It isn't "really simple". It is extremely unintuitive. NOT TO MENTION this doesn't provide nearly as good an experience browsing photos as Windows. The preview process as described usually just opens images in a floating preview window that changes in size with each image, though is never fullscreen. If you want to maximize your photo to full screen, that takes an additional mouse movement and click of the tiny little expansion button at the top left, and that behavior usually then nullifies the ability to continue flipping through other photos. Or often, it will only flip through 4-6 images that are displayed on a single row in the file folder. Once the next row of images comes up, it won't continue onward. It is maddening. I am really at a loss for words about how terrible such as easy and basic activity is on Macs. They have had decades to figure this out.

When I reach the last photo on the first line, I have to use the down arrow instead of continuing to press on the right arrow like on windows, meaning to say that the right arrow stops working once you've reached the last photo in a single line. Is there a fix for this? by using down arrow, I can come to the photo immediately below that, but not on the first photo in the second line.

why do they make it so very difficult to use a Mac? I even took a memory card put of an Samsung phone and the MAC REFUSED TO RECOGNIZE THE SD Card!!!! I Had to go to a Windows computer to put the Samsung pictures on a USB Drive in order to get them into the MAC !!! PAIN IN THE ASSS

It sort of works. If you get into the full-screen mode, this method will not work. But it's already better than nothing. This is such a tiny thing that many people need; Apple should really make it work.
