MAFEX 088 Venom (Reissue) Comparison
มุมมอง 7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A comparison between the first release and the reissue of the MAFEX Venom 088 this is my first review and comparison video on youtube sorry for the quality ill be replying to question in the comments as much as i can
Omg I’m getting this figure for Christmas and I’m so excited!!!it’s to go with my Mona figma!!
Good!👍
Thanks for the loose leg fix with the sticky tack. Works really well
How do I fix the loose wrist joint?
How did you pull out the leg the first time? Did you used anything? And if I were to do it, is there a technique you can give on how to safely remove it? Thanks!!
Im just used to dismantling import figure my suggestion is to bend the legs to left or right (depending which leg you were to pull) then pull it like that
Us DBZ fans are used to the crotch design.
You should start getting and reviewing shf of like dragon ball or Naruto
When did you pre order this? Do you think all shf tobey has issues? Like tight arm and loose leg?
I just purchased this locally in a local reseller Not sure, but seems like most of it have or will have those existing issues. From what i've heard those who didnt have the leg issue upon opening got their legs loose after playing with the figure. And most has the same case with me that it came loose upon open.
@@123Xehanort for how much?
I forgot but its the same as its SRP from pre order price in jp
Thanks for the neck tip! I don't know if it's by design or not, but I rotated the ball joint in the neck and now my Spidey head can look up a lot more. Looking down is no problem as that can use the neck itself, but looking up definitely needs the ball joint within the neck.
What exactly is the name of the thing you used to tighten up the left leg? Like it's legit name?
Mines are faber castel sticky tack but there are other brands out there Some calls it glue tack/blue tack/sticky tack
@@123Xehanort I just tried it and it seems to work find but the shoulder joints are super tight and i disassembled the left arm and heated it, used WD 40 but they didn't loosen it one bit and it sure hell doesn't stop the fricking squeaking noises. Got any good methods to loosen the joints?
@@hrithikkrishna4304 you should have used oil that is specifically for plastic toys (silicone shock oil) or oils that are used for rc cars. WD40 is probably the reason why its squeaking. For now i suggest to remove the WD40 using QTip and replace it with toy specific lubes
@@hrithikkrishna4304 put it in hot water for 30 seconds or a minute.
use a silicon based shock oil. they're cheap and won't deteriorate the plastic joints of the figure.

bro thanks sa info. taga aniban, bacoor lang ako. anyway naayos ko naman na. Kinabahan lang tlaga ako lol..
Bought it off my friend for 60 bucks I say that’s better price than 100
I want to like this but the way the thighs and waist are molded just throws me off. I'm not asking for Kardashian proportions but there's almost no muscle definition in the legs and she looks like Gumbi from the waist down
Waa going to say they just based it off jim lee's art style but upon checking they missed adding details to the whole leg part
@@123Xehanort maybe that's what makes it seem even more off to me. The face is almost too small but i think i still prefer the Yamaguchi Psylocke
Is her outfit still shiny? The metallic paint is the one keeping me from buying her. They should have painted it dark matte blue at least.
Yes its still metallic they just added a black shade
It’s shiny but it’s not bad honestly
Nice. We’re did you order this from again?
Got it from HobbySearch its a japan based store
@@123Xehanort Thank you 🙏🏿
pakurot
heya! any paint rub issues on your copy?
Out of the box none but upon posing the figure i had some paint scuffs and had to put this figure back on the box cause of that
Is it good to let kids play with?
I wouldnt suggest that since mafex figures has fragile joint and are meant to be handled carefully
@@123Xehanort ok
look into marvel legends spidey options, they're usually more sturdy so you can be a bit more rough with em = u= also cheaper
they should had included a new head sculpt with john romita eyes and this would been perfect.
from his accent I can tell he his Filipino I think
Does the secondary head attach to the figure itself in the back or is it just propped up by the stand. That really sucks if it don't connect to the figure.
For the venom you can try detaching one of the tentacle and add it there. But for other figure, it requires a stand (you can use tamashii stand for better range) or use sticky tack and stick to the back of a figure
@Elune thank you, I hope it can be attached. I don't know why they wouldn't make it attach right to him. Instead, they figured we'll just throw it on a stand. I'm surprised they usually are good with those kinds of details.
I think it was meant to be added to back of other characters, but yes its a bummer that there isnt some way of attaching it without the stand
Where did you get it from?
It was shipped from singapore
Magluto?
Ce nooo mana man?
are there any easier methods to getting the arm into the shoulder joint? i keep trying and trying but just cant get it in there. does hot water help?
Sorry for the very late reply Some people say hot water help but personally i think not Silicone oil might help
Hey, those shoulder joints WILL soften with warmth. Heat a pan of water to 160°f and leave the figure in the water for around 10 min. Its definitely more heat resistant, but its plastic. It ALL reforms under heat... the only variables are, how hot it has to be and how it melts. And, mafex uses decently high quality plastic, so, it wont really suffer any melt loss. My only serious word of advice, dont exceed 175°f, unless you're ready to reshape your whole figure. Sik
will hot water help put the arm into the shoulder joint? just wondering since i literally cannot get the arm in for the life of me😂
@@twixxclipss9324 absolutely bro. It will definitely make it easier. Sik
Hey dude I did this with mafex 185 and now one of the shoulders just doesn’t want to snap into the arm
Try adding some silicone shock or some alternative joint oil in the peg of the arm Make sure hole of the outer and inner piece is align isuggest bending up the shoulder(T-Pose) so its easier for you to align things up
@@123Xehanort I tried but when I put it in the peg it moves the shoulder up kind of like there’s no space for it
Check the tip of the arm peg(the one you insert into the shoulder piece) if it has an excess plastic at the tip Also try checking if the outer shoulder piece if its fully inserted, if your having trouble putting it in submerge the outer shoulder piece to a hot water before trying to put it back to the inner joint It should be fine putting it back since both arms of your figure arms were in before disassembly, if all above were check maybe the joint are too tight compared to the other piece i suggest using oil to make it easier putting it back
@@123Xehanort hey so um I superglued it and now I feel like an idiot because I can’t move the arm around 😬
Well thats a problem forcing the glue to broke by moving the arm left and right might break the peg
Ayyyyy nakooooo
Putting back the bicep is deceptively difficult if you ask me. You have to put a lot more pressure than expected to make sure it stays on.
Adding some silicon oil might help you if youre having a hard time putting it back
@@123Xehanort Oh I managed to do it. I was just surprised at how much pressure I had to apply to make sure that the biceps stayed on the shoulders.
Just add a little heat bro. ...people say "blow dryers", but NO. I've been doing custom action figures for 15 plus years, so I'm not just some "know it all" commenting. And, ALWAYS use warm water, around 160°f, not to exceed 175°f. And pretty much anything will come apart, or go back together correctly, with a little hot water. Sik
Did you have to do the shoulder swap on this version? Thank you for the big side-by-side comparison with the other Spider-man figures. It shows how unique and special this figure is.
Hi! Yes i did a shoulder swap with this figure
@@123Xehanort thank you for the information!
One thing about this is that there's actually a second detent deep inside the shoulder. When you are pressing the arm back in from the elbow, you'll feel a pop, but it's not all the way in yet, and the arm will still feel very loose as it swivels. Make sure the outer bicep sheath is pulled back far enough towards the elbow to not impede the progress of the cental peg, and push HARD until you feel a second, much firmer pop. Now the arm is in all the way, and the bicep swivel will be tight.
The best one is the reissue.
You keep mentioning your country, and it's driving me nuts with not saying what it is lol. Don't have mine in hand yet, but I think I'll agree with you with the whole red should be lighter to match the lighter blue. Or maybe if the blue was just a tad darker, it'd be the all-around perfect quintessential Spider-Man.
Sorry about that but im from the Philippines
@@123Xehanort Ohhh, I was thinking parts of South America and even Europe. I should've realized the Philippines, especially when I have family members from there and it's one of the action figure collector capitals of the world.
I had no idea until seeing a pic the other day they made the packaging smaller. I checked back to see what it came with, and it was only showing two web effects. So I thought with it being a lighter release and costing less, that's why they did that. But no, it comes with everything - well minus the Parker head. So _really_ curious to know if all the boxes moving forward are going to be this new small size.
I ended up getting two of 'em from AmiAmi for $140, which surprised the hell out of me. Guess the yen to dollar exchange rate was good that day.
Sounds normal, figure $60 shipping $20=$80add another $60 =140
@@quartex5450 Yeah, I just noticed a lot of inconsistency with what ppl say they're paying. Like so many reviewers spreading that _"they're 100 buck figs."_ So then everyone that's never purchased one from Japan thinks that's actually what they cost, so they get a bad reputation. They either don't bother to look at the yen exchange rate, or they think the BBTS prices are the norm.
@@Chalor. you’re right, for the most part tho if you don’t pre order special figures you’ll miss out from Japan prices and don’t get it soon after release you’ll miss out as well. So most cases I think the “$100” is okay to say
@@Chalor. totally. I was able to order this from Amazon Japan, and it came out to $70 (including shipping from Japan to NYC).
@@quartex5450 Yeah, I totally get that. Out of all the open pre-orders I mess with, the only ones that tend to ever sell out before the release date are Mafex figs from AmiAmi, Hobby Link Japan, etc. I was late on the bandwagon with getting in on these figures in like 2019, but there's so many old and new collectors that haven't taken the Mafex plunge.
Looks great cant wait to get mine from bbts
same definitely gonna be my definitive spidey for my collection
Mine coming soon too
How do u check when it’s coming I want to check mine because bbts still says pre order
@@Zysisbetter I order mine from somewhere else so idk
@@Zysisbetter it will eventually be green and say in stock until then it says 4th quarter of 2022 so by the end of the year that's only a prediction though

You need to raise your volume or something cause i heard him loud and clear
What?
classic spider-man next?
Yes i will make a unboxing and comparison with previous released spider-man
Great figure!
Both look cool man!
Wow!
My newer copy has no "clicking mechanic" in the legs & is amazingly flexible & articulate, actually alot better than I thought it would be. I have no problem posing him whatsoever.
Both my figures have this somewhat clicking mechanic but they werent that big of a deal when posing the figure
@@123Xehanort Hmmmph. Wow. Well I guess I should just be happy mine doesnt do that. Maybe mine is actually "broken" & it works out as a benefit...
I was hoping they would've fixed the height on him.
Hoped the same but i think they would release another venom with a taller body
His height is fine. Originally Venom wasnt this huge character that he has come to be in some depictions. This is perfect McFarlane style. Which is the original way he is supposed to be. He still is taller than mafex & marvel legends spider-men. If you want a bigger venom u need to be looking for a non-McFarlane style. Look towards the Marvel Legends versions of Venom.
@@kingsavageson4879 hes height is still good but vanilla poses with carnage is kinda awkward because carnage stands taller than venom
@@123Xehanort you showed a comparison in your video & Venom is taller than Carnage. You even said so. Also Carnage spent alot of time stretching himself taller in the comics.
@@kingsavageson4879 you still need to pose venom properly in order to achieve him being taller than carnage but then it isnt that noticeable since venom is bulky
Hold on so the original was marketed with the metallic blue but received a lighter blue now the re release is marketed with the lighter blue actually has the metallic blue?
The OG version has a somewhat matte to metallic blue and a black metallic shading The newer one is literally accurate to the promo images, it may show lighter metallic blue on my video because of the lighting but in person its the same as the promo
A very informative video, man. I had no idea there were differences between the two Mafex Venoms. I have the new one on the way and have been watching all kinds of reviews of the older version. Now I know why mine will look a little different. lol
