4 that’s what I figured out. I have seen where many just buy a mobo and controller from eBay so they can adjust accordingly. I live at 6,000 ft and ski at 11,000 ft. I think I will need to do this so I don’t have soot buildup
@@joshf2867 Agreed. I have ordered a generic replacement so I can make the necessary adjustments Good luck mate.
To set a timer: First make sure the heater is turned off. Push the bottom left and right buttons at the same time. Use the on off button to select which digit you want to change. There are three digits. the first two digits are the hours as in up to 24 hours and the third digit is the minutes. If it read 09.4 hours that would be 9 hours 24 min. If it read 9.3 hours that would be 9 hours and 18 min. Whatever the third digit is multiply at times six and that will be how many minutes. Then press the upper left setting button to set how long the heater will run. Above the clock symbol will be a little red “off“ symbol. Same procedure with setting the amount of time the heater will run. Push the ok button to exit this screen then push the top left and top right buttons and the clock symbol and the red on will flash. Then the timer is set.
Thank you I have watched a couple of video without getting it ,the last 2 button was missing by most of the video I have watched
I want the heater to start at 5 am every day. Then shut off at 7am and let me manual run until next morning at 5am
