Lots of tapeworm in a wild seatrout (Why I don't eat sushi)
มุมมอง 2.6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Seatrout caught July 5th in Skøelva river in Troms, Norway by me. The fish weight 1,2 kilos and 48 cm long. Was gutted around 1 hour after it was caught and the gut was buried. I'm not an expert in tapeworms and parasites in fish, even though it's not uncommon to find in anadromous trout in this river, but it can also be found in trout stationary to freshwater. Is the fish safe to eat if it has...

Fly tying: Ephemera No. 5 - Dunkeld [Favorite flies of the North - pt. 10]
มุมมอง 3823 ปีที่แล้ว
Hello my dear viewers and fellow fly tiers. I hope everyone is doing well in these hectic holiday times, and can find time to still tie flies and watch TH-cam. It's been a while since my last video due to irl stuff, but I hopefully will have a new video out again in the near future. This one was recorded earlier this year, but took me a while to edit, and honestly I had mixed feelings about the...
Fly tying: Baetis Dun [Favorite flies of the North - pt. 9]
มุมมอง 2024 ปีที่แล้ว
The Baetis rhodani is one of the most common mayflies in Norwegian rivers. it's the Scandinavian equivalent to the Blue Wing Olive. This is a must-have imitation in any fly anglers box. This is my way of tying it. I had another video in mind that I wanted to release first, but because of a lack of time I haven't completed editing it yet. Therefore I've chosen to release this one first. Hope you...
Fly tying: March Brown Parachute [Favorite flies of the North - pt. 8]
มุมมอง 1924 ปีที่แล้ว
The March Brown is as classic as a trout fly gets. This is a slightly more modern parachute version of it. Great pattern for sunny days. I want to address that I am pretty new to making these kinds of videos, and my process is learning by doing. But, I hope you can find them educational and worth watching none the less. Lastly I want to apologize for the heavy breathing into the mic, I have now...
Fly tying: Mallard & Olive Dun [Favorite flies of the North - pt. 8]
มุมมอง 444 ปีที่แล้ว
This is one of my favorite dryflies, especially when imitating medium to small species of mayfly duns. Simple, relatively sparse and creates a nice profile on the surface for those extra picky trouts. I want to address that I am pretty new to making these kinds of videos, and my process is learning by doing. But, I hope you can find them educational and worth watching none the less. Lastly I wa...
Fly tying: Klinkhammer (variation) [Favorite flies of the North - pt. 7]
มุมมอง 1084 ปีที่แล้ว
The Klinkhammer is an old favorite among many anglers I know of, and throughout the years numerous variations has been made of Hans Von Klinken's pattern. My take on this fly is to try and replicate a hatching caddis pupae. I am sorry for a bit sloppy tying, but I can guarantee for that this fly will fool trout! I want to address that I am pretty new to making these kinds of videos, and my proc...
Fly tying: Silver Doctor - Mixed/Slip Wing [Favorite flies of the North - pt. 6]
มุมมอง 4K4 ปีที่แล้ว
First of all, this is a fishing fly, and the techniques used here is what I have discovered myself to work best for traditional, feather wing salmon flies, after a decade of fishing with them. I hope this video will inspire new tiers to give classic salmon flies a try, they are a lot of fun to tie, and as I show in this video, it's not necessary to use top quality materials to make a good fishi...
Fly tying: Faux Killer Bug [Favorite flies of the North - pt. 5]
มุมมอง 824 ปีที่แล้ว
I forgot to leave a picture in the video of the fly being wet, but you can see it here: imgur.com/vnwv16j This is a modern variation on Frank Sawyer's classic Killer Bug pattern. A very simple and effective caddis pupae imitation, that I have taken both trout, grayling, arctic char, searun trout and even Atlantic salmon on. I want to address that I am pretty new to making these kinds of videos,...
Fly tying: S&M Emerger [Favorite flies of the North - pt. 4]
มุมมอง 344 ปีที่แล้ว
This strange little emerger pattern is often good early on the season, but also in late summer and autumn this fly will produce fish. It's meant to hang fairly low in the surface, and is of course fished dead drift like any other emerger patterns. Especially good on grayling and arctic char, and can imitate both mosquito and certain mayfly emergers. Feel free to experiment with the color's to s...
Fly tying: Weasel & Quill [Favorite flies of the North - pt. 3]
มุมมอง 744 ปีที่แล้ว
The Weasel & Quill is the third fly in my little series "Favorite flies of the North". Besides the tail material this fly is pretty ordinary and straight forward. Good fly for early summer and especially in the fall. I want to address that I am pretty new to making these kinds of videos, and my process is learning by doing. But, I hope you can find them educational and worth watching none the l...
Fly tying: Aero Wing Palmer Coachman [Favorite flies of the North - pt. 2]
มุมมอง 874 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the second fly in my little series "Favorite flies of the North" and the second fly tying video I've ever made. The Aero Wing Palmer Coachman is a very simple, yet effective fly that has landed me fish all through the season. A good all-round dryfly that can imitate a lot of different bugs. Be sure to like and subscribe as it helps encourage me to do more of these videos, and tell your ...
The first day of spring
มุมมอง 484 ปีที่แล้ว
A little blurry thing from my very first fishing trip this year, this video really represent how it's like every year for me on that first trip of the season, but maybe even more so as I get older. More and hopefully less blurry videos are to come very soon. Be sure to like and subscribe as it helps encourage me to do more of these videos, and tell your fishing buddies! Thanks for watching, - K...
Fly tying: The King of Skøelva [Favorite flies of the North - pt. 1]
มุมมอง 1394 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the very first fly tying video I've ever made, so it is what it is. I hope you will enjoy this little series of Favorite flies from the North, where I will show you how I tie the flies I fish here in Norther-Norway, for salmon, trout, grayling, and arctic char. The first fly in this series is one of the first patterns I developed myself, and one that I am really proud of. To read more a...

You can get all kinds of parasites from eating raw vegetables just as well. That being said, I don’t eat sushi either.

Just came across your video on TH-cam and have to say I found it very interesting and I like something about the mixed / slip wings even though I'm a big fan of traditional married wings, yours has something about it I'm now subscribed and will check out the rest of your videos 👍

Thank you very much for the kind words! The "traditional" married wings are something I personally haven't found to be too effective in the eyes of the wild Atlantic salmon. I might share a video on this particular subject soon. Thanks very much for subscribing, it means a lot to me! Cheers!

Thank you Peter! Yes, the rod is a 11' 7wt "The Wye" from 1966, a real joy to fish with. The fly is a killer here in Northern Norway too.

Very nice fly tie. Question: for the peacock and mallard wing, did you use a left and a right slip forming a "tent" or just one wing slip? In your video it looks like just one, so confirming. Subscribed from British Columbia, Canada! Cheers!

    • @arcticriversideflyfishing3195
      @arcticriversideflyfishing3195 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Richard. Thank you very much for subscribing! Much appreciated. Yes, it is one left and one right slip of each, and I tied them in very much on top of the hook, so they were tight up against each other. Another thing I forgot to mention in my video was that I have experimented a little bit about what order I make the wing in regards to the two toppings; like tying in both toppings first, or one first, and the second one last on top, and like here where I put both on top. The outcome does make a slight difference in regards of appearance, and is a way to make the fly more yellow or brown based on that order. E. Fitzgibbon does not mention much in his book on this subject so it can be hard to know for sure what order is "correct", but frankly, I think this is open to interpretation. Just a note I thought was worth adding. Cheers!

Nice fly, however, You lost me a bit with the Kingfisher, the rest of the materials stem from animals that we kill for eating anyway, but I'll say that it would be sad if someone went out killing a Kingfisher, just to provide for people tying flies....
