First time at the track (new favourite) took me the weekend to start feeling comfortable after starting with a very loose car. Happy with getting sub 2mins but easily another 2s+ available in this car.

80MPH Brands Hatch Track Day Crash - Clio 200
มุมมอง 226Kปีที่แล้ว
Brands Hatch January 2023, I think it needs to be seen to show just how easily/quickly things can go wrong. Find it hard not to cringe watching as you can clearly hear me being way to greedy on the throttle before the apex, diff pulls the rear and it was just too little too late on the correction. Onto the grass and it was then damage limitation, 80 mph into the barrier, I was expecting a big h...

750MC Hot Hatch - Snetterton - 01/10/22
มุมมอง 5502 ปีที่แล้ว
Brilliant racing at Snetterton with the 750 motor club this weekend, entered as class B although the Saxo is just over the limit for C at 152BHP/T (145 limit vs 175 for B) Qualifying was early with a damp track and almost no grip in some places, tricky to get any heat into anything meant I had a few moments including entering T1 backwards.. Race 1 saw a chaotic start with an incident on T4 and ...

Amazing but very hot day at Brands Hatch GP yesterday with @classicandmodernsouth. Reaching 36 outside and approximately 110 inside the tin can saxo but wasn’t going to say no to the GP circuit! Only ever done roughly 20 laps on this format ~5yrs ago so qually was a quick learning experience as we only had 15 minutes. Mixing with the super saloons always makes things interesting as many have 4x...

Great day with Cooksport at Castle Combe yesterday (until my alternator failed) New knock sensor has unlocked some extra horsepower with the car feeling a lot more urgent at the lower end. New upgraded rear top mounts has also made a massive difference with the car feeling super nimble through the mid corner and the ability to actually get it turned in on the brakes. Had some fun with a 1*2 wit...

Awesome evening yesterday at Brands, car felt great. Interestingly the roll cage has introduced a bit of understeer on the front, after upping the damping and bumping the pressures to 35 on the rear I started to get some more rotation. Sadly ran out of time as I would have liked to have tried a bit stiffer on the rear, might need to try some more toe out as well. With Brands being so technical ...

Only managed 12 laps before my clutch master started failing however took my PB by nearly 7 tenths as things just started to get up to temperature. Easily another second to find on this time, aiming for the low 1:30's before the end of the year, with the right driver I think this can go sub 1:30... Fantastic day at Silverstone Int with the CMMCS and BRSCC, first time racing and first time ever at Silverstone made it very interesting! This video is of Race 2 where I started at the back due to a fuel pump failure in Race 1, great fun trying to get back to where I qualified. Qualifying - P12/22 (1:22.843) Race One - started P12 - DNF (1:22.388) Race Two - started P19 - finished P11 (1:20.744)
That made me think: Ok, you can have fun on a track with your daily stock car, BUT if you drive seriously for time and try to compete... Build yourself a track car, otherwise there's a chance you won't be able to compete the other day.
I am happy you are safe and well, but knowing the Clio is it one of the worst handling cars I have yet to drive. Very tail happy, and not stable.
I was watching the track as he drove and at the point of the accident it looked like the track went round to the left but he needed to carry off to the right. Was this the cause
Nice driving Liam - good to see another Clio going (last video I saw of yours was your Brands one...)
@@pintsizedpistons thanks mate, yeah I think I know the one 😅
that was a crazy lap 🔥all so you should put a pic of your car as your youtube profile picture
you should upload a profile pic of you in your car or something for your TH-cam channel and that was some good racing
Although it might seem superflous before we suddenly need them, fitting a roll cage, wearing gloves and using resistant clothing are good ideas for anyone regularly having fun at track days. Without them, it's a good idea to go a bit easier on the limits.
Yaris driver probably cools off his differential(s)
Expensive day out
cheap lesson
If there was ever an advertisement for a roll cage... 🤯 Glad you were ok 🙏🏼
What exhaust setup, sounds sweet?

For me this is probably the nost scary track crash video I've seen. I can't see the error you made or even hear or see any indication before the car loses traction. Was there a gripper diff in the car by any chance? Maybe that wasnt set up correctly?
@@hcfybguctugdhu5223 yeah gripper diff which I am still using on the rebuilt car with no issues. The tyres where past their best especially the rears. I had also had the rear beam off the week before so it was potentially misaligned / excessive toe out on the drivers side although hard to tell after the impact (also now on the rebuilt car)
Surely anyone with aspirations to drive quickly on track should know how to heel and toe.
Fookmylife....
Brutal. I would have said that the only way out of that was to keep the throttle pinned.... but that was coming around regardless! Good to see the safety gear doing its job 👌
Was that gas leaking?
The knowledge on folding your arms and calmness was amazing, congrats.
This is why we have safety gear and roll cage.
What on earth is in the Ford Ka!! Turbo something surely
No turbo allowed in this series, it’s a 2.4ltr duratec I believe (class above)
Clean asf, nice lap.
Its always good to get yourself some sim equipment and a decent game and learn the tracks, Surtees is a dangerous curve amount of times ive messed up on there in the sim is crazy. Glad youre okay!
What exactly caused the car to rotate so much? It looked so subtle
Rollcage did it's job
Did he think the turn went left?
What could he have done to save this:
I love this video. Driver is clearly no idiot as evidenced by the initial 30 seconds of driving, an honest and accurate self assessment of the error leading to the crash, text book procedure for surviving a crash unscathed, all the safety gear is in place and does its job and still able to open the door to exit. The fuel is scary as hell but it could have been so much worse. 10/10
Wow.. was expecting to see some amateur looking blunder but that was bad. Cant quite work out exactly what happened? Must have lifted slightly in the bend but can see you kept it flat and tried to recover..
What’s your PR around Goodwood mate? 😊
Haven't been for a while now but its currently 1:31.59, I think with the right driver my car would go sub 1:30
@@liampaulingracing that’s a lot of time to find! Watched your crash! Damn man! Glad you was okay! That fuel was a scary moment!
Stayed in the throttle so long lol even when going towards the barrier
All you had to do was lift dam
In a FWD car the last thing you do when the rear goes loose is lift. It just makes it worse. Correct thing to do is to floor it and hope you've got enough traction for the front to pull the rear into line.
camera?

@@liampaulingracingthank you
I've driven this corner many times. Never really considered how dangerous it could be. I'm definitely going to be a bit more careful in future. Roll cages are vital even for a track day.
It’s a Clio ….. no loss!!
He come in there way too hot.
What camera did you film this on?
Hero 11
Nice one :) !
That looked both painful and expensive. Glad you walked away.
That's a big off, good practice crossing the arms prior to the crash
Looks like you went on the curb at surtees which unsettled the car?
Mmmmm......just because it's a track day I see you have no race suit or gloves. Not a good idea.
bloody good reactions with hands off the wheel etc.
What power she running mods etc
Oversteer as he passes the yellow X marker around 0:18. You can faintly hear the tires slide.
Looks like snap oversteer among FF is not very strong, compared to MR, FR layout.
@JohnKickboxing it can be very strong, it depends how it happens, or how your car is set up. You can spin FF cars around with lift off oversteer of you aren't careful enough
At least not far from med centre
Yeah the Yaris driver was just cruising. As much as love the classic hot hatches, a 30 grand 4wd rally car with 1 less cyclinder but still pushing almost 300hp stock will smoke our beloved clios any day.
Cant park there sir
thats legendary
The people who asks where is the oversteer, probably never felt this on a track at high speed. I did the same mistake in Monza, on my channel there is the video. If you don't put yourself in this situation, you wouldn't understand how in a second or two, you're going to lose it and the rear of the car is going to spin. Good save man!
0:13 that turn there, shouldn’t have pressed the throttle. It made the care lose control. Should have trail braking and gently squirt the throttle out mid corner
nice edit
