The rewards aren't that great because it was kinda designed to be fought by player with iron armour and weapons but... You got there eventually Unfortunately for you, there is a boss that is inspired by the one you killed. It's basically Ferrous Wroughtnaut on steroids, trade off 60% of its defense for like 300% offensive power. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about :)

To get Mare to hunt from 40% sanity you need to turn the light on when the breaker is on. And Thaye is also an early hunting ghost than can hunt from 75% sanity if it didn't age. And Banshee has 33% chance to produce the scream through paramic.
