Boy, do I relate. If I may, I'd like to share what helped me. I find myself starting a book/article and going back to paragraph one over and over because I feel like nothing is staying in my head. 2 things helped: first is what I can't concentrate on a book it's usually because some other issue is on my mind and it's so overwhelming that the material in the book isn't being absorbed. So I try to keep that in mind before I start. The 2nd thing that helped is reading a paragraph and writing down in the margins or in a notepad what I have just learned. If I can't write anything down - it means I wasn't present, and my mind was preoccupied with something else. I tried the audiobook trick, too, but it didn't help, unfortunately. Best!

I feel this. It's like torture, it's traumatic, and it's not just reading research papers. I recently spent 7 hours straight on a macroeconomics problem-set the day before it was due because I had to get it done, I don't know if I have ADHD but it's so hard to focus on these things. It's even worse if I get up and start moving around, for some reason thinking and jumping around feels like so much fun when I'm avoiding assignments.

Look up how to pronounce Goucher College; it's like "ouch."
