Life in Eight Days with Grand Canyon Expeditions
I created a video from footage I shot on a trip in April 2019 with Grand Canyon Expeditions out of Kanab, Utah. Shot from a guest's perspective. Hope you like it.

It's not for nothing that you're advised to check the weather forecast before venturing to certain locations in Zion! If only everyone took that advice!
serious water
Just mother nature doing her thing, She doesnt stop for Humans.
When you see the volume of water flowing off the rocks, you can understand how these flash floods kill so easily!
Children under the age of seven years old...should probably not be allowed in. Not unless they're good swimmers.
Awesome footage. Thanks
Thank you for posting this. I'm taking an 8 day trip with GCE in late August, and this was a terrific preview. I also want to document the whole thing. Can you tell me what gear you used? How many battery packs, memory cards? Did you just use the built-in mic? Was it all handheld or did you have mounting straps for the rapids sections? Did you shoot all day or very judiciously? I just bought a GoPro Hero 9, one SD card and one powerbank so far. I don't want to over or under do it. Thank you in advance, for any advice or tips.
I’m bringing similar gear on my trip, I think it should work.

Хороша природа,
Its amazing how powerful and suddenly these happen
Thanks for the video. What time of year was this trip?

April, 2019
Dangerously beutifull
That looks like the trail to the Emerald pools.
T minus 7 days
You picked a good spot to wait it out.
Pretty cool seeing all that water in the middle of the Utah desert.
Amazing footage. Thank you for posting.
The first people to live in that cave probably witnessed exactly the same sight 1000's of years ago.
Incredible!
WOW
Amazing video good thing that you had a place to stay safe! Thank you for sharing this awesome video😁👍💕
Can you imagine what the constant weathering does to the hiking trails? A chain fail or a rock fall could happen anytime. It inevitably will.
Excellent video! Thank you for sharing!
This is my home. Poor frogs.
I know right? I love the canyon tree frogs in Zion 😞
@@KayentaRojo Dude.. In 1991, I hiked Pine Creek. No regulations, no tourists, just my friends. There was a water pool with more frogs(and tadpoles) than you could count. Cheers.
@@reidellis1988 What is it like now, 31 years on?
@@vk2ig you have to get a permit to hike Pine Creek. Its crowded af. Like Disneyland now. It sucks.
Southern Utah's Monsoon Season is not a good time to visit Zion
IDIOTS!!!
I do not understand. Is the flooded creek where the trail is supposed to be? Is it normally totally dry? How did you get (out) home that day?
JohnGrit JohnGrit The overlook trail is what he’s on and it follows the creek until they split off. The creek is very deep and narrow and your not allowed to go down in it.
Ahh. That's not true. I hike up pine creek all the time. You have to access it from a point that tourists don't know.
Thats not checking the weather before you go
You may have noticed that I am not anywhere near being in danger from this flash. That's because I know what I am doing. But thanks for your insightful comment.
Wow! Thanks for sharing.
Wow awesome! 😊
Been there and seen it back in 1990
Good video!!!
Great job Otis!
Hi Scott, Thanks! That should not be a problem. What needs to be done?
I work for a TV show called "Rock the Park" on the CW network. It's about National Parks, including Zion and we are interested in getting your permission to use some of your footage (with credit, of course) Thanks and great work!
Beautiful impression!!!
Very nice. You did a great job filming.
I was in Mystery Canyon that day. My group exited the narrows minutes before the storm hit. I know at least two people were in Spry when it flashed. Amazingly, they got out.
Amazing. I've been on the overlook trail many times but have never seen anything like this!
Hi. What camera were you using here?
What program did you use to stabilize the video image?
Very cool.
crazy beans!
