      Baker Creek Heirloom Seed catalog has Black Krim seeds and ships to Mexico for $12.00 for the whole order. Online the the web address is rare seeds. Don't worry it is the same. And if you love non-soggy zukes try/order this one also. Zucchino Rampicante, a Italian Heirloom. I did a full video on this as it is outstanding. Best thing I grew that season. You can find that video under my Baker Creek playlist, check it out first. I thank you so much for watching and commenting. Have a great night.

    I bought a pack of 10 knee high pantyhose which i cut in half and use as hammocks for cantaloupe and watermelon. Strips of pantyhose also work well when you need to tie a plant stem to the trellis. Then wash and use them again next season. You might also try the MN Midget. Similar size but heirloom. High yield and delicious.

      I love that idea, have used scrap material prior from moms sewing room. And I have used knee highs to cover a mini melons for trellis support and hoping to safeguard from a groundhog. Minnesota Midgets are definitely on my radar. I caught a great sale on Burpee seeds and went hog wild at Home Buys. I got Honey Rock and Crenshaw cantaloupes for 74₵ and I got Hale's Best for 5₵ at dollar tree. And when I picked them up I was hoping to find Minnesota Midgets, but no luck. Yet. 😉 But still on my gardening radar. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, I really appreciate it. Have a great holiday season! 🎃🎄🦃

    Just a heads up for folks like me in warmer zones. Merveille des quatre saisons does NOT germinate well at temperatures over 75°F. They might germinate, they might not. HOWEVER, the funny thing is that ONCE GERMINATED, Merveille des quatre saisons does great in almost all weather... hot to below freezing. I'm in zone 9b and Merveille des quatre saisons does fine. I use the Kratky method all year long, even with temperatures in the 90's in the summer and then down to freezing in the winter. A remarkable lettuce. And no, mine doesn't bolt nor does it turn bitter in the summer unless I let it go too long. You can let it go somewhat in the winter but not in the summer.

    I still would like to see how to prune these cantaloupes. I have huge pots with 2 in each pots & metal trelising going along the width of 6 pots. There are si many vines it is unbelievable. Planted them into pots when they hadseveral leaves. But itis.uncontrollable. I raise Persian cukes & have learned thatwhen a mini cuke developed youremoved the little protrusion next to it which would be a branch. The cukes are doing well because of this method. SO I would like to know is there a technique for the Cantaloupe that I can use next year, I'd itstoolate now.

    • @breninthegarden4984
      @breninthegarden4984 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you can, but it will affect the sweetness of your melons. Starting at soil level following the main vine, you can cut your first side shoot or lateral vine completely. Remaining lateral vines or sides shoot you can cut them in half or leaving eight leaf sets. Also, if you already have 2 to 3 melons on the same vine you can prune that vine. But leave three leaf sets above. I thank you so much for watching & have a great night 😃!

      I watered when they needed it, I water deeply not daily. I don’t fertilize anything. But there was a bit in the MiracleGro potting soil I started them in in the egg cartons. Which was a tiny space to start with. Have a great night. 🌼

    I’ve had great success w/ my $1 dollartree towers. I grew flowers 🌸 & herbs 🪴, & stacked them 6 high. I fill to the brim w/ soil & mulch a little. Fertilized every 2 wks. Also,I have a 7 high greenstalk that I love. I grow micro tomatoes 🍅, 🫑 peppers, flowers 🌺, & herbs in it. It was $136 total on a sale. I have also seen towers in stores that would be $30 to stack 6 high. These have larger pots like the greenstalk. There’s actually something for every wallet.

I thought maybe I could use these in the middle of a full sun raised bed. With 🐝 loving cascading 🌸 . Lots of garden ideas floating around. I thank you so much for sharing how you utilize these with me. Hope you have a great garden season!!

    I have been buying Dollar Tree seeds for 3 years now. And they are great. You know you can pollinate those three melons yourself by getting a male flower and brushing the inside of the female flowers? Thank you for sharing

      👍 to $ 🌲. Yes I do know how to hand pollinate. I was just so burnt out from the season prior with all the sugar cube melons & other melons I just decided to let the bees do the work that year. This season no melons I needed a easy no fuss garden. Lots of things in personal life to get done. I do have videos on channel just about hand pollination & in some of my deep dive variety videos I cover as well. But thank you for telling me always good to spread the knowledge and share. 😘 Thank you for watching & commenting. Have a wonderful day and garden season. 🌺🐝

      I’m sorry to hear that. I can tell you Pinetree is a great seed catalog with prices from $1.95 and up. Most packs will last you a few years if you keep them cool & dry. I have several videos on the channel displaying their seeds, highly recommend them as they are one of the most economical catalogs with a great selection and a lot of planting information in that catalog. Hope this helps as a backup plan. 😎

      @@breninthegarden4984 absolutely i have been an avid seed collector since the 90s and as long as you keep the moisture and sunlight away from them they can have a very high germination rate even after 15-20 years

    Dang those marigolds look like something out of the Amazon rainforest lol. Like a dang bush. Respect to you. Love it. I live in West Virignia right outside of Charleston WV. I had the same rabbits hanging around outside but my labrador chases them when im not looking so they have moved on which is depressing. I had them for years they would come right up to me. But I got a dog and I love him but I couldnt get him to stop chasing them hes 2 years old now :(. I miss them I would give them carrots.

    I have questions and suggestions!!! Your growing method for tomatoes is pretty interesting. Do you usually grow three plants at a time and prune every week in order to control their size? You could get more tomatoes if you cut back on the pruning. The leaves are like solar panels - the plants need that energy to produce the tomatoes. When you prune them every week, you're reducing their energy to grow their fruit. Usually when tomatoes are pruned, you're cutting the suckers that are growing from the main stem in order to keep the plants from growing out of control and every which way lol. And if you want to keep your tomato plant at a certain height, then you prune the growing tip on top of the plant. This was the way I learned how to grow them almost 20yrs ago. But I keep an open mind when I see methods that are drastically different, and since you were still getting harvests, I can't knock the process you're doing. 👍🏾 I'm in a warmer growing zone (now 8B), and I usually start my tomato seeds in January under lights (i.e cardboard box with LED light in a clip lamp lol 😁) By May, I have ripe tomatoes to harvest. I start pruning when I see the suckers. And when the fruit set happens, I prune the leaves under where the tomatoes are to help with air flow. By only growing one plant in its space (I grow in containers, but it's the same concept in ground too), you don't have to prune so much and the plant won't compete for nutrients with other tomato plants growing so close. 😁 I've grown Paul Robeson tomatoes before, and they are soooooo good! When you grow one at a time, you can afford to let your plant get bushy - as long as you control the suckers and the leaves/branches under the fruit set. Then you can get more tomatoes much earlier since they have the energy (leaves = solar panels) to produce more for you. The tea leaves and composting in place is genius when it comes to fertilizing your garden! Do you use any other fertilizers with your plants? If you could get a hold of some nettle leaves, that will help your tomatoes set a LOT of fruit! I've used leftover nettle tea to water my tomatoes and even put the spent tea leaves in the soil around the tomatoes (gotta cover them well with soil/mulch because they'll smell foul if you don't lol 😄) I was looking at the Blue Cream Berries tomatoes on the Baker Creek site and they were already sold out when I got there! You got all the cool tomatoes early! Very envious! I'm definitely subscribing to see how the rest of your garden is growing! Cheers! 😁

      Hi thank you for the great comment. Yes I usually do 3 plants per space with tomatoes. I was extra scissor happy that season. Plus heat wave, lots of rain & humidity brought some black spot fungus, which caused for proactive pruning as well. I spoke about this in another tomato video so I did not cover it again. Plus this video was already sooooo long. Heat wave also effected the harvest as it dried up some of the blossoms. At the end of the day very happy with my pruning method. I have never used shade cloth before, thinking I might want to start. With all the heat waves here in zone 5 now. Do you use them? If so what do think? I wish I could start in January, love your system & would love a bigger greenhouse, but just not feasible. But don't all gardeners want a BIG greenhouse? I did not plant Paul Robinson this year, but I did plant my Black Krim's. Also planted those Prairie Fire & Thorburn's terra cotta again. I don't use any other fertilizers. Technically the Miraclegro that I seed started in has some, but I used very little of it. I have seen videos on the nettles fertilizer. But I have a partial disability & carrying water would not be good for my body. That is also why I just compost in place, I can not do all that turning. Also another reason why I stay on top of the pruning, I can not let things get away from me & become a big project. But I can still garden!!! So I am very HAPPY about that. I make myself wait till after Christmas to order all my seeds, but I usually have my order by end of January in my hot little hands. LOL This season I only ordered 4 packets from Jung's $44. Got very unique pumpkins & gourds. I am excited to share with everybody. I hope you have a blessed day & garden!!! 🐝

      I take all the suckers off on the level I am pruning at currently on the plant. If I see one above that level, I will leave it until the next pruning session. That way I still have the leaves for the required amount of the photosynthesis process.

      Hi 👋 I too am planting my garden today. Concentrating on pumpkins and tomatoes. If you think about it and have the time, if you would let me know later in your pepper season if you got two additional pepper bonuses in your packet, let me know please. Very curious to know if that was just a fluke that year. But again, only if you have time. Thank you so much for watching and I hope that you have a fantastic pepper growing season this year. 🫑🫑🫑🫑
