I tried my best to put up a good fight, but Arnauld's mono black is a really hard match up for this brew. Wasn't able to get rolling. The mana base is also pretty greedy as the deck only really needs 2 mana for most spells, so I try to have more non land draws with this ratio. Overall that night I think I went 2-2 in matches.
20:50 -- I'm sure his heart skipped a beat when the Orb bounced.
I encourage prison players to try a green build as well. 4 Savannah 2 forest 1 green mana battery 3 plains 4 strip mine 2 mishras factory 2 workshops 3 pendlehaven 1 LOA 4 fellwar stone 4 winter orb 3 living plane 1 regrowth 2 sylvan library 1 chaos orb 5 mox 1 black lotus 1 sol ring 1 living the hive 2 dust to dust 1 balance 3 disenchant 3 drop of honey 3 icy manipulator 2 relic barrier 1 moat Sb 3 avoid fate 4 stp 2 city in a bottle 1 max of ith 1 the rack 2 dust to dust 1 disenchant (Insert other cards based on meta)
Great games! Need more that feature reanimator though.
Great games and commentary! I do think The Deck is significantly better than Counterburn in 4-strip formats, it's just that you should go with 2 max 3 strips and Serras instead of Abyss because your factories will be too vulnerable.
Surprised no one noticed that the sideboard is 16 cards.
@@chrisvarosky Seems like The Deck needs more answers.
The deck deck list is brain Weissmans new variant . The only difference is the fourth disenchant isn’t main deck instead of the offering Weissman also doesn’t play angels in the sideboard but more ivory towers and cop red But it’s practically the same list as the man himself AND if you play boreal or eternal central rules- four strips all the way, any day in counter burn and control Weissman has many interviews on TH-cam that are current and he explains how “the deck”’s most important cards are always four disenchant four strip mine That’s the main focus and the mandatory strategy of “the deck”
No angel Is criminal
@@nickfanzo I’m the worst. Sorry.

Beautiful decks. Wish I hadn't sold my collection and had the income to build a Swedish-legal deck.
In game 2 did Karl use a fellwar stone while sen only had a strip mine?
Time?
When i started playing back in 95 i made blue white mill deck lots of counter with 4 wrath of god and swords , my millstone are protected with counter spell.
2:20 -- I'm guessing he has a sideboard, as his deck list doesn't match his deck picture. Looks like he has at least a couple Scavenger Folk in his sideboard, but is currently running two Argothian Pixies. Either that, or someone typo'd. :D [edit] Ah, you mention this later in the video. I often comment as I watch. :P
Shandalar music is peak.
Never seen so much simultaneous hate and love for a single Land Tax. 😆
Great games...I will always root for the mill deck in old school because the setup is so difficult to achieve. When I play Land Tax I always have at least 1 strip-mine in the deck just in case I need to strip my own land to get it going.
3 great matches with 2 real nice decks. the misplays happen, its part of the game. Karls deck is actually quite scary
So sad they forgot about the blood moon. I was enjoying watching The Deck getting smashed.
Yeeaaahhh, with the black vise and the moon on board, I am not sure he would still win. Still we don't know what he would've draw if not Tutor.
With a Mox Pearl in play, he could draw Disenchant and bury the Blood Moon. But he could also easily die to Black Vise prior.
I got steamrolled in this one, my brew wasn't even able to put up much of a fight. It happens occasionally when you play a lot of inefficient cards. Also, Cursed Rack is a horrible card, it never does anything. It was included to sort of complete the set of racks/vise in the deck, and also the official text on the card has you targeting an opponent upon entering the battlefield, which means when it's switched with the Juxtapose, like the Black Vise and The Rack, it still targets your opponent, that was the combo idea. Overall the point was to steal things, maybe even swap them back with Juxtapose, and if you disenchanted the Control Magic or tried to Bolt a creature stolen with a Juxtapose, I would hide it in the Safe Haven. That was the spirit of my deck.
14:00 I believe the archer should have still died after the 2nd giant growth since it would have had 4 toughness from the 2nd giant growth when the psionic blast would have resolved. I only bring it up since it made such a big difference that game. Thanks for the fun games as always!
@@praet0ria Dmg are applied once resolved, not in stack. So that’s legit.
@@MontrealTundraWolvespretty sure it’s supposed to die. 2/1 … OP went to take 2 (probably should just say no block) >> Giant growth (probably should’ve adjusted life back to 20 first) >> respond to GG with Psy Blast >> respond with a second Giant Growth It still should’ve die.
@@vinni522 ah yeah see because the first growth was put directly in the graveyard, it looked like the psi blast was trying to kill a 5/4 but in fact he responded to the first GG So yes the elf should have died
Agree 100% on proxies. Rather open room for people to brew and play what they want then just play against what they can afford!
8:42 ape would have still been 2/3 via trop and the basic
Yes, the ape doesn't care for the mountain. He just want to hide in the bushes.
Anybody try running Arena (HarperPrism card) with their Vampires?
@@WarhavenSC Not yet but clearly Im getting a playset soon.
Even modern magic, as soon as you go to 0 life, you lose, regardless of getting life back that would bring it back above 0.
@@type6 yes, exactly. That’s what I was telling Nico while I was playing with him.
More specific, the game checks for players at 0 life after every action. Modern lifelink happens as damage is calculated so can keep you from dying if the net puts you back over 0. Spirit link is a triggered ability that needs to resolve so if youre at 0 or below you'll die before the trigger resolves.
@@mightyfp yes, that’s the correct answer.

I've been swept up into your channel. I really like the content. My friends and I started playing old school and I find I prefer it. I've collected a very long time starting out with a box of Chronicles. I remember actually using a Gray ogre...lol. Fantastic as usual. If you could leave a written list of all the cards below the video in each deck that would be great.
@@robertlaporte4626 Hi Robert! Happy to ear that you appreciate the channel. I too, and many of us, have a ton of souvenirs when it all began. Old School is there to bring us back in. For the deck list, unfortunately, I do not have them. It’s easier and faster for players to give us a deck picture. Maybe one day there will be a automated deck scanning machine … a kind of machine like the money shorting one but that scans your deck and sends you a final decklist on your phone. The dream!

@@briandiadem Yeah I know, I hate cats too. 😂
Goblin definitely needs more ways to deal non red damage. Black vise, copper tablet, manabarbs (still red but works well against CoP), or as he is splashing green stormseeker or hurricane.
@@lozkko As a green player, I clearly would’ve want to see some Storm Seeker there, but more red sources against CoP Red is usually more efficient than colorless as you eventually are restricting his mana pool and once he decides to play something (things that happens no matter the situation), then you could easily breach your way.
Old but gold 👍

It is immune to the abyss.
27:13 player on the left had the game won. All he had to do Before casting the 2 bolts was to chaos orb a blue mana producing land and then move in to combat thus emptying the deck players mana pool denying him the double couterspell play.
Yes that would’ve do it, but I think he wasn’t expecting double counter.
Ohhh sweet The Deck misery 🤓
Oh no, I didn't realise. Francoise in game 2 instead playing triskelion, he could have played a mindtwist for 5.
Yah, see my previous comment about this! 🤓
@@francoisrdt Be honest about this, just say you goofed up, instead of hiding behind the: I am a gentleman, excuse.
@@darknight1022Unfortunately, I really doubt @francoisrdt as goofed up in any way here. As we said on the channel before, most people in these games are close friends or know each other and they are playing for fun more than for fame. Regular Old School players tends to have that kind of thinking too in general. So when you got a Mind Twist in hand, it’s pretty hard to miss the fact that it will give you the game at 90% cause the card advantage is just too high. François is also the founder of the Tundra Wolves so it would be kinda weird to create an event like this challenge to welcome friends and rip their hands off 2 games in a row on stream. Mind Twisting would’ve been a good play, but would it give him more satisfaction than playing a closer game with an old friend?
@@MontrealTundraWolves Have a banlist between friends not to play with mindtwist, because it fucks people up too much.
@@MontrealTundraWolves Then dont play with the card. Just ban the card, if the card is so unfun to play against it.
