How to Enhance Your Uninspired Drum Solo
Try making your own melody in your head based on an experience or a feeling and then improvise a drum solo/part over it. This will not only fuel your creativity, but it is also a great exercise for improvisation. I put a metronome on 120 bpm to keep time, so you can treat this as an exercise in multiple things all at the same time. It's also just fun af...

It's been a bit, here's a video about creating drum grooves/parts through improvisation. This is a method I use a lot when I want to create an interesting groove, or something that fits in a specific part of a song. Don't be afraid to do some wild shit, it's called creating for a reason so be creative #influencer #drumguru (just an fyi those hashtags are jokes in case you think I'm a douche, an...

Zildjian Reflexx Pad Unboxing & First Impressions
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
One thing I forgot to mention is that the pad used to just be the "Reflexx Pad". Reflexx and the Reflexx pad was founded and designed by Guy Licatta. Later on they partnered with Zildjian to basically just put the Zildjian name on top and to have Zildjian produce the pads in their factory (I'm pretty sure). Reflexx now is working on new products with the massive wad of cash they probably reciev...
Dave Weckl "Got A Match?" Drum Beat Lesson

I swear every time I edit a video I'm like "wow, I could have done this so much better", but after recording this three times, this is the best y'all will get lol. So here's the groove to Chick Corea Elektric Band's "Got A Match?" which is played by the legendary drummer Dave Weckl. This is quite a complex groove, but I hope I explained it in a way that can be understood by most if not all drum...

Check out Gary Chaffee's 'Stickings" book- that pattern is what he calls 7A.
Great video! Thank you sir! 🥁🙏
can you place the transcription somewhere that isn’t blocked by the youtube shorts UI lol
I spent the first minute of this vid thinking 'when is this **** advert going to finish? Why can't I skip?!!
its on sale rn for 50, guys worth it
❤❤❤Wery well!❤❤❤
Groovin!🔥
Very nice but I can’t deny my Black Beauty with die-cast top hoop and a triple-flange bottom hoop, pure sound snare wires and an Evans Heavy Weight head. 🥰
I have to take a break because feel so tired from practicing every day from years,i will stop for 4 or 5 days
Want them or big apple. Or maybe even sahra but istanbul mehmet. Why it so hard to decide
I can't read the sheet because of the Vid info lol
Very nice ~~~~~~!!!!!!!
Thankyou bud, just got the book, pretty new to reading, this is a great ice breaker
I wish I had seen this video earlier. I started drumming lessons around 7 months ago. I can already play a heck ton of songs with the grooves I've learned so far... But recently, I think I've hit a wall where I'm stuck playing the same grooves, techniques, songs over and over again, which makes me feel like I'm not learning at all. I practice a little over an hour on my E-kit daily and lately, I've felt I haven't only hit Diminishing Return phase, but the Negative Return. I was feeling like my speed on BPM was getting worse and my mind was just getting too heavy without a break. I was pushing myself on burnout and just getting super frustrated while playing instead of having actual fun. Now that I understand breaks are essential to improve on your speed and the way you play, I'll try to give myself a few days break so I can come back fresh to play it! Thank you for the well-made video and how to show us not only beginners like myself but people who play the drums for years now that breaks are necessary and you shouldn't feel guilty for giving you muscles a rest. Cheers!
I'm glad I could help. rests are necessary in every single profession, we get burnt out. Another thing to try would be to spice up your routine. Our bodies naturally get used to routine and halt growing at a certain point. Try harder songs and different exercises/rudiments. Even different genres will help. Welcome to the most rewarding and fun journeys one could be a part of 🤙
Nice exercise, although it actually sounded better on the pad than on the kit!
I have one question, when studying the syncopation rhythm book, can I write the ostinato over the notes, and read the entire staff while studying? Or is the idea to play the ostinato from memory while reading and playing the rhythm? It's because if I don't write the ostinato I won't be able to play everything together.... I tried it and I'm not getting it. I'm still at the beginning of learning the drums. More videos like this please :) This is a very important topic that I didn't cover in this way in my drum classes. And more videos of subdivisions; rudiments and their application to the entire kit; improvisation :)) Good video, thank you, help a lot.
It's definitely okay to write it out if you can't get it. I did this with a lot of things as I progressed. In fact I did it the other day when I couldn't figure out the ending of Dramamine by Modest Mouse as it's in a complex time signature. By doing this you will be closer to being able to do it from memory. It will help your brain understand how things fit into this ostinato. I would however down the line start to stray from it and see if you can start to get new exercises without reading the ostinato notation. I hope this helps.
Very Groovy!
Damn it I thought I was happy with my K 14 hi hats but turns out this is the sound I want, with the demo that sounded kind of like tycho 😅
They're tasty dude. Definitely try them out, super unique sounding I love em. Never heard of Tycho I'll have to check it out 🤙
I'm like Dave grohl on the drums. Can't read the sheet music, but can play almost anything with a little bit of practice.
I am trying to decide between this & the Stewart Copeland signature. They both sound incredible...
Can't go wrong with either 🤙
Can ya teach Matt Cameron? 😅😂… love him. But he’s never played it correctly
Hahaha, lemme call him up real quick...
Awesome!
Excellent work !
Thank you!
Yes! Great video man. I ordered this exact snare from Cymbal Fusion. Super excited to ck it out!
Sounds heavily influenced from David Garibaldis groove in Soul Vaccination! Super rad but frustrating as hell.
That song is incredible. Never tried to learn the groove though. Sounds frustrating
@@TomPompei It is extremely frustrating! BUT considering you can nail grooves such as this, it shouldn’t be too difficult for you to get down. I’d love to see a video on it if you’d be down to give it a try!
Heya! David Abbruzzese here... I enjoy seeing and hearing other drummers versions of my work. Thank you. 🫵😊
Hey David! Thanks so much, it's an honor having you comment haha. I didn't even know it was you who tracked Vs. until someone pointed it out here in the comments. Very creative and groovy parts! I grew up listening to your drumming without even knowing so thank you for that sir. 🤙🙏🔥
Not to mention the absurd amount I listened to Vitalogy as well, so thanks again my friend 👏
Dam son!
🤙🙏
These are great sounding hats, so I ordered a set and I’m getting them in a couple of days. I can’t wait! Thanks for the demo.
Glad to hear it. You won't be disappointed 🤙🔥
I’m having an issue with it, can’t seem to be consistent with it. Could it be the way I have it set up or the fact that I’m playing it on an e kit? Cause I’ve never had this issue before
Id say this might be a Set um issue since on a Double Pedal you Play on one Pad/bass drum. Have you had more consistent results with other pedals?
Am I the only one who just hears the talk about a, e's, and ands as background noise and is just waiting for the groove so they can understand it? Like man, if I was jamming with someone and they gave me a spiel about how to play that groove vs just playing it on Spotify for 2 seconds... And this is coming from someone classically trained in counting and all. Idk if I'm just crazy or what but at this point the feel seems more useful than notation
No, I actually agree with you. It's partly why I stopped doing these videos. For some reason the algorithm likes talking over clips with subtitles, maybe it's the attention span of the youth. I changed the philosophy of my channel as I don't want to get popular solely based on short clips that don't really have any depth or impact. I will say I learned this groove by just listening to the song. However, not everyone learns the same, some people need the e's +'s and a's. Regardless I think it's way too cramped to teach a advanced beat like this in under 60 seconds, it doesn't really give it the space it deserves. That's why I'm done doing shorts like that, even if it means less clicks and subs.
You can adjust the bar so the pedal is further out (or shorter in with a new bar).
\m/
That basically how a drumroll works!❤
Boss keep it up, this was awesome!!
Lots of talking
No one asked
Yussef dayes is one of my favourite artists his album with Tom Misch is revolutionary for the evolution of modern UK Jazz as well as his work with Kamall Williams. The London jazz movement has never been more exciting with artists like 'Alfa Mist, Oscar Jerome and Kokoroko.
Theres this one single hes got with Alfa "Blacked Out" and something about that track is just a bit different than all the rest, its more like dnb i wanna say i really like it and wish they made a whole album of that shit
That intro🔥👏😂
Yessss this snare is great. Whenever. I get an urge to buy another snare I stop myself since I honestly don't think you can get better than this. Obviously it's all subjective, however, I don't think sensitivity wise you'll get much better
Your kit sounds fantastic, what is it please!!
Thanks! It's a Ludwig Signet 105 Gigabeat. It is a nice kit, but a lot of the sound comes from decent heads and good tuning. There's much better made kits on the market, tuning does a lot
That high tuning reminds me of the Tommy The Cat intro 😊
I fucking love Primus
Niceeee. Still liking these? I just snagged a set for 380 which I think was a pretty good buy. Considering I have 14” New Beats, A Customs and Paiste Innovations I feel it will be nice to add a bit of warmth and darker texture when the mood strikes. IMO hi hats are one of the quickest ways to change the sound and feel of a kit
Yeah dude they're insane! Big fan. 100% agree, hats can totally change the vibe

One of the best brass snares
I'm just a beginner drummer. I'm learning on a Tama Imperialstar. I think it's a great for a newbie like myself but the pedal it came with is the cheapest Tama makes. I'm not saying it's bad (I suck right now at playing tho lol) but I'm thinking about upgrading to a pedal that I'll be using for years and years to come. Does that makes sense or am I just wasting money on something I don't need? Btw a single pedal. You double pedal guys are insane 😂
If you have the money for it then it can be worth it. I've used some pretty bad pedals that restrict playing. You could get the tama speed cobra single 310 and it's actually relatively cheap. Maybe run you $130-140. It's a nice pedal especially for a beginner!
@@TomPompei I actually bought the SC 910 on reverb yesterday for $220.
Oh well that's awesome. You'll love it, and if not then I'm sorry I recommended it 😅
Lmfao why did some guy in the comments get pressed abt the coffee in the comments 😭. In all seriousness Great snare and great review! Do you think it could work for lighter jazz, perhaps with a quintet? (Stand up bass, no amps)
Lol I know, bro took it personally. Thanks a lot! Yeah It could definitely work, there's probably snares that are better suited for it, but honestly this snare is so versatile, I feel like it could fit in just about every setting if you tune it well and mute/unmute when needed
Okay I really dig that last fill you did
Your explaining isnt very clear tbh
The book is not not boring as you stated. The exercise you referred to on page 38 may or may not be correct, it depends on what edition of the book.
