Another symphony completed by the meistro Sounds great
I loved the Winnie the Pooh reference...
That engine sounds amazing, I am really happy. I wish dad was around to see it, I know he would be pleased too. Thank you for helping get my son on 2 wheels.
Great sounding BSA and I knew the timing would be closer than you expected 😉
@@ECRNGarage ... this time is was advancing too far, it's usually a bit retarded.
Sounds sweet!
Getting close, looking forward to it running
Looking good can't wait to hear it.
That cylinder did go on easily. Looking good
What a jewel,.
No need to apologize for the lack of engine rebuild video. Everyone films that but is the cycle parts that a take the time. You can bolt a head on in less time than it takes to get a chain guard straight and fitted so it clears the chain😀
The devil is in the details. And your darn good at looking after them.
Shear beauty in motion
Thanks, gonna try the rim idea on my b31 rigid rear wheel, centre should be painted anyway
Wow..the rear wheel and the badges came out great. I have some rusty rims to try this out on.. Great footage this week,Thanks.
Keep going it all has to be done and now I know a few tricks Thanks
My 70 norton had rims like that. I took off the old rubber and threw it into a bead blaster cabinet. It does fit. blasted everything, hub spokes and all. sanded the heavy spots, applied evapo rust remover over a few days. final clean with mild soap and water. apply silver paint on a rag on the pitted spots and it dont look half bad.
They are going to love it, very nice way to make it look clean.
The badges look great, the rim too, and the chain guard.
I dont remember who it is but i believe there is a guy in north Texas who will bore cases for roller bearings on crank, i had an old 750 that had wore out crank brgs & was looking at fixing them but someone offered to buy it & i was moving so i sold it instead.
nice bike
Hi there, great stuff. My 70 Firebird has the 2 conrod oil holes. There was a guy from the BSA factory that specialised in A65s not far from me. I asked for new conrod bolts but he asked to see the old ones and he had a quick check and he wouldn't sell me them. He had never put new bolts in if they were BSA, in all the 40 years he never saw one break except pattern ones. He had some nos ones but would only replace damaged ones. All the best Pat W
Great Bruce! I’m feeling inspired!
As an avid watcher of both yours and Paul's channel, he also has a tip of using a Ford tractor bushing to replace the timing side bush on a BSA unit motor.
Yes, I think I saw that one! :)
When you rev it a bit you can see the engine rocking in the frame. Maybe engine bolt needs tightening. Lovely bike and sounds real sweet!
LOL! Isolastic mounts doing their job. The entire engine, swing arm and drive train are isolated from the rest of the frame by rubber mounts. ;)
What kind of fork gaters are those. I orderd the 69 gaters from Andover but they are big on the top. I probably could have something made up like a split collar to fill the gap. beautiful build.
@@peterrestaino7047They are gaiters made for the later models... there very vetsitile in that they'll fit just about anything. The offshore ones (Emgo) look nice and the price is good, but they don't last long. The British made ones cost more, but you don't need to replace them every year.
@@brucegoldsmith3721 thanks Bruce
Deserves the correct silencers really. The downpipe angle is so panniers can be fitted more easily. I think the mounting plates for the silencers are also exclusive to facilitate the above.
That is an awesome job you have done, thanks for sharing it with us. I love the sound those pipes make, and the job painting you did is incredible and has giving me thoughts of trying it myself. If I may ask, what primer did you use? I have looked up the paint and clear coat just not sure on the primer. Thanks again and keep up the great work with the videos
Thanks! It's a good quality automotive etching primer...a two part epoxy primer would have been good to use as well.
I got my basket 1970 S way before you and its still in pieces but coming along. 1000 dollars to buy it 5000 grand in parts and incidentals and a little more to spend yikes.
@peterrestaino7047 5000 grand? So 5 million? Wow! ;-)
@@TornadoCAN99 Its only paper IOU nothings so I guess its a good deal besides its like going to Norton Commando school and tuition is expensive
Very sweet looking/sounding machine. Being able to return this bike back to service from where it was a year ago only adds to the satisfaction you must have now!
Great job, how many cans do you use in this process?? I think I may give it a try and see how I do. Thanks for your videos.
I used one can of the silver, two of the red candy and two of the 2k clearcoat.
@@brucegoldsmith3721 Thank you for your time.
You've got 350 exhaust down pipes on there, which are a smaller bore than the 500, great looking bike though.
Worked your magic again Bruce!
If I owned that bike, you couldn't keep my ass off of it!!!!!! Great restoration!!¡!
how much cc was it good sir?
@@soviethog7874 ....750 yes, all good.
What wax do you apply to chrome/alloy and how do you apply it?
@@alansivkoff282 ... Mothers California Gold paste wax. Cotton cloth to apply, another clean cotton rag to buff and a leather chammy to finish it off.
My Dad has a Panther I grew up with… has a Girard sidecar. We’d go to vintage rides and rallies all the time. Those Dowty air forks were so unreliable my job was to carry a little hand pump, when he gave me the thumbs down sign I’d slide open the window of the sidecar, reach out, spin the pump on the schrader valve and give some pumps to fill pressure them back up!
In the early sixties the smiths instruments had screw on bezels!
Beautiful bikes
That's quiet the old model U got there man. which one is it?
It belongs to a friend...1969 Interceptor 750. :)
@@brucegoldsmith3721 just love interceptor
I bought my MKIII 850 aged 18 in 1977 & I still have it. My previous 750 went like the clappers, but the 850 was a long legged cruiser.
A bit late to the party but hi from Cambridge UK. I’m buying one of these when I find the right one with the express purpose of clocking up some serious miles around Europe. I decided on a T100 for the ease of maintenance on the roadside. I agree with your assertion that this is possibly the best package to leave the Meriden works. Thanks for the video. 👍
no money, but I want one, so please give one, just want to drive
Sounds good so start riding her
❤
❤
How about the epilogue is you riding it from Margaree up the French Mountain and back?
Who knows... maybe next year!
Any taly of cost would be interesting to see.
Well...a few days ago I did do a quick tally on parts, paint and supplies... it's not much more than an educated guess, but I think that it came to somewhere in the neighbourhood of $4500.00 - $5000.00. I expected it to be quite a bit more, but I saved a lot of money on not having to purchase new rims and spokes and not having to have any machining done on the cylinders or crank.
Your doing a fantastic job.😀
You get a Zero Defects award!
Lol! Thanks, I'm still waiting for something, but so far, so good!
Such wonderful bikes remember as a kid the police using them and also seeing the last mk111 interstates for sale in local dealers window enjoy it fella
Your duct tape trick is genius. Where do you source that type of tape?
Thanks! Most hardware stores carry it.
